The Eric Analysis

A quick question before I start my analysis (and today is a really big chapter! :)) Can anypony tell me what food earth puppies like? Homer has been feeling a bit sniffly lately and I’m worried it might be the food. He’s gotten used to living among the clouds and doesn’t complain about his harness, so I think that’s the only thing left. If you know, please PM me.

Onto the chapter.

We start with Eric waking up in a Palace (yep, a real palace) made of gold (or light. It was never made clear). He gets up, clearly familiar with the place, washes, gets dressed, then heads to have breakfast. During the entire time is alone, yet when he gets to the dining hall his breakfast is waiting for him. after he finishes, he leaves the dishes as they are then moves to the huge mirror in the room and asks what they want from him. The mirror then suddenly transforms into Echo.

We have a flashback of echo trying to escape into Equestria only to be captured by the Everprince. There’s a comment about it being obvious that “Icelos would discard her”. She then explains that this used to be the summer palace of the gods once, and was filled with servants like her. A long time ago she would see it as honor to be there, before she learned the truth about the gods and the world. That’s when she decided to kill all of them and have her revenge.

I’ll skip the slice of life of them talking and explaining their point of view (although it was interesting for them to discuss the hold she had on Eric and the water bottle scheme). Of the important things we learn that Poseidon is lost forever (or so Echo claims) and that she thinks he’s gotten it easy. Eric is about to make an argument when his phone rings (Danny needs him since they are facing a new danger.) Echo says that she’ll transport him to his home and they could continue the conversation later. She then goes and grabs a cup of water from the table and uses it to make a mirror portal through which Eric disappears. Moments later someone (unknown) appears and Echo asks him how he’s so certain Eric will return. To which she is answered that Eric will always return.

Back in Mistmount we find that the computer dimension has sent a sentinel (?) to determine how suitable the world is for conquest. The creature is pure energy that can shape the form of electronic objects (as Computrix did) but seems to be far less simplistic. However, it is explained that defeating it would only increase the computer dimension’s interest towards Earth. The solution is to capture it and bring it to Computrix unharmed so she could reprogram it in a way so that Earth is considered a decaying reality and ignored.

A number of capture attempts follow with the sentinel always managing to escape and beat up and direct attack attempt. Blazen gets cocky at one point and tries to use his powers against it, but only succeeds in getting it furious. In another intense scene, the grand9 manage to capture the sentinel, holding it so that Computrix reprogram it. However, it manages to escape again (severely wounded) only to be crushed by Athena to everyone’s horror. We have the obligatory exchange between everyone, fearing that what Computrix did might not be enough and they must prepare for more, should they come.

After saying goodbye to everyone, Eric goes home, then uses his water bottle to open a portal and returns to the gold prison/palace. He tells Echo what has happened and asks why she keeps letting him go. The speculation is that neither the Everprince nor the Overseers have any interest in letting him free. At that point someone new appears, introducing himself as Prometheus and explains those aren’t the only sides.

I can’t believe titans are back :) And on Earth itself! So many new questions. With the whole Everprince revelation, I totally forgot about them. Turns out they had a presence in Mistmount all along :)

I’m still curious about Athena. She’s so very quiet I’m almost sure she’s evil. Do you think that maybe she’s the Everprince’s lover or something?

PrinceEric

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel very strongly about this chapter. Eric living in an invisible prison hits a bit too close to home. Sometimes I think we all live in invisible prisons, but and it’s up to use to find the key to escape or get used to living like this.

Sorry for being so negative, but I have a lot on my mind right now and my immediate surroundings aren’t helping :(

The chapter was interesting and also gives a boost to Twist’s idea. Athena only acted when Bellucio was in direct danger. This might mean nothing, since she also banished a trickster when he tried to attack Danny, but it makes one wonder.

LyraHands

Is it just me or are things much quieter lately? :/

The chapter was okay, but I had hoped we’d learn more about Poseidon and the mistake he did. Of everything in Everhere, and I love it loads, this is the one annoying thing. We have several Mimi at s that are broken up. I’m 90% sure that next chapter will be about the Everprince and won’t touch on titans, evegems, Equestria, or the computer dimension.

And don’t get me started on the Chosen and Blazen references every now and again! It’s such a tease I want to go Canterlot and buck Bellucio in the snout! (In a loving way, of course :))

RRBB

Heh, that would be interesting to see.

Yes, it has been quite quiet. I think it’s just that time of year. Fall is approaching, plus with school over a lot of families tend to go on vacation with their foals for a week or two. And then there’s college applications and what not. Don’t worry, things will pick back up.

LyraHands

Tell me about it! :/

Squishy is so obsessed with stuff that she’s locked herself in her room and shoos me off the moment I come near. Well, at least we have the evenings :)

By the way, I’ll need your advice on something. It’ll be a long talk so when is good for you?

RRBB

Tomorrow’s fine. Just be patient if I don’t answer right away.

LyraHands

Thanks! See ya, hands. Time for curating...
