Sounds Cool

Completely unnecessary and pointless epilogue

Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy had spent a year together. A year of trials and tribulations, of growing together, of nights  full of tears as they became better individually by being better together.

..... No not really, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were a perfect match. The biggest problem in their relationship was suffering through everypony constantly telling them that they were a perfect match. It was a constant source of annoyance for Rainbow Dash, whose constant groans of annoyance were a constant source of amusement to Fluttershy, which in turn was a constant source of annoyance to Rainbow Dash.

That was not to say they didn't have their fair share of arguments. Their largest fight to date concerned Rainbow Dashes scent and how potent it could be after a long day training and wanting to do little else but cuddle up next to her marefriend after. About half a harsh sentence from both and both were suddenly apologizing. Dash never wanted to hurt Fluttershy's feelings with an argument and Fluttershy never wanted Rainbow Dash to feel like she was trying to change her. The only thing that had really come from that argument was Rainbow Dash learning that she kind of liked her marefriends girly shampoos, though she would never admit it.

Now a year in and they had made plans for their anniversary that reflected that willingness to make each other happy. They had both wanted their special day to be both memorable and exciting, but in different measures. Thus their plans had been an early airshow and spending a quiet evening at home together.

Though the airshow was not Wonderbolt quality, it had served to make their day exciting and give them just the reason they needed to laze away the rest of the night.

Even better reason was that their anniversary seemed to perfectly coincide with the latest Daring Do release and the release of the latest issue of a trashy romance series Rarity had gotten Flutteshy into. Thus they could be found a year later, exactly where their journey began. Enjoying each other's company, on Fluttershy's couch, while Rainbow Dash tried to figure out how to keep the next part from being too mushy.

Rainbow Dash had been hoping to have longer to figure out that part, but had made the same miscalculation she had been making for the past year. Just how much more comfortable her favorite pillow seemed to be getting every time she settled down on it. She really did want a nice long night just enjoying Fluttershy's company, she really did, and she really wanted the moment to be romantic, she really did, but with how much her eyes were already fluttering it seemed it was now or never.

As Rainbow Dash let out a big yawn she could practically feel her marefriend smile at it from where she laid on her back, that spot probably a little more on the flank then it used to be. Fluttershy already knew Dash wouldn't last much longer and had been waiting for when she would give in to sleep. Thus she could not help but smile more as her marefriend rolled onto her side and started to get comfortable.

"I'm sorry Shy, guess that show took a little more out of me then I thought."

"It's ok Dashie, I had a perfect day with you."

"Not too perfect I hope. How the heck will we top it next year?"

"I'm sure you'll think of something. Go ahead and get some sleep." She couldn't help but smile some more. She noticed Dash shift while getting comfortable, almost like she was adjusting her wings. That was odd for her, but not enough to pay much attention to. That was until she felt Dash's front hooves snake under her chest and wrap something around her left hoof that was tucked there.

"I dunno, I might have a hard time beating this." Dash said this as her eyes closed and a satisfied grin crossed her face.

Fluttershy gasped as she pulled her leg out and examined a simple band adorned with both their cutie marks secured gently around the base of her hoof. Looking back and seeing the small black box half way under Rainbow's wing and  the smile on the face of her now more than even a marefriend, she knew she needed her answer to be clear. She shifted, eliciting a slight groan from Rainbow Dash as her favorite pillow left its place under her head. It was quickly replaced by her second favorite pillow that she had discovered over the last year as Fluttershy slid her leg under her head to cuddle close, chest to chest, with the love of her life. Flutter Shy could hardly contain herself as she kissed her half asleep fiancé. "I love you so much Dashie."

"Love you too, Shy."

As the initial shock and rush slowly wore off with the help of several more passionate kisses, both mares felt fatigue and comfort blending together into the perfect feeling of peace that they only got when they were together. Neither wanted to ever give up that feeling, so they never would.
