//------------------------------// // More Then They Bargained For // Story: The Arrival of The Blue Exorcist // by Dash Attack //------------------------------// Somewhere near the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan, three travelers trod across a small dirt road. “OOHWEE,” cried one of the travelers as he and his companions walked across the small dirt path. “Hey, Shura, why the hell isn't we there yet. I don’t think Suguro is going to make it.” “Will shut your trap,” An angry voice cried from behind him. Said voice came from a taller man with piercings on his face and a yellow streak cutting through his black hair. “I swear Okumura, one of these days I’m going drown you in holy water.” “Quite bitching love birds,” shouted their instructor. Shura Kirigakure up front responded, “We're almost where we need to be. If the two of you can walk the remainder of this path without squabbling… then maybe I’ll pay for dinner tonight. However, if keep this up, then you can enjoy starving for the rest of the night..” And with that, the trio fell into silence. Rin Okumura and Ryuji Suguro were exorcists in training. Since the cram school at True Cross Academy began, the two had been rivals, in spite of also being close friends. Ironically their disagreements stemmed more from how similar the two are, rather than their differences. Both had been raised by not so righteous holy men -one a pervy priest obsessed with skin mags- the other a drunken Buddhist monk. They also shared the same goal of one day defeating Satan in order to past loved ones. As far as differences go, Rin was more laid back and a bit goofy, while Sugero was more stern and quick tempered. However, the biggest difference between the two was the rather crucial fact that only one was human. Rin had only found out a year ago who and what he was, namely the bastard son of Satan. His guardian, Father Fujimoto, had raised him as a human after sealing his power inside the Koma sword. On his fifteenth birthday, his power began to leak, causing him to see demons. The revelation caused the boy to angrily lash out at his guardian at the betrayal of his trust. His words hurt the old man, weakening his resolve, making him vulnerable enough for Satan to possess him. In the end, Fujimoto took his own life before he could do the devil's bidding, but not before Rin tried to rescue them both from sinking into the Gehenna Gate. The moment Rin drew the Koma sword was the day shed his humanity. He had destroyed the Gate, only to find Father Fujimoto dead and his appearance forever altered. His ears were now pointed and his teeth turned to fangs, though the biggest change came with the long black tail protruding from his tailbone. Thankfully, he’d since grown accustomed to the transformation, even enjoying the novelty of using the tail as a third hand. It was after these events, that Rin decided to become an exorcist for The Knights of The True Cross, despite being not only part demon, but also Satan's child. Now here he was on his way to becoming an Exorcist, Knight class, and learning how to control his powers for good. Sure the Vatican almost had ordered his death sentence not too long ago, but with all the demons he’d been slaying, he doubted they’d follow through, provided he remained an asset to The True Cross. “Can I at least ask if we are almost at the spot of this so called ‘mission?’” Suguro groaned. “Bad enough I had to get stuck with Omen boy, but I really could be using this time studying for the upcoming exams.” “Honestly Suguro,” grounded Shura, “I thought you would be happy to get some field work done. You're the best with Arias and I figured Rin would be backup in case they weren’t enough. The demons that have been bothering the villagers are close to high level, and unfortunately, we are understaffed thanks to the Illuminati. Rin’s tail jolted up, as he pointed his finger forward towards a wooden clearing. “There,” he cried. “I think is see it. It looks like some Octopus with a tentacle for a head.” Shura looked at the area but couldn’t see anything. “Quit fooling around Rin,” She groaned. “The demon we are looking has bat wings, at least that's what the villagers told us.” “Well if I’m just imagining it, why can I sense it coming towards us?” There was a rustling sound in the bushes, prompting Shura to draw her sword from the tattoo on her chest, while Suguro began reciting from memory, passages from the Bible. Meanwhile, Rin readied his Koma sword, making sure not to draw it too early, lest he releases his flames. A figure finally emerged from the bushes, his face obscured by darkness. All though his features were obscured, he was dressed akin to a Pharaoh from Egypt, with golden headpiece and a golden rod at his side. He floated before them, stretching out his arms as if to welcoming them. “Greeting son of Satan!” boomed the figure as the sky above turned blood red and the trees began to morph into grotesque figures. “I am Nyarlathotep.” “Shit!” Shouted Shura. “This isn’t the demon the villagers described!” “They saw what I wanted them to see!” the figured boom “So that I may lure you here.” He turned to face Rin as tentacles poured out from the creatures back. “Rin Okumura, the Outer Gods would you like you to join us. With your powers, we may finally awaken the mighty Cthulhu and defeat Satan himself.” “Like Hell I Am!” Rin screamed as he finally drew his sword. Instantly he was shrouded in blue flames, peering out from his head like horns while the end of his tail ignited. “Burn asshole,” Rin snarled, exposing his now larger fangs! He thrusted his sword forward to impale the floating creature before him. “Rin don’t!” Shura screamed. “I know this thing, and if what I’ve heard is true, then he can easily destroy our minds. “Right you are Miss. Kirigakure?!” Nyarlathotep yelled as he effortlessly dodged Rin’s attack. “I can win this battle at any point I choose, simply by willing you all to go insane.” “Bet it won’t affect me asshole! Satan Slash!” Rin screamed as he swung his sword, sending a wave of fire towards the monster. This time he got him! Nyarlathotep let out a  screech of pain as the flames consumed him. “I underestimated the power of your flames, boy!” he screamed. “This wasn’t supposed to happen, you were supposed to submit to my influence like all lesser demons and humans do.” “Guess being the son of Satan makes me top of the food chain then,” Rin said with a grin. “Now fry already mother fu…” Rin and the others screamed as Nyarlathotep’s still burning body morphed into a giant mesh of tentacles and mucus, quickly growing in size! “Okumura get back!” cried Sugero. Rin watched as Sugero took out his a shotgun, no doubt loaded with anti-demon rounds. Surgo unleashed a fury of shots, each doing absolutely nothing to the monstrosity before him. Before he could switch to his Bazooka, the Old One grabbed all three of them. “I told you the battle would be over when I decided it would end.” The monster bellowed as he began crushing the three exorcists with his tentacles. “Your blue flames may hurt me… they may even be the only thing that can kill me… but you're going to need more than that sad display of power to finish me. I’ll shift send you to another plane until you reconsider my offer! I’ll even let your friends tag along. I do hope you all like ponies!” And just like that, a giant flash of light enveloped them all and both the exorcists as well as the monster were gone. -------- Come now little ones,” a yellow pegasus said with her harmoniously soft voice. Winter Wrap Up had concluded the day before, which meant Fluttershy was free to take a few of her animals out for a nice afternoon picnic at the nearby fields. She, along with a handful of squirrels and chipmunks, traveled with the hopes of getting a nice, calm, and quiet spot. As the soft spoken pegasus lead her band of happy critters, along with one grumpy bunny, to the field, she came across something strange. Right before her, a bizarre creature dressed in a black uniform of some sort was lying unconscious in the middle of the road. “Oh, my!” Fluttershy said. She trotted over to the stranger and tipped him over so she could see his face. “Are you alright Mr...um… whoever you are?” The creature opened its eyes for a moment and looked into her eyes. “Sh, Sh…. Shiemi?” it muttered before it drifted back into unconsciousness. Fluttershy turned to her critters. “Help me get him to the cottage, quickly!” ---------- “He looks just our counterpart from the other dimension.” Twilight thought to herself as gazed down at the creature with a peculiar yellow stripe in his hair. “But what are these objects surrounding them. They look like weapons of some kind.” She levitated and examined one of the smaller objects. “Yep that is definitely some kind of explosive.” Her thoughts and questions were interrupted when The stranger’s s eyes opened and he stood up. ------- Suguro gazed out, his eyes gradually adjusting to the sights around him, only to be met with rather strange crystal like architecture. He turned his head to better gather his bearings, only to be caught further off guard by a strange pony creature before him. Still too dazed to really understand what was going on or even or be shocked, he simply said the first words that came to mind. “Where the hell am I?” “You're in a castle located in Ponyville,” the purple horse said as if trying to brown nose a teacher. “I found you and your weapons outside my home and I brought you in so you could rest?” “Oh… that's nice.” Suguro mumbled, still regaining his senses. “And where might this Ponyville be located. This is still Japan right?” “What’s Japan?” Suguro’s eyes lit up as mental clarity returned. “Oh Great Buddha... I’m talking to a horse… with wings… who’s never heard of Japan!” As he narrated his thoughts, his face became more and more mortified. “This is not fucking good!”
