//------------------------------// // New Rule // Story: Equestrian Fanfiction // by Lise //------------------------------// @all: Good morning, everyone! I cannot express how glad I am that everyone is fine after the frightful events that transpired a few days ago. I might now have always shown it, but I—and the entire EqF team—deeply care for the wellbeing of everyone, be they Nightlings or not. For that reason it is with a heavy heart that I must announce that from now on the Nightling Network will no longer be part of the site’s responsibilities. I am aware this might sound shocking or even heartless, but after a thorough discussion we felt this is the proper way to go ahead. Now, this doesn’t mean that the Network will be shut down or removed, it merely means that We'll be handing it over to professionals who will be sure to cope with any situations that may arise. LyraHands and Luna have already agreed on the best course of action and we expect the change to take place in the upcoming weeks. As you might respect this will impose a number of changes. Most significant a separate Nightling Watch forum will be created with its own specialists and moderators. All issues concerning real life dangers and disasters will be addressed by them. Meanwhile, EqF proper will return to what it was made for: our love of MC. Note, this doesn't mean we will stop helping anyone in need, just that we shall move the major topics to a sister board, if you will. Be safe and thank you for your understanding. The TechNightling Saw that coming, and I agree it's the right thing to do. And before any smartalice starts going on about the benefits, I'll tell you that Short has been shivering in my hooves ever since the incident. It's all cool to spam her scrollbox how brave she was, but you have NO idea what she went though. We all know she'll do it again, but I prefer for it not to happen. This site has helped me personally a lot, and that's precisely why I don't want to see it destroyed by real life problems. Yes, I have brought a lot of drama here myself, and probably will more in future, but some things just have no place here. (Yes, I can hear Tech laughing at my comment). I'm short, let's keep this place being what brought us here. The more we expand and add things, the less unique and focused it becomes, and I don't want that to happen. Better for it to shine with all its might while it can, than to fade away into mediocrity. RRBB @RRBB: I love you Short&Hoofy I wasn't here when the horrible events took place (for which I'm sorry), but I agree with LyraHands as well. Ponies were hurt, some might have been killed. The site has done miracles in coordinating efforts for help and relief, but at the end of the day it's just a sight about bravely described humans. Living by the principles described within makes us better ponies, but even MC shouldn't dominate every part of our lives. Some say humans exist, some say they don't, whatever the case it doesn't matter. Danny is unlikely to appear and defeat our dangers for us. And even if he did he would be the first to tell us not to play the hero mindlessly. (“Heroes are not stupid” remember?) What I'm trying to say is let's not mix things. MC will still be here for us to share anything, but maybe use the other network for serious issues of this nature? Brush And just in case Ponies out there have any doubts: Brush was among those who banished the Windigo. Short&Hoofy was one of those who came up with the plan to let DarkSparkle (a.k.a. Princess Twilight Sparkle) know what the situation is. Don't you dare diss them! CEOWitch @CEOWitch: okay, can we at least discuss if the Windigo was hot or not? Feather @Feather: :) There at times in which you're simply the best. LyraHands I know ;) Feather Okay, I wrote a thousand words comment but deleted it. Why did I delete it? Because at the end of the day it doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is how we go on. This isn't the first huge decision that has been made in regard to the site (some might remember a time when slap stories were allowed, or a time before curation, or even a time when drama had overrun the site to the extent that no one bothered talk about MC anymore). After each time a ruling was made. Some liked it, some didn't, but the truth is it kept the site pure. Think back to the moment you first joined. There were much larger sites of larger fandoms. Yet we chose to join something that gave us what we liked, and not a bloated site that talked about anything and everything. Even today when we are the seventh most popular fansite (I checked a few minutes ago) we have kept our core, and if LyraHands were here right now I'd hug her so hard for succeeding in doing that. In short EqF is for the Nightlings. There's plenty of space in the aethernet for other sites. :) MixaMax It's a change and every change, especially after an event of such proportions, is bound to leave a nasty aftertaste. That’s just a natural reaction of the brain. I'm sorry I can't be here for long. I, like others, have lived ones I want to be with. Still, I feel I also feel I owe it enough to all of you to say that this is the right choice. I blame myself for letting this happen. I don't think I'll ever forgive myself, but that's no reason you should. What you've don't on this site is extraordinary, what the ponies did when trapped with the Windigo is doubly so. Lyra’s Midnight Castle site has done more for Equestria than most heroes could hope for and now it is time for it to return be what it always was: a beacon of joy and laughter that can still guide us in the right direction. DarkSparkle You truly have captured the heart of Midnight Castle. For that you have my gratitude. S.Child
