Chapter 1

Canterlot castle 12:34 am.

Year 1 of Lunar Reign, July.

"Sister, is that true what they said in the news paper?" Princess Luna was holding today's issue of Canterlot News, on the front page there was an article called After 1000 years of perfection Princess Celestia is calling for retirement. next to it was the small article called Ambassador Sparkle: what kind of bright future holds for the student of Princess Celestia?

"I am afraid it is, dear sister," Princess Celestia answered, "I think that I simply became too old for this job."

"Too old? Is that even possible for us Alicorns?"

"Yes, it is. We aren't immortal Lulu, we just live long lives."

"But, who is going to replace you, sister?"

"I was thinking that maybe you want to take the position."

"Me!" Princess Luna said with surprise. "But I."

"It is okay Ambassador Sparkle told me everything. It was just a prank, is." Princess Celestia explained, "only this time I am quite serious"

"She did? Is she still your student?" Princess Luna asked

Princess Celestia nodded her head, "she is, she is quite brilliant isn't she?"

"I suppose."

"Don't worry Lulu I always be right next to you and I always give you an advice."

"Thank you sister, That's all I need to hear."

"Let bygones be bygones. It is okay Lulu I forgive you."

"Sister, when are we going to tell Blueblood that he isn't going to get the throne."

"Do we have too? I really don't want to."

Poniville Library, at the same time.

It's been two weeks since Princess Luna return. Upon the completion of the job the student of Princess Celestia and now the Equestrian Kingdoms newest Ambassador, she did what she was best it, the government paperwork. After that, she made a personal report to Princess Celestia, but all of this had been two weeks ago. Today have been com completely different news, this particular issue of Canterlot News was a few days old. By now the news of Princess Celestia retirement already had been knows all over Kingdoms. Meanwhile, Twilight Sparkle did receive a new letter from a Princess.

Dear Twilight, my most dedicated student. As you already know news about my retirement reached your ears, fear not Princess Luna is the very capable ruler and is going to be an excellent substitute to all of those snobby government officials. I figured it, it was up to me to invite you and one of your plus ones to the Grand Galloping Gala.

Twilight thought about it, Both she and The Princess knew all too well how the Grand Galloping Gala worked. While it was the most prestigious event of the year, It was also the most boring. It was a custom for the Princess to greet the guests, every single one of them. It took about two to three hours for all of the guests to arrive. Twilight Sparkle wasn't really sure why, but with her being occupied The Princess would have very little time for everything else.

As her student, she can't refuse to go to, and now with the new position of Ambassador that probably means that Twilight Sparkle had to go on the double.
The question is who she would take with her? Just for once she didn't want to take Spike, he probably spends all evening in the local restaurant that specializes in donuts, that traitor. There just one thing Twilight could try, the rules stated if she couldn't find somepony else to go with her, that means she could easily forfeit the invitation in the next 24 hours.

"Boss what do you have here," Pinkie Pie just came in for another shift in the library.

"Oh just an invitation to the Grand Galloping Gala," replied Twilight.

"I know this one, the most boring party in all of the Equestria, right?" Pinkie Pie offered sympathetically.

"Something like that, yes."

"I suppose I could go because I know you would be miserable in there, but since you are looking for an excuse to refuse the invitation wouldn't it be easier to just ignore it?"

"I thought about that, but if I simply did that it would be way too simple. Do you think the others would go if they knew about it?"

"Well, Applejack would be very disinterested in the event, but I am sure she would put the brave face. Rainbow Dash wouldn't really care, but she would probably go for the sake of publicity stunt. I know Fluttershy isn't interested as well, but she would go so she could sneak away into Royal Garden. That just leaves Rarity, she won't miss a chance to expand her social circles."

"Huh, well and here I thought I could make you all compete for the position of plus one."

"Yeah, that does sound like an awesome idea for the first episode, and is this when we first learn our friendship lesson."

"Don't you mean the third episode, Pinkie," Twilight corrected her "The first two episodes would be about me going to Ponyville to heroically prevent the invasion of evil Alicorn Princess."

"Oh right, sorry I forgot."

Twilight Sparkle heard from Pinkie, all about the idea that one day their life story should be adopted by Applewood in a television show, or perhaps in a few movies, or maybe both.

"So it settled then that all of us should go or none of us will!"

"Can we do that?"

"Don't know, but it is worth to try."

Twilight Sparkle took a quill pen and started writing: Dear Princess Celestia, I am afraid that I had to refuse your invitation to the gala. You see while I greatly appreciate it, I am afraid that all of my friends would like to go too. Since they can't that means I wouldn't go to. Once again thank you very much for the invitation, yours most dedicated student Twilight Sparkle.

"Now all that's left is to send the postal mail with the next train. Pinkie would you please tell them about the plan."

"Sure thing Twilight." Pinkie Pie saluted.

Two Days Later.

"Hi, Twilight Here is the new mail for you."

"Thank you, Ditzy have a nice day." Twilight then took a letter and went to her desk.

Dear Twilight Sparkle, my most dedicated student. Are you absolutely sure about this? Well, as long as you are sure, still I need to inform you that upon your request 11 complimentary invitations had been dispatched to their proper recipients.

Twilight looked surprised, out of everything she didn't expect this plot twist, that Princess Celestia remembers all of her friends. At best she thought that Celestia would just go and invite all her five friends in Ponyville, but now Moondancer, Colgate, Twinkleshine, Lemon Hearts and Lyra could go as well.
