Rainbow's Monday Blues

Rainbow Crash!

Rainbow Dash's alarm clock went off. Annoyed, she turned it off and put the covers of her bed over her head.

The weekend was over, and it was Monday. She wished the weekends never ended, even if there were some fun times at school, she just wanted to sleep in today.

Of course, now that she could run with super speed, she could always hold off until later, and then run to school really fast. She would usually do this every day.

Rainbow layed in bed for a bit, dozing off for a few minutes. When she woke up, she noticed the time on the clock. She quickly sat up and bolted out of bed. She was running late - again! This often seemed to happen on Mondays, but she was running later than usual this Monday.

She quickly got dressed for school and packed her backpack as fast as she could, and then she ran out her front door.

Into a hard rainstorm. Of course it would be raining today! Typical of a Monday.

After recovering from the initial shock, she ran, faster than her normal super speed. However, she'd barely been running for two seconds when she crashed into a construction site.

She rubbed her head and looked up. Those darn construction sites! This wasn't the first time she had crashed into one on a Monday!

She got up and looked for a way around it, zipping around at her regular super speed, and then found one. She started running faster than before to make up for lost time.

Rainbow ran straight at a crosswalk. At her speed she could never be hit by a car.

But that didn't stop her from crashing INTO a car.

She smacked into its side and fell down. This came as a surprise, for it had never happened before. The driver of the car gave her an annoyed look, and then drove off. Fortunately the car wasn't too terribly dented, and the driver had seen her crash once before, so he wasn't too concerned.

As a flash of lightning could be seen, Rainbow Dash got back to her feet and ran even faster than before. This was her second crash and she needed to get there... fast!

She ran across a grass field, but because of the rain she skidded on it and slammed right into a fence.

"Ow..." Rainbow Dash rubbed her head. How many times was she going to crash today? She got to her feet and continued to run at her lightning fast speed that could rival the flight of her pony counterpart.

Zipping around a corner, she collided with a woman walking a dog with an umbrella, and they both fell down.

"Sorry about that," said Rainbow Dash, helping her to her feet. "I'm in a rush!"

She ran even faster than the last time. Faster than she had ever run the last time she was running late.

Then she collided with a man riding a bike, and they both wiped out.

Rainbow Dash knew him, but not by name, for this wasn't the first time she'd crashed into him. He was also used to this, so he got back on his bike and rode off like nothing had happened, while Rainbow zoomed off just as fast as before.

At this point, the rain stopped, and the sun came out. A rainbow appeared in the sky, but she did not notice it at first.

She was running so fast that when it was time to take a hard turn, she couldn't turn in time, and smashed into the wall of a cafe.

Laying on her back, she could see the rainbow overhead. It would have been very funny if she wasn't in such a rush, and she'd probably laugh it off when it was over. Rainbow Crash crashed under a rainbow.

She got up, shook her head a bit, and ran even faster. She had lots of lost ground to make up! Now, Rainbow Dash was dashing under a rainbow!

A second or two later, she tripped over a stray dog and fell flat on her face.

"Hey, what's the big idea?" said Rainbow Dash, rubbing her head.

The dog tilted its head, looking quite unhurt despite having an extremely fast speedster trip over it, and walked the other way.

Rainbow got back up and ran as fast as before. However, she was still unused to this speed; only one second later she slammed face first into a stop sign on another hard turn.

She couldn't believe how often she was crashing today. This was starting to hurt!

She'd lost a lot of time with these crashes. She got to her feet and ran even faster than before. She did not know she could run this fast, but she pushed herself to run this fast to get to school on time! She had never crashed so much on the worst Mondays, or the rainiest. But then, she had never run quite as late as this before either.

She lost a bit of balance on a pothole in the sidewalk, causing her to go off course a bit and crash into another wall. Once she had recovered and dusted herself off, she ran even faster.

Her shoes started to burn from the intense friction. This had never happened before. She must be going almost as fast as the speed of sound! While her thoughts were on getting to school on time, a part of her wondered just how fast she could go. If she had flameproof shoes and a straight path to run, could she break the sound barrier? What if it caused a sonic boom? A rainbowfied sonic boom? A... Sonic Rainboom!

Somehow she avoided crashing for the rest of the way to school, running faster than she ever had in her life. She didn't even notice a stray kitten she ran by (not the same one that Sunset Shimmer had stopped to pet).

She finally dashed through the entrance of the school, narrowly missing crashing into Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity - and then crashing into a wall.

Her shoes were mostly burned through. Sunset and Pinkie helped her to her feet. It looked as though they'd had some trouble getting to school as well.

Applejack walked up to them, looking as though she had gotten to school without any trouble - until she realized she still had her slippers on. The girls laughed and Pinkie took their picture on her cell phone.
