//------------------------------// // Prologue: Past and Present Weddings // Story: My Little Star Butterfly 2: The Runaway Bride // by Omegathyst //------------------------------// Flashback 1 Star walked into Canterlot's castle wearing the most lovely dress she could find. It was the very first time that she came back to Equestria ever since she escaped all those months ago after the Changeling attack. And she probably wouldn't have come back if it weren't for the fact that Marco and Fluttershy were getting married today. Married. The idea was still getting settled in Star's head. She had a crush on her best friend back when they lived together in Echo Creek and she thought it died as soon as they arrived in Equestria but now she wasn't so sure. She never told him that she was coming to the wedding. Half of her wanted to object to it when the time came and the other half of her was just curious to see how it'd all play out. Throughout all her lessons of being a proper Queen back in Mewni, Star missed Marco miserably. Queen Moon was certain that she found the 'perfect' prince to marry her and become King of Mewni. Her mother allowed her to return to Equestria for the wedding, but that was because if anything happened to her, she had a younger sister that'd replace her. That's right. When her parents couldn't find her anywhere on Earth or Mewni, they conceived another child that could take over the thrown and they had Glossaryck use an aging spell on her to make her just a few years shy of Star's age. Desperate situations called for desperate measures she guessed. When she'd return to Mewni she was going to meet this supposedly handsome Prince. We'll see. Thousands of ponies showed up at it didn't take long for Star to learn that this was the first marriage of one of the Elements of Harmony and nopony wanted to miss it. She even saw pegasi flying above everyone else to see it and unicorns teleporting further in the crowd for a closer look. Star grit her teeth and shoved other ponies out of her way, angered by her earth pony body. Ponies snapped and glared at her but she didn't care. She needed to see this with her own eyes. Fluttershy and Marco were surrounded by all the bridesmaids that consisted mostly of the bride's best friends. Star almost felt like she was going to fall over on the spot. Why didn't she ever say anything to him? Because she was being selfish, focusing on controlling Twilight and fooling around with the residents of that crazy pony-land. And she knew Marco didn't want selfishness, he wanted kindness. "Fluttershy, do you take Marco Diaz to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Princess Luna asked Fluttershy. Star remembered the mysterious Princess of the moon as another one of the ponies that frowned upon her for her crime. Despite that, Star wouldn't mind trying to sleep with her after this joke of a wedding was over with. "I do." Fluttershy gave a warm smile and the Princess asked Marco the same question. "I do." The words that came out of Marco's mouth sent chills down Star's spine. The happier he sounded, the more uncomfortable every part of Star became. She didn't seem to be the only one, she looked across the crowd to see her ex-husband Discord looking uncomfortable as well. When he and Star were dating, he told her that he 'used' to be in love with Fluttershy. Star wasn't stupid. Even though the two developed feelings for each other, Marco held a place in her heart and Fluttershy held a place in his. Now both of them lost the people they loved. The events happened like some nightmare specially made just for her, and Star looked away right before they kissed. She could hardly believe that after all this time she never said anything. Not when he was in love with Jackie and certainly not when he started falling for Fluttershy. And now...they were married. When the crowd got up from their seats, Star changed her mind on trying to hook up with the Princess of the moon. All she wanted to do now was go back to Mewni. She began walking really fast instead of running to avoid ponies noticing her. "Star?" Star didn't have to look behind her to know it was Marco's voice. Star froze only for a moment before she broke into a full sprint as she pulled out the Dimensional Scissors from her dress and ripped a hole open before leaping into it as if a pack of bloodthirsty dragons were after her. She felt herself transforming back into a human in the travel back to Mewni and she closed her eyes in defeat knowing that pushing her feelings down would only make things worse. Flashback 2 "He may not be the one, but Mewni comes first!" Star exclaimed with a fake grin. The ponies around her including her former best friend, his wife, the rest of the Mane 6, her ex-husband, and her daughter looked happy or proud of her. But she knew that she was kidding herself. She didn't show up for Tom and Pinkie's wedding, she wanted to see Marco one more time before she'd be tied down by her future husband. When she met the weird human-creature hybrid that was going to be her husband, she felt nothing. He had moon-white skin with black dapples all over, gazelle horns, dragon wings, amber eyes, and long black hair. She should find him attractive...and she did. But no romantic feelings came to her whatsoever. Prince Sebastian of the planet of Mythius: one of the most fierce and intimidating planets known. He was three-fifths human, one-fifth gazelle, one-fifth dragon, and extremely rich. Well, his family was. She didn't care, she just wanted to make Mewni happy. "Hey Star, can I talk to you for a second?" Marco asked. Star felt chills as she realized that he was probably going to confront her about showing up to his wedding and running off. Star gave a long sigh. "Let's get this over with." Star muttered as the two ponies kept walking away from the group till Marco stopped in his tracks. "I think you already know what I want to talk about." Marco looked at Star with slight intensity. "So why did you run away when I called for you? I was happy to see you at my wedding and it just hurt my feelings." I hurt your feelings?! "I...I don't know." Star lied, pushing her thoughts down. "I only meant to be there for a short time and because you had Fluttershy I didn't want to bother you-" "Star! You'll always be my best friend! You're never going to be a bother." Marco wrapped his hooves around Star and she felt her heart break. "Now say 'I do'!" "Huh?" "Star? You're supposed to say 'I do!'" Star snapped out of looking back on the past and back to the present. The first thing she noticed was Sebastian's irritated amber eyes glaring back at her. "How long was I not answering?" Star whispered, realizing that she and Sebastian were moments away from getting married in front of royalty from Mewni and Mythius, including her mother. "Like...several minutes? Just say 'I do' so this doesn't get anymore awkward." Sebastian hissed quietly in frustration. Star opened her mouth to say those words but nothing came out. What if I still love Marco? Then maybe my journey in Equestria isn't over! What if I'm not ready to be Queen of Mewni? What if that's not my destiny and maybe my dedicated sister should be Queen? Oh my gosh I still have the Dimensional Scissors in my wedding dress! Maybe I could do this! Before Sebastian could express his frustration once more, Star bolted. She ran and took out the Dimensional Scissors and ripped a hole open to Equestria. The last thing that she heard before she left Mewni was Sebastian's vicious yell of anger.
