Part 1: The Return of Nightmare Moon

Chapter 1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was another day of eternal night in ponyville. It had been a week since Nightmare Moon had returned, which lead to the evil mare banishing Celestia to Tartarus. Of course, none of the residents in Equestria had been told about the terrible event that had happened. They started to suspect something was wrong when the sun didn't rise one morning.
It was a normal morning in ponyville, or so she thought. Rocky got out of bed, and walked down stairs into her kitchen.
Rocky was a lavender unicorn, with a violet and blue mane. She had beautiful green eyes that matched her green star cutie mark, which had a microphone and music note overlapping it. Below her two story home in ponyville was her shop. Her talent was singing. She had one of the most melodic voices ever heard. Sometimes, when she sang, birds would come to hear her voice. One thing about Rocky was that she never sang around strangers or others who she didn't socialize with. She loved to sing to her close friends and family, and to the birds of the air, but that was it. Rocky tended to be an introvert. She was shy around those she didn't know, but once she knew some pony, she was very open, but Rocky didn't have tons of friends. She was one of the quietest mares in ponyville. She didn't like to meddle with others, afraid she might offend some pony.
After having breakfast, she decided to go down to her shop, and then walk around town to look at the other shops. As she walked outside, at first she didn't notice that something was wrong. As she looked around, she saw many ponies looking strangely at the sky, as if something was different or peculiar. Rocky looked up at the beautiful twinkling stars, and the big glowing moon. The sky lit up so gorgeously with the moon’s delicate luminescence. Then, finally, it hit her. It was night time at nine in the morning. Rocky was so confused. How was it possible for the moon to still be up? Was Celestia just sleeping in this morning? She decided to go next door to her neighbor, Rose Film.
Now ever since the changelings were reformed, some chose to run off with Queen Chrysalis, to a new hive behind the badlands, and past the dragon’s territory, while others chose to live in ponyville. Rose Film was a reformed changeling. Rocky found that the changelings were rather kind, and Rocky was happy to have one as her best friend. Rose had always wished to be a pony, so she would always stay in her preferred pony form. She was a beige pony with a Caramel mane, and a big pink bow on the back of her head. She had big blue eyes and a camera as a cutie mark. Her talent was photography. She loves taking pictures of all the beauty that surrounds her. But, she does tend to worry. Rose Film was an ambivert. She could be super playful and outgoing, but at some times, be shy. Rose Film was a very kind pony, and loved to greet every pony she saw. She currently worked for Derpy at the ponyville post office, and was great at her job. Everyone seemed to love Rose. I guess she was just a very lovable pony.
Rocky ran next door and knocked on Rose's door. A tired pony with bags under her eyes opened the door.
"What is it Rocky? I was about to get ready."
"Rose! It's night!"
"So?"
"It's nine in the morning! Shouldn’t the sun be out by now?"
Rose ran outside onto the road. The sparkling night sky glistened in her eyes.
"If anything is wrong the princesses will handle it."
"I hope you're right Rose."
Later that day rumors had spread through ponyville. Rocky was terrified by the news. Princess Celestia had been banished to Tartarus. The worst part was, no pony but the princesses knew how to access the prison. With Luna and Celestia gone, there was only Cadence and Twilight. Cadence was too busy to come down to Canterlot and Ponyville. She had to rule over the Crystal Ponies. Therefore, Prince Shining Armor offered to come down and help his sister.
After a week, the night had been hard on the citizens of Equestria. The ponies were unable to harvest many of their crops. Most ponies were buying the remainder of supplies from Sweet Apple Acres, but even they didn't have enough to go around.
Rocky just keep reminding herself that Princess Twilight would save them, until one day, Rocky and Rose stumbled upon the horrible truth.
The two mares had gotten more and more doubtful as the days went by. No pony had heard any word from Twilight. The two impatient mares thought they should stop by her castle to see what was wrong, and possibly offer to help their princess.
"Are you sure this is a good idea Rose?"
"Trust me. We have to tell Twilight we really need her help. She can't wait in her castle forever."
"I guess you're right."
Rose fluttered by above Rocky. She was still in her pony form, but she used her changeling abilities to pop some wings. The two mares creaked open the door of the castle. It was so silent and eerie. They found that the door wasn’t all the way closed when they opened it. That meant that some pony must have been here not too long ago, and left the door open. They cantered up the staircase, and looked in many rooms, but there was no sign of Twilight or her friends. Then, finally, they approached the last room at the top of the staircase, Twilight's bedroom.
"I'll go in first Rocky."
"Ok Rose, I'm right behind you."
Rose Film froze in her tracks. A pale look washed over her face.
"What's wrong Rose Film?"
Rocky walked up behind her and saw what her friend was agape about. There, in the middle of the room, was a prison cage, with Princess Twilight in it. The two mares looked at the darkened and faded version of their Princess of Friendship.
The two mares weren’t sure what to do. At first, they tried prying the cage open, but it was no use. They tried using magic, but the bars wouldn’t even bend. Teleportation wouldn’t even work on it. Finally, they decided the best thing to do was to get help. They both rushed outside, and to their surprise, finding many ponies. In the middle of them was Prince Shining Armor, trying to calm them down.
Prince Shining Armor was trying to get everypony under control. Rose Film flew by and landed beside him. She leaned in and whispered in his ear. With a worried look on his face, the prince nodded at several guards who rushed into the castle.
Then lightning struck and thunder burst with an unforgettable ear-splitting sound. There stood Nightmare Moon before everypony, cackling evilly.
