//------------------------------// // Chapter 5A: A Royal Pain // Story: What Lies Behind Green Eyes // by Sky Feather //------------------------------// Chapter 5 (Part A): Royal Pain As we began to walk across the bridge separating Canterlot and Ponyville, I start to feel a sharp pain in my head. I flinch from the pain, but I don’t think Oliver saw. I was reassured that he didn’t, since he was already a little perplexed. We continue on, but the pain gets worse. I try to hide my pain, but it’s not going very well. It seems the closer I get to the town, the worse my head feels. I reached my breaking point, I could go on no further. I fell to the floor and began to scream, sounding like one of those screeches from a horror film. He turned to see me on the ground, crying in pain. “What’s going on?” Oliver blurts. It took a moment for me to realize what actually was going on. Eventually, I pieced it together. Abby left my “not-really-a-horn-anymore” horn. I only feel this kind of pain when she’s in my horn… She must be here!!! She must have messed with the weather! “Oliver, we need to find the princesses, right now.” “What?-” “We could be in grave danger. Bring me to the princesses.” We greet the Solar Princess with a bow and began to explain the problem. “This creature is on the loose, and we must find it!” “My Princess”, Oliver quickly adds. Princess Celestia, puzzled, asks us about its characteristics. “What does this creature look like?” “Well, it’s this floating indigo mass that usually infests the horn of a unicorn and turns their life into a mania.” “My Princess”, Oliver, again, concludes. “Luna may know of this creature, or at least I hope she will.” The Princess, Oliver, and I run down the stained glass hall. Into the bedchambers we ran, looking for the Night Princess. “Luna!” Celestia calls. Less than five seconds, we see a shadow down the turn of the hall. “Sister! I heard your call. What is the matter?” Luna questions her sister. “There is a wild spirit on the loose and we hoped you would know more about it.” Luna looks directly at me when Celestia informs her of Abby. “Is her name Abby?” Dumbfounded, I nod my head slowly. “Is she indigo and does she massacre others’ lives?” “Yes… How did you…?-” “No time to explain. We must find her.” Luna then yells "guards!" Shortly after, 8 bat-pony knights line up, saluting and all. “Emma, when did you last see Abby?” Luna quickly asks. “Last night, I think. I can’t exactly remember.” Now that I think about it, I can’t remember anything from yesterday. Maybe I’m just taking it all in too much. “Okay, so how are we going to track this thing down?” I ask with curiosity. “I’m using a spell where I can track down a spirit if needed. If I get it wrong, the spirit can be lost forever. So bear with me here, one moment.” She began the spell. At first, her aura was glowing. Then, she began to levitate and mutter what seemed to be an ancient chant. “Give me sight that many fear. Bring the spirit to me here. Show me all truth and no lie. Give me the forbidden eye!” Her horn was like a beacon in the torch-lit hallway. At this point, beams were flying every direction and it was complete chaos.
