#13- I FREAKING HATE RAIN!!!

Rainbow Dash POV

THUNDER! LIGHTNING! BANGBANGBOOMCRASH! ETC!

That's what I woke up to when Toby shook me awake.

"It's morning."

I yawned and stretched before climbing out of bed. Toby was now by the window, glaring at the rain. I walked over to him.

"It's storming like mad out there."

Toby glanced over to me before continuing his glaring match.

"You really don't like the rain do you?"

"FREAKING, HATE IT."

"Wow. Okay then, I guess i'll let myself out."

He snapped his gaze to me.

"NO!"

He tackled me and held me down while pleading.

"Please! Don't! I will drive myself insane alone!"

"Wha- Stop! Get off me!"

"Not until you stay! I cant do anything in the rain!"

"Why?!"

"Cause it's wet!"

I struggled furiously until he pulled me to his chest, turning my face bright blue.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG-

"F-fine! Just get off me!"

He backflipped and landed in a split on the floor, a huge grin on his face.

"HUZZAH!!!"

He popped back up and strutted out of the room as I frantically tried to cool my burning face. He put on a strange accent as he called for me. (Offensive Russian accent)

"Come Comrade! We have lots of things to do! Like Sandviches!"

I smiled and trotted down the hall to his living room. (The music room) He stood in the middle of the room and threw some instruments in a pile and grabbed some of his music. He grinned and began to play as the room suddenly darkened.

https://m.

Lights pulsed in sync with him playing as he began to sing. A disco ball lowered, giving the illusion of fireflies and soaking the room with multicolored light. I found myself drawn to the middle with my peculiar friend. I looked over his shoulder and began to sing the second verse. He laughed and suddenly flipped the keyboard around until it turned into one of those guitar-keyboard things. He danced and bounced in time as I enjoyed my solo. We sang the final chorus together and fell on the floor. I laughed. He laughed. This went on for a bit.

He slid the keyboard aside and looked at me. The accent was back.

"Sandviches?"

"Sure!"

"Wunderbar!"

"Wait what?"

He rolled into his kitchen.

"Means wonderful!"

I got on my hooves and followed shortly after him. Toby had removed his shoes and was sliding around the kitchen gathering bread and the like while humming.

He rummaged underneath a very tall sink and returned with two plates. I set to work and just made a PB+J sandwich while Toby just dumped the contents of his fridge onto his plate. I laughed and took a bite as I sat down at the kitchen table. He smiled at me as he sat.

"I'm glad you decided to stay by the way."

I huffed, "Not like you gave me much choice."

He laughed, remembering the struggle I put up.

"Oh yeah. Whoops."

"I've been meaning to ask you, why do you hate rain so much?"

He looked away, obviously reluctant. He sighed and gave a sad smile.

"Let's eat first... we won't have an appetite."

"Okay?"

His food was gone in a matter of him slamming his face into his plate. Just instantaneous. He stood and gestured me over to the couch in the music room. I gulped down the last bit of sandwich and hurried over to him. We sank into the couch as he took a moment to collect himself.

"Well," He began, "Let's start when I was sent into space as a kid. I didn't witness this part, I was just told about it. So, someone fragged over the Earth and killed a lot of people. Almost all of them. After the fact, It didn't rain for centuries, causing a huge drought and famine. Not long before I landed again, it finally rained. People rejoiced until they discovered an unfortunate happenstance. Imagine Earth was a loaf of bread."

"Loaf of bread?"

"Bear with me here. When it didn't rain, the Earth dried up and turned into a stale, crunchy loaf. When it rained again, well, Imagine dropping a rock on that loaf of bread. The ground broke apart and everything fell a good hundred feet before settling. Now, after that, The Steampunk age began, and the Sky was filled with smog and airships. I came back down to Earth right about here. The rain gradually started to thin out again until finally it stopped altogether. People waited and waited. Their was still water up there, a lot of it in fact. But it just didn't fall. Finally, after several years of this, Crops stopped growing. The sun was blotted out by the incredible amount of smog and water trapped in the sky above us. The King came up with a plan finally. If it wouldn't rain on its own, they'd make it rain. Not by your magical, pony methods, but by over ten tons of chemicals dumped into the clouds. It was the worst thing they could have done."

He stopped, seemingly able to see something I could not.

"Why?"

He said nothing for a moment.

"Of all of those chemicals, not one drop fell through the clouds. The airship crew that dumped it... on the way back down... died."

"Wha? How?"

"They drowned. In the same cloud that was hovering over all our heads. We waited an hour. Still, it did not rain. The sky began to darken. Still, it did not rain. The people began to worry and bicker. Still, it did not rain."

He gradually started to speak louder and more tearfully.

"We waited a week. Still, it did not rain. The clouds let absolutely no light through at night. Still, it did not rain. People began to rave at the sky. Still, it did not rain. The sun was no more, only a dull gray lit the world. Still, it did not rain. We waited ten days and twilight was the only sign of day. I could no longer see across the street. Still, it did not rain. Then.... then-"

He took a shaky breath and continued.

"Then I stepped outside to stare, and to listen. A strange sound had awoken us all. A rumble from the sky. 'Thunder!' They cried, 'We are saved!'"

He suddenly began to crescendo, getting louder and louder.

"The Sky grew darker, darker, yet darker. The crowds began to celebrate under the streetlights. I knew... I knew something was wrong. I stepped back."

I glanced to him only to be scared by his gaze. He wasn't even looking at me, but his eyes' pupils had turned into 'X's again. He was scared. He was scared of this story he was telling me. He could still see it, I could tell from the color draining away from his face. He trembled, froze once more, and spoke with more tension than a steel cable.

(Deep creeps here [rad poem tho])

"A single drop was the start. Our prayers were answered, Or so we thought. We looked to the sky, And we laughed and we cried. It seemed the King had saved our lives. And to this, nay we say. Many did not know this was their last day. For in the middle of their play, THE DELUGE came. And we the safe could not stay, Or our fate, would be the same." ("The Rain of Doomsday" by Tjtbomb)

"F-fate?" I stuttered.

This was the single most horrific story I have ever heard.

"Death. It was quick for those it caught outside. Others, like me, had it worse. A dense, huge, one hundred foot thick, black wall of water crushed everything uncovered, bending every roof backwards. Then came the flood. The black, red flood. I was nearly killed anyway. I was only ten years old. And yet, I was forced to swim through Hell's sea to live. Even though I lived, I was not unscathed. The events are permanently burned into my mind. And-"

He lifted his shirt. I was embarrassed and concerned at the same time. A long, black scar traversed his side. Not just black, it was a dead, consuming black. I felt as if I could see the Deaths of many in the wound. The small scars on his lip and neck were of the same color.

"-my body is scarred forever."

Nice muscles though.

It seems that despite all of his tragic story and those awful scars, I can still notice some nice abs.

Go figure.
