Sweet Victory

The Winner Takes All

Today is Saturday May 6th, 2017, 8:00 p.m. It's not just an ordinary Saturday night. No, sir. Tonight is the night that I'm going to win this singing competition. That's right; I've been practicing my vocals for an hour every day this week, and I've put enough strength to make it sound good. The only two competitors were me and Flash Sentry, aka 'The Edgy B***h'. He has one of the most beautiful voice in all of CHS. One time, he sang a song to his girlfriend Twilight Sparkle, and the next day, she told me how amazing his voice is. Man, I can't stand him! Anyways, me and him are in the finale, and we all get to see who'll win. The grand prize is $5,000!!! That's a lot. Well... not really. If I win this prize, I'm gonna buy myself a PS4 and pre-order the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition. The rest of the amount will be saved for college, of course. Let's just hope my dreams will come true.

All the students, including the principal and vice principal, were at the gym. That's where the competition took place. 5 minutes have passed, and Flash Sentry had finished singing 'Lonely is the Night' by Bill Squier (his favorite song and artist). They all cheered for him, obviously because of how his vocal sound. I didn't cheer for him, because I knew how much of an a**hole he is. He thanked the audience and walked out of the stage with his guitar. He saw me standing in the side of the stage, and walked towards me. I clenched my fists in case I felt like I wanna punch him. He said to me "Good luck, Ben. You're gonna need it" with a bit of sarcasm. He then walked back to his friends that were in the front of the stage.

"Well then, let's see if you can underestimate me when I sing my 'song of justice'", I said to myself with confidence as I looked at Flash with a disgusted look.

"Alright, students. It's time for our second and final contestant! Please welcome, Benjamin Melody!" Principal Celestia said as she was onstage. She then walked off stage to where her sister were as the crowd began to cheer loudly. I gulped nervously, and my heart began to beat faster and harder. I wasn't nervous when I sang in front of the audience during the quarter-finals and the semi-finals, but since this is the finale, the main event, I began to feel nervous, since I have a fewer chance of winning the cash prize. It's time I finish this.

I began to walk towards the center of the stage where the microphone is, and the cheering then went to silence. Before I begin to sing, I looked around and saw all of my friends there: Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Sunset Shimmer (my best friend). I even saw Lyra and Bon-Bon; we hang out most of the time, and they find me as smart, nice, and cute, due to my charisma. I saw my other friend, Vinyl Scratch, in which I find her taste of music as cool as mine. Lastly, next to her was her best friend, Octavia Melody. Octavia is my big sister, and I knew she was so beautiful. I'm not saying that I wanna date her or anything; that's pretty weird. I'm just saying that she looks great every day. The way she's dressed is the only reason why. Octavia and I love music; she plays the cello, while I play percussion instruments; and whenever we want to, we would hang out with Vinyl or ourselves; showing some sweet sibling love. I'm very lucky to have her as my sister.

As I stood there studying the audience's behavior for about 10 seconds, Octavia winked at me and gave me a thumbs up. I smiled, knowing that it made me feel a lot better. The audience, including Celestia and Vice Principal Luna, were having worried looks as to why I wasn't singing. After 15 seconds of silence, I began to sing the ‘song of justice’.

After I finish my song, I stood there, panting from all the energy I used on this song, and looked at the crowd. They all stood there in silence, their eyes widened from the event they experienced. I thought they were not gonna like it. I thought wrong. They all cheered and applauded so loudly that it was even louder than when Flash Sentry finished his song. Looks like I know who the winner is. Principal Celestia went on stage and walked next to me with her microphone. I knew where this is going.

"Well, looks like we know who the winner is... BENJAMIN AMADEUS MELODY!!" she yelled over the audience's cheering. They continued cheering for me, chanting my name.

Celestia looked at me, and said "Congratulations, Ben. You've done a great job."

I smiled and said "Thanks, Principal Celestia". As she walked back to where she was to get the grand prize, Octavia ran towards me, tears of joy running down her face, and hugged me so tightly I could barely breath.

"I can't believe you did it, Benny! I'm so proud of you!" she yelled.

I hugged her back, feeling the warmth and love between us. "Thanks, sis. I never knew this day will be so great for me," I said, trying to breath. We then broke the hug, letting myself breath once again.

Octavia looked at me in the eyes, and said to me "Me too, Benny. I'm so glad to have a talented little brother like you." She kissed me in the forehead, which caused me to blush. I always blush when I get a kiss from someone. It feels weird, but great.

"Well, you know what they say: two siblings is greater than one", I stated as I winked at her. She giggled at what I said, which made me chuckle as well. The cheering kept going for the next 30 seconds, but while this happen, Celestia came back with a bag filled with $5,000. My prize.

I took the bag from her hands as she said "Congrats, Ben. You deserve it." Octavia then hugged me once again, but not tight this time. As this happen, I looked around and I spotted Flash Sentry, an angry look on his face, and I finally get to do what I've always wanted to do: I flicked him off. He then ran away from the gym, probably heading home to cry about losing the competition. A few seconds before the closing of the event, I thought to myself 'Looks like my mission is finally a success. I finally get to buy what I really want, and let me say this: this has been a 'sweet victory' for me and my sister.'
