Chapter Two - Explanations

The royal family soon finished their breakfast and headed to Luna's chambers. It was time for everything to be revealed. No lies. Just truth.

"Now, can you please tell us everything? I will try to not faint this time," Twilight whined.

"We're almost there. It'll be more comfortable in my chambers than here," Luna replied.

Before anypony could complain, Luna teleported them to the door. She sent the guards away so they couldn't hear herself, Celestia, Twilight, and Rainbow Dash chat about this.

"Now, how did this all start? Wasn't Luna on the moon?" Rainbow questioned.

"I was indeed on the moon," Luna replied.

"Then how did you give birth to us?" Twilight asked.

"You two are a thousand years old," Celestia mumbled.

"WHAT?" the two sisters exclaimed.

"Yes...you are I'm afraid..." Luna whispered.

"Explain, please," Twilight commanded.

"Three years before Nightmare Moon, I fell in love with a bat pony. His name was Shadow Blood. He was part of my guard, so I got to see him often. Shadow and I started seeing each other more and more, until he proposed to me," Luna started.

"I accepted, of course. But, when I went to tell Tia about my proposal, she forbid it, saying 'princesses shouldn't really get married, dear sister.' I went behind her back and did anyway. Shadow and I held it in the castle gardens back in the Everfree Castle."

"As we said our vows, an unwanted guest came and crashed our marriage. It was Celestia, but she wasn't very pleased. I told her that I will keep it hidden, and Tia left it at that."

"She was being quite stubborn, but as time went on, my sister started becoming very fond of your father. That was before he was killed. The captain of my guard sent him to battle the griffons invading our territory of Equestria. I cried very hard, considering that I had nopony else."

"Months after his death, I got over it. But, I found out that I was carrying you two. Our love must have been strong enough to be able to have kids. I was very excited, but again, when I told my sister, she didn't approve. 'I knew this would happen!' I was devastated she didn't want you two."

"About a year before Nightmare Moon, you two were born. The most beautiful alicorns I have met. Tw~"

"Wait, wait, wait, you need to tell me I'm an alicorn?!" Rainbow Dash interrupted.

"Yes, now may I continue?" Luna asked, annoyance in her voice.

"Yeah, go ahead."

"Okay, where did I leave off? Oh right! Twilight, I named you after the twilight sky, and how you sparkled under the stars. Rainbow, you were named after your mane. Dash wasn't part of your name untill you started flying. Then you became Rainbow Dash."

"You two loved each other. Hung out, played, slept sometimes even. It was so adorable. Celestia started playing with you guys too. It was all wonderful untill my jealously took over. I didn't think ahead, just thinking I would win."

"..."

Luna choked on her tears. She was fully sobbing by now.

"I-i didn't e-even get to say goodbye to you guys," Luna cried.

Rainbow and Twilight glanced at each other. They had the thought to help comfort their mother, princess, and friend.

Dash and Twilight walked up to Luna. They sat down, and nuzzled her.

"It's okay Lu~mother. We're here now," Twilight ensured.

"Thanks, my little stars. Now, I really should continue."

"Okay, but if it hurts you can stop."

"When I was sent to the moon, I was me. Nightmare Moon was no more. I started crying. Sobbing. Bauling my eyes out."

"Nightmare Moon didn't come back untill it was the year of the thousandth Summer Sun Celebration. I told myself that I would rid my sister from this world. I wasn't myself. And when I did return, I did just what Nightmare Moon wanted. I banished Celestia to the sun. It can't burn her, being the sun princess and all, but she wasn't on this world."

Twilight and Rainbow gasped at this. They looked at their aunt, who nodded; meaning, it was true.

"When I went to Ponyville, I saw you two. 'It can't be! Twily and Dashie are long gone! was all I told myself. I acted like you two were Celestia. Not knowing it was my daughters."

"I didn't realize it was you two until Twilight called out your names and the elements you represent. I cried inside, almost going back to Luna. That was untill the nightmare took full control of me."

"You saved me. And for that, I will be forever grateful. I would be even more if you just forgive me, but I know it won't happen just like that," Luna finished.

Twilight looked puzzled. She didn't get how they didn't remember this or why they are so young looking still. Not to mention Rainbow is supposed to be an alicorn.

"Lun~mother, I'm never gonna get use to that. Mother, what about when you were still on the moon? How do we not remember this? I'm so confused!" Twilight questioned.

"That's where your aunt comes in. Ask her, I admit I have no idea," Luna admitted.

Rainbow Dash and Twilight turned their heads to their aunt. She sighed, and took a deep breath before starting with part of the story.

"When Luna went to the moon, it was the saddest day of my life. It was even worse when I remembered you two. I rushed to your guys' room, staring down. What I saw was horrible. You had a dark magic effecting you both. If I didn't remove it, you might have died."

Rainbow's jaw dropped. Twilight just sat there, flabbergasted. When no words were spoken, Celestia started again.

"I knew the only way to save you was to remove some of your magic. I took both of your Earth Pony magic, but the rest was different. I knew both of you guys were better at one thing than the other. So, since Rainbow was a better flyer than Twilight, she kept her pegasus magic. And Twilight, you were better at magic. You still had your horn and wings, so I put an magical Glamour on you two. Which means it wasn't seen or felt."

"After I was done, you two fell into Magic Comas. They kept you young and stopped you from getting older in appearance. You didn't wake up until eighteen years ago. Then I put you in different families. It was very unfortunate that came to be. I couldn't put you together because you don't really look alike. Twilight's 'brother' Shining Armor looks a little like her, having his Cutie Mark be a star like hers. Rainbow, I put you with the only ponies who promised to send you to flight school to learn how to fly."

"The day you got your Cutie Marks was amazing. The reason why you have such great abilities in what you do is because Alicorn magic was left in your bodies. It must of mixed into the magic you only had at the time. Which means, you still had a little Earth pony strength, Unicorn Magic, and Pegasus Magic."

"I invited Twilight into my castle so I could at least get to know one of my nieces. But when she moved to Ponyville, I realized that Rainbow Dash lived there. I wanted you guys to become friends. That way when this time did come, it wouldn't be as bad as trying to get along with a complete stranger."

Twilight nodded in response. She knew that what her aunt said and did was true. Twilight just couldn't get over the fact that she was a thousand years old.

"So, we're both alicorns?" Dash interrupted Twilight's train of thought.

"Yes you are. Heirs to the throne," Luna replied.

"Um. I think I need some more to think about this," Dash stated, rubbing her temples.

"It's okay. If I was told that my whole life was a lie, I would need some time too," Luna said.

"But is there anyway to give me my horn back?" Rainbow asked.

"Yes there is," Celestia replied.

"Then can you give it back? It would be so awesome to be an alicorn!"

"Uh, yes I can. But, it'll take some time."

"Do it please! I want to be an alicorn!" Rainbow pleaded.

"You basically already are one. I mean, you were born as one Dashie," Luna giggled.

"Oh right," Dash said plainly.

After a few seconds of thought, Celestia's horn glowed with a pale yellow aura. Around Rainbow Dash was the same color. A few seconds later, a horn the size of Twilight's appeared. Luna conjured a mirror up for her to look at her reflection.

"Whoa! This is... SO AWESOME!" Rainbow exclaimed, jumping around as high as Pinkie Pie could.

"It does suit you rather well," Celestia admited.

Does this mean we're all good?" Luna asked, hope in her eyes.

"I don't know. I mean like, why tell us now? Why not when mother came back? It still doesn't make any sense!" Dash exclaimed, question in her eyes.

"Do you want the full explanation?" Celestia asked, sighing.

"Yes!" they exclaimed in unison.

"Well, I was planning on telling you years before your mother came back, but you wouldn't understand as well. That's what I truly thought. But I realize now that I was just afraid. Luna wasn't with me. You are her kids, and she should be the one to tell you," Celestia started.

"But then I came back from the moon. Tia kept bugging me about it, while telling me how much she missed me," Luna said, rolling her eyes at her sister. "Anyway, I didn't want to because I knew you would hate me for it. And I was right. Twilight fainted when she found out. But that's not important right now. Five years after, I finally gave in. Celestia doesn't let something go if she really wants it just to let you know."

It was Celestia's turn to roll her eyes. She pushed Luna and Luna pushed back. They started laughing after a while of pushing each other.

"So...can I try my horn out?" Rainbow asked.

Twilight nodded. "Just try to lift this book," she replied, conjuring a book up with her magic.

"How?"

Twilight sighed. She knew this was going to be hard to help Dashie.

"Reach out with your magic. Imagine picking it up. Find your unicorn magic within you and use it," she tried to explain.

Dash's horn sparked with dark blue.

Another spark.

More sparks.

Finally, after several tries, Dash got her horn to glow in her aura fully with the occasional flicker.

"Woah this is so cool!" Dash exclaimed.

"I know right! The more spells you learn, the more fun it is!" Twilight replied excitedly.

"No not that, my magic color thingie!"

"Magic aura," Twilight corrected.

"Whatever. Just look! Its a dark blue! That looks good with my colors," Dash bragged.

Twilight facehoofed. Dash didn't realize that wasn't what magic is all about.

"Ugh. Just try to lift the book okay?" Twilight asked.

"Alright, alright. I am!" Dash exclaimed.

After a few tries, Rainbow got her horn to light and started attempting to move the book towards her.

One try, didn't work.

Two tries, didn't work.

Several tries later, it still didn't work.

After what seemed like a hundred tries later, the book still stayed on the ground.

"This is hard!" Dashie complained, sweat rolling down from her brows.

"It gets easier. You just have to keep trying," Twilight encouraged.

"It better," Dash grumbled.

"So, who's up to a meeting with some politics? We can announce your heir to the throne," Celestia asked, changing the subject.

"Uh, fine," Twilight mumbled.

"I guess," Dash agreed, slightly louder than what Twilight said. "But we still don't accept it."

"I don't expect you to just like that," Luna said.

Together, the royals all trotted into the throne room while Celestia requested a meeting.
