The Guardian From Afar 2: Hateful Vengeance

Epilogue

Spoiled Rich's funeral took place after William went to court. ROYAL court. After he and Scootaloo explained everything, the case was determined to be an act of self-defense, and he was let go. It turns out that Spoiled Rich didn't take her medicine for two days, and her temper got the best of her.

At the funeral, the atmosphere couldn't be worse. William felt an incredibly large amount of guilt as he saw Diamond Tiara sob over the death of her mother, and Filthy Rich spacing out into the distance. After the ceremony, Spoiled Rich's open casket was out on a table for anyone who wanted to say any final goodbyes to her. Everypony paid their respects. Diamond Tiara looked down at her dead mother, tears falling.

"I love you, Mom," she said before kissing her hoof and touching it to Spoiled's head.

She walked away from her mother, and saw William. The man who took her mother's life. William looked back at her with an equally-sad expression. She approached him, and William expected the worst. However, she said something that was COMPLETELY unexpected.

"I don't hate you, Will. You didn't know," Diamond Tiara said.

Before William could respond, Diamond already walked away. He then looked to the side and saw Filthy Rich staring at him with an emotionless expression.

"Filthy Rich," William started, "I'm...I'm so sor-"

"Don't talk to me," Filthy Rich said, "I'll never forgive you for this. This whole thing being an accident is the only thing stopping me from finding some way to make you pay. All I'm going to say is this: We are no longer friends. I'll forever hate you for what you did. We shall never speak again as long as water is wet. You got that?"

William nodded, and Filthy Rich walked away without saying another word.

Will then approached Spoiled's casket and looked down at her. tears began falling from his eyes as he spoke to her.

"Why did you have to do it?" William asked, tears dripping from his eyes, "I never wanted it to be like this. I'm sorry."

Applejack approached him from behind and taped him. He turned around and gave her a hug. She hugged back, and tried to comfort him.

"It's alright, Will. I'm here for ya," Applejack said.

"I never wanted this to happen," William said, bursting into tears.

"Shh, it's okay."

For the next ten minutes, they stayed there hugging each other. It was an emotional time not just for them and the Rich family, but for all of Ponyville.

We exited the funeral home after they carried Spoiled Rich's body out to be buried. Applejack and I walked together and sat on a bench. A long moment of silence passed before I broke it.

"So that's it," I said, "She's gone. I feel awful. I just took the life of someone who was loved and adored by a family."

"You didn't know, Will. It was an accident." Applejack said, "Don't worry."

Applejack then turned her head and kissed my cheek. It did make me feel a little better. I wrapped my arm around her and held her close to me. We sat there for a long time, holding each other. It is the sad truth that these things happen sometimes, and life does go on.

And as hard as it may be, we just have to accept it.
