Holding Onto You

Chapter Eleven: Teething Rings

“Mmmm.” Scootaloo moaned, rolling her body away from the televisions vibrant bluish glow and onto her back. Staring upwards at her aunt’s chin with a drowsy look on her face, she stretched out her arms and yawned.

Responding to her niece, the aunt looked down at the Scootaloo with a loving curiosity. “Awe, what’s wrong Scooty Booty? Is the movie not entertaining enough?” she questioned, reaching out her hand and gently brushed her long white fingers through the girl’s thick magenta bangs.

“Ahhh.” The little on sounded quietly, closing her mouth and crossing her arms over her tummy. With a somewhat comfortable but glazed expression on her face, she responded. “Heh, I think I hafta potty.”

Slightly relieved by her niece’s silliness, Fluttershy raised a brow. “Oooh, is that all? I thought you were getting tired or bored. I guess that explains why it’s so- uh, stinky in here.” She said resting her palm on her neice’s forehead. Sheepishly she rectified her comment, “Well, not stinky. Just uh- funny.”

Scootaloo rolled her eyes and sat up on her diapered butt, then threw her legs over the front of the couch. She stretched out her arms gracefully, feeling exceptionally warm in the blanket-like snugness of her white fleece footie pajamas. “Mmm, is it just me. Or are footie pajamas like- really toasty.”

“Oh, are they Scootaloo?” The women asked as she watched her niece waddle over to the stroller in the corner of the living room, right by the aquarium. Sitting up straighter on the couch, the women leaned in with a curious posture as she watched her niece wander to a darker section of the living room.

In an attempt to claim some privacy. Scootaloo grabbed the handles of her stroller, held onto them and squatted just enough that her face was half-hidden by the awning.

Rather amused by her niece’s antics, Fluttershy smirked. “Scootaloo, you clever little girl. Is someone making an uh-oh?”

Scootaloo blushed smirking a little as she flexed her core just enough to incite a response. Then- with a slight breath, a wild smile grew across her face as she felt her stomach relax and her backside feel a little muddy. Like the baby she strided to be, she stood up like she did nothing and waddled back over to her aunt with her bemused expression on her face.

“Ooh, I was right!” Fluttershy giggled, a little amused by the sudden appearance of an icky smelling odor in the air, “Scootaloo did make herself stinky pants, didn’t she? Hehe!”

The girl toddled up to the couch and climbed on top of it. “Hehe, mmmhmm!” she nodded, almost proud of her ‘accomplishment’.

“Woah!” Fluttershy exclaimed, turning her head away from her niece for a brief second. “Heh, sorry. I’m not used the smell of uh- poop yet.” She said standing up from her seat. Reaching her arms in the air, the women did a small stretch and yawn.

Scootaloo casually sat down on her dirty backside and looking up at her aunt. “Geez, it’s not like it’s THAT bad.” She defended herself, blushing a tad at her aunt’s comment.

Rolling her eyes, the women continued making her way towards the kitchen. “Heh, if I hurt your feelings Scooty-Booty. But, it’s an uh-oh after all and as someone who’s babysat for years, I can say it won’t get a whole lot better.”

Scootaloo tracked her aunt’s movement with the pan of her neck, then hopped back on her feet. “Wait- why are you going to kitchen?” Scootaloo asked, waddling her way into the room. The soft-rubber like soles of her footie pajamas turning the movement of her feet into almost unnoticeable *thump* sounds.

Fluttershy opened the fridge’s thick aluminum door and peaked her head inside. She grabbed an empty clear bottle in one hand and a gallon of milk in the other. Tilting her head to the side, Fluttershy read the date- finding that the pasteurized milk didn’t expire until 7-19-2017; or week from now. Content, she stood up and let the door gently swing shut.

“Aunty?” Scootaloo said, just a foot behind Fluttershy.

“Eeeek!” Fluttershy sounded, doing a small jump as she tossed the empty bottle into the air.

Puckering her lips, Scootaloo backed up just a little as she watched what she could assume was her bottle- go flying in the air.

Fluttershy smirked a little, turning around at her niece. “Heh, okay so maybe you don’t smell THAT bad.” She said, turning towards the fridge. Bumping the door open for just a second, she reached in and grabbed another plastic bottle.

“Heh, sorry.” The child confessed. Continuing to trail behind her aunt in the kind of bow-legged waddle motion her full pants forced her to make. “I just wanted to see what you were up to. You like- split without saying anything.”

Fluttershy walked over to her granite counter top and set down to the two containers. “Heh, it’s fine lovey. I was just uh- surprised is all.” She said, unscrewing the plain bottle’s pink top, “I just figured I get your baba ready. It’s kind of getting late.”

“What?” Scootaloo asked, crossing her arms. “But, it’s like only ten.”

“Exactly. Babies need at least ten hours of sleep.” The women lied, tilting the milk carton just enough to poor in about 350 ml of fluid. In reality, ten hours of sleep was healthy for a girl Scootaloo’s age. An actual preschooler like Scootaloo was trying to emulate should at least get 12 hours of sleep.

Being the curious girl she was, Scootaloo grabbed onto the counter top’s edges and rested her chin on it, watching as her aunt picked up an aluminum can of sorts. “Wait- what are you putting in my drink?” she questions, as a powder substance was spooned from the can into her bottle.

“It’s kind of a vitamin supplement, Scootaloo.” Fluttershy answered, setting down the wet metal spoon and screwed the pink plastic lid back onto the bottle. Picking the container up, she shook it lightly in her hand turning the once pristine white cow milk into a pink pirouette strawberry-milk hybrid. Looking down at her short niece, she offered her the bottle. “It has vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin, E, calcium, and fiber.”

Scootaloo reached up and grabbed the bottle with both hands. Curiously, she brought the bottle’s amber nipple up to her lips and gently sucked on it. The minute the milk splashed onto her tounge, the sensation of the yummy strawberry flavor enlightened her taste buds. “Oh wow, that does taste good. I think I like strawberries!”

“Heh, is that right?” Fluttershy questioned, setting the spoon and the bottle that was on the floor in the sink. Picking up the gallon of milk, she walked over to the fridge. “Well, you can have as much as you want. Although if I were you, I wouldn’t save that bottle for the morning. The rule of thumb is that for every hour pasteurized milk is out, it loses a day of refrigeration; so that bottle has about seven hours to be good.”

Scootaloo looked up at her aunt, too busy suckling on her bottle to speak.

Walking back over to the girl, the aunt reached down with her hands and lifted her by the underarms with an audible ‘hmmph’ noise.

Scootaloo looked a little perplexed as she felt herself levitated in the air. Being the little helper she was, she took a break from her bottle and wrapped her arms around Fluttershy’s neck. For a second, she nearly wrapped her legs around Fluttershy’s torso. But the sudden apperence of a hand firmly supporting her backside qued her to stop.

“Ooh wow.” Fluttershy smiled, fairly impressed by the balance of her own snuggle hold, “You’re always much lighter than I think you’ll be.” She complimented, continuing to wrap an arm comfortably around her little one’s back.

Scootaloo smiled, resting her head on Fluttershy’s shoulder. Between the snugness of diaper and t-shirt against her body, the warmth of her fleece footies, and the smell of Fluttershy’s vanilla scented perfume, she practically melted in her aunt’s embrace.

“Hehe, I’d say you’re almost adorable if it weren’t for your soiled diaper.” Fluttershy giggled, planting a small kiss on Scootaloo’s forehead as she carried her. “I guess that’s the same for all babies though.”

Smirking a little, the child couldn’t help but gush a little emotionally. “Heyyy! Am notta baby. Just cause I’m stinky doesn’t mean I’m a little kid.” She smiled, as she was carried down the hall.

Admiring her niece’s resilence, Fluttershy nodded. “Heh, you’re not wrong. I guess you could still be a big girl who has accidents.” She said, using her foot to move Scootaloo’s nursery door open a tad. “Of course, no big kid would still sleep in a crib though.”

Scootaloo pouted a little but still kept a slight smile. “Sooo.” She commented, as if her response were a refutation of sorts.

“Heh, honey. Don’t get fussy right before bed.” Fluttershy cooed, walking the girl over to the crib. Lifting her little one in the air by her underarms, with on swift movement she got Scootaloo up and over the crib’s gate.

Scootaloo instinctively hiked her legs over the bars and then released them like a spring. Very suddenly, her rubber-soled footies made contact with the thinly veiled mattress and the pressure holding her up was removed from under her arms.

“Heh… there.” Fluttershy sounded, relieved to get her niece into the crib without resorting to setting her down and crawl in. “Momma bear has still got it.”

“Hehe, my mattress is so squishy.” Scootaloo smiled, gripping the crib’s bars and doing a small hop. “Where are my blankets and stuff through?”

Fluttershy peered down at the foam mattress, taking note of the liner, the one big pillow, and the sheet; all of which were covered in their own unique hues of purple, pink, and white. However, her eyebrow rose high in the air when she realized something- she didn’t put in her baby’s plushie. “Ooh, no! You’re right! Gimme a second!” She said, scrambling over to the closet.

Scootaloo tilted her head to the side, unable to really do much more than stand and gawk as she watched her aunt’s jeans sway back and forth a little bit in front of the closet. To her dismay, Fluttershy turned around with less than she was expecting.

In one hand, Fluttershy carried a big white bunny and in the other she carried a big white blanket covered in pink stars, multi-colored sparkles, and blue moons. “Ooh, what’s babyhood without your very own stuffy and blanky to keep you warm?” she asked as she walked back over to her little one’s bed.

Pouting a little, the child fell on her dirty backside and brought her cold bottle to her chest, “Wait- what about my comforter, and my sheets, and a second pillow?”

“Honey…” Fluttershy answered, reaching an arm over the crib and gently set down the big white bunny. “You don’t over-stuff a crib Scootaloo- especially during the summer.” She answered, reaching her other arm over the crib and set down the velvet-like throw blanky. “That’s why babies were blanket sleepers dear- so that their sheets don’t roll off of them and or suffocate them.”

Scootaloo, being the complacent girl she was. Grabbed ignored, the big white bunny plushie and laid down hugging it against her chest as she stared up at her aunt. “Well, I guess it’s still comfy in here. But what if I get cold at night?”

Fluttershy smirked a little, looking down at her little one with a sympathetic grin. “Awe, baby. If you get cold, you can bundle yourself in your blanky.” She said, gripping the Scootaloo’s crib rail with her own hands. Lifting a single finger, she flicked the ‘on’ button to a mysterious white button that was hunkered onto the thing. “See this radio looking thing, Scootaloo?”

Curiously, Scootaloo looked up just long enough to gaze at the white contraption. “Well, kinda. It’s a little dark in here.”

“Well, it’s called a baby-monitor’ Fluttershy answered with a little gently grin, “It lets me listen into everything that goes on in this nursery when I’m not in it. I’ve got the other part speaker in my room.”

“That’s kinda creepy. Hehe.” Scootaloo giggled a little, using her left hand to bring her bottle to her lips.

The aunt smiled coyly at her little one’s comment. “Well, Scoots you’re not wrong. But, if you ever need me late in the night you just have to call and I’ll drop everything I’m doing to help you. Alright?”

“Alright.” Scootaloo answered, nodding her head a little.

“Good.” The women smiled, blowing her baby a kiss. “Have a nice night, pumpkin.”

Scootaloo, watched as her aunt paced further and further to the entrance of the room. With a flick of the switch, the room went dark all but for a gentle white flower night light and the ambient light coming in from the hallway through her open door.

Admittedly, she was awful cozy and warm in her footies. Even if her ‘accident’ was starting to make her backside a little cold and clammy, as long as she stayed still it didn’t bother her much. In a slow steady movement, she hugged her stuffy closer and nestled her nose into back of the its head. Her eyes flickered a tiny bit, as she her mind struggled to function.

Lazily, she lifted her head just enough to rest her chin on top of the bunny’s head and brought her bottle up to her lips with her left hand. As she engrossed herself in the taste of her flavorful strawberry milk, her suckling seemed to sink perfectly with the rise and fall of her chest until it became an afterthought. As her eyes slowly drifted close, her hand lost its grasp. And she was left cuddling up to her big stuffed bunny, suckling on her bottle’s rubber nipple like it was a pacifier. Contently snoozing in the warm confines of her blanket sleeper, inside her crib, inside her new home.

***

“Sweetie… wake up. It’s almost nine.” Fluttershy mused, reaching her hand down rubbing her niece’s fleece covered thigh.

“Mmm?” Scootaloo questioned, opening her eyes and yawning. To her surprise, on all sides she was surrounded by a white wooden cage and in her arms, was a gigantic stuffed bunny- about half her size. Looking up, she saw her aunt’s aquamarine eyes glistening in the morning sun.

With an excited grin on her face, Fluttershy grabbed the crib’s gate and undid the two safety latches, lowering it down. “Heh, someone seems like she had a good night’s sleep.”

Scootaloo smiled nodding a little as she sat up. Still fairly relaxed in the warmth of her onesie, she did a small stretch, gripped her hands extra hard and yawned loudly. Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, she hopped down off the bed and onto her carpeted ground.

Fluttershy walked up to her niece and lifted her up by the underarms. “Come on Scootaloo.” She said, walking her niece to the other side of the room.

“Huh, what’s up?” The child questioned, raising an eyebrow a little. “Where are we going?”

“We’re getting you changed, silly.” Fluttershy smirked a little, as she lifted her niece on top of the changing table’s vinyl changing matt.

Aware of the routine, Scootaloo leaned back resting her head on the changing table’s pillow and spread her legs a little.

Leaning forward a little, Fluttershy undid the footie pajama’s safety strap and unzipped the sleeper from the neck all the way down the right leg. “Heh, sorry I didn’t change you sooner sweetie. I wasn’t planning on sleeping in this late myself.”

Scootaloo shifted her head, looking over at her abandoned white-rabbit plushie. “Why are you sorry, cause you woke me up sooner than usual?”

“Not quite.” Fluttershy said, helping to ‘unlace’ Scootaloo’s arms from their respective sleeves, as well as her feet from her pajama’s footies. “Could you lift your back dear?”

Compliantly, Scootaloo did a half sit up allowing her aunt to tug the pajamas from underneath her back. “Than what are you sorry about?” She asked, wincing a little as her lightly veiled back made contact with the changing table’s cold vinyl.

Casually, Fluttershy wrinkled her nose a little as she undid her the tapes of her niece’s saggy discolored diaper. “Cause, I may have waited too long to change your diaper.” She said, grabbing Scootaloo’s feet and lifting them in the air. “Uh- keep your backside lifted dear.” In a quick manner, she pulled the soiled diaper from underneath her bottom and made quick work to ball it up.

Taking a quick glance at Scootaloo’s backside, she sighed in a relieved manner. “Ooh, good.”

Scootaloo raised an eyebrow, looking in between her legs and at her aunt. “What’s going on?”

Pulling out her wipes, Fluttershy began wiping Scootaloo’s bottom. “It’s nothing dear. I was just worried that you may have gotten a rash or infection. But, I think you’re good.”

"Oh.” The girl said, resting her head back on the pillow. She took a deep breath and folded her arms over her tummy staring up idly at the white speckled ceiling. “Why didn’t you change me last night?” She asked, a little perplexed by her aunt’s decision.

Pulling out the powder, Fluttershy began started diligently pouring it down. “Ooh, no real reason I guess. Honestly, I just wanted you to uh- get used to the feeling.” She said, twisting the baby powder’s cap shut. Ducking down over to the side of the changing table, she popped open the side drawer.

Smiling a little, Scootaloo felt as a new diaper was slid under her backside and crept up to the small of her back. “I’ll be honest, I kind of forgot about it after I went.” She confessed.

“Really? I’ve never worn diapers- but I remember having an accident when I was younger. I thought it was at least noticeable- if not pretty uncomfortable.” Fluttershy said, tapping Scootaloo’s ankle. “Uh- lower your backside dear.”

Following her aunt’s lead. Scootaloo let her legs fall onto the changing table and watched as the front of the diaper was pulled over her waist and the back tapes were wrapped snuggly around the front.

Sitting up on her diapered backside, Scootaloo playfully kicked her feet. “Heh. I mean, when you’ve had bladder issues your whole life it’s kind of different I guess.” She said, looking over at her aunt with a little bit of an earnest smile, “I mean, if anything the diaper makes it practically unnoticeable. Even when I went number two, it became an afterthought I did something else.”

“Heh, maybe I’ve been wearing the wrong kind of underwear all along.” Fluttershy teased her niece, grabbing her bare foot and shaking it.

“Hehe, nooo!” Scootaloo giggled, pushing herself forward on the changing table a little. Hopping off, she landed her jump and looked up at her aunt with a smile. “It’d be awkward if you wore diapers. I mean, especially with when they have cartoons and stuff on them, they do make you look a little goofy.”

Holding back a chuckle, Fluttershy patted her niece’s head. “Heh. Well you’re not wrong Scoots.” She said pacing over to the wardrobe. “Well, unless you wanna keep looking goofy. We outta get you into something a little pretty for the day. How would you feel about a sun suit?”

***

There she stood, four foot tall dawned in her ‘sunsuit’. While the outfit itself was predominantly white, the outter seems, shoulder straps, and the accents were a uniquely dark purple colour, with an orange butterfly in front of the heart for good measure. However, being a sun suit, the nature of the beast put the most emphasis on pompous nature of big backside- dawning it a flurry of purple and orange ruffles.

“Wow.” Scootaloo uttered, looking at her side from the mirror. “And- you want me to go to go get breakfast with you in this?”

“Whaaaat?” Fluttershy questioned, curiously circling the girl with a somewhat proud smile on her face. “A sun suit is appropriate attire for the summer and you look absolutely adorable in it.”

Nervously, Scootaloo rubbed her shoulder. “I dunno. I mean I know I’ve been out in kind of babyish outfits before. But sunsuits are like- really babyish and I kind of look good in it.”

“Exactly.” Fluttershy assured the girl, walking up behind her. She crouched down and ducked her head next to the girl, curiously brushing her fingers through her head. “I mean, as much as I like babying you. I also like to boost your self-confidence dear. If you’re going to spend the rest of your life reliving your diaper-days, you might as well rock it. You know?”

The girl blushed a little but nodded, grinning slightly. “Y-yeah, I guess you’re right. I should embrace my babyhood a little more.”

“That’s the spirit. Now come on. I’ve got your car seat hooked up, your stroller in the back, and a nice little toy for you to play with on your way there.” Fluttershy said, grabbing her niece’s hand and standing up.

A little surprised, Scootaloo took one last glance at herself in the mirror and then found herself tugged the other direction. Smiling, she toddled faster to keep up with her aunt’s pace. “Hehe, wait for me. It’s still kind weird to walk.” She said, still fairly uncoordinated in her cheap orange flip-flops.

“Oh, sorry dear.” Fluttershy apologized being sure to take things extra slow as the duo made their way down the stairs. Making it on the base level of the house, Fluttershy grabbed the stylish gray diaper bag off the coat hook and made her way out of the house.

“Wooah.” Scootaloo smiled, a little taken away by the scenery of the front yard. All around her, the sun shined through the radient green leaves, the blue morning glories that sprung up the sides of the concrete bird baths were in full bloom, and the butterflies and colourful birds that lived in the trees all around her sang.

“Heh, I know right?” Fluttershy answered, continuing to pace down the drive way. “I was going to make you breakfast this morning. But I figure- with as sunny as it was outside, that a little morning drive might be in order.” She said, walking the child up to the backdoor of her car.

Scootaloo smiled, watching as her aunt opened up the car door, revealing that there was infact a car seat ready for her; a stylish black one at that.

Gesturing with hand, Fluttershy smiled. “Go on sweetie, climb in. I’ve got you covered, if you fall.”

Doing as she was told, Scootaloo smiled setting her hand on the car’s build in seat and used it to pull herself up onto the floor mat. Turning herself forward in the car, she rested her hands on the car seat itself and hopped backwards, into the seat.

“Good girl!” Fluttershy exclaimed, clapping her hands proudly. “Now, we just got you strapped it right.” She said, reaching underneath her niece’s bottom. Pulling up the main-safety apparatus, she pulled each other strap over her niece’s chest, forming a nice snug ‘Y’ shape over her body.

Scootaloo sat contently in her seat, curiously glancing as her aunt pulled down a safety-tray over her lap.

A test, Fluttershy experimentally tugged Scootaloo’s seat belt- as well as the safety tray with her hand. “Comfy, love?”

Scootaloo experimental shifted back and forth in her seat a little, then nodded. “Mmmhmm!” She said with a satisfied grin. “Although, where’d that toy you mention go?”

“Ohh, that?” Fluttershy mused, walking to the front end of the car. She set the diaper bag on the driver seat and unzipped the thing, pulling out a still-packaged toy. Grabbing it by the corner, she ripped the coloured paper backing with her hand and dumbed out a decently sized- kind of malleable multi-coloured plastic key ring with rubber keys.

Walking back over to the girl, she held them out. “Tah-dah. Your very first baby toy!”

“Huh?” Scootaloo questioned, puckering her lips a little as she tilted her head to the side.

“Aren’t they great?” Fluttershy asked, with a big excited grin on her face. Balling up her fist, she shook it, “You could rattle them, or bang them against the tray table. And do you feel how the keys are kind of rubbery dear?”

Scootaloo looked down and curiously felt a blue rubber key in between her fingers, then looked back at her aunt with a tiny smile.

“Well you can nom them!” Fluttershy shouted, boasting her arms in the air. Bringing her hands back close to her mouth she pretended to bit them like corn. “Nom nom nom. Just like you would corn- or EVEN big girl food.” She exclaimed.

The child’s grin grew wider as the reality of her present caught up with her. Excitedly, she brought a key up to her mouth and curiously bit it with her mauler.”

“That’s the spirit!” Fluttershy nodded, shutting her niece’s door. Calmly, she strutted up to the front seat and moved the diaper bag over to the passenger side of the car. She shut her own door shut and buckled herself in. Looking at her niece through the rear-view mirror she smiled, “Now, you stay still and enjoy your toy. Your aunty is gonna take you to get some pancakes!”
