//------------------------------// // Space Molly // Story: Equestrian Fanfiction // by Lise //------------------------------// Omg! I mean... who the heck is @Quarters?! I finally started reading Space Molly and was like wtb! I get the whole space travel thing, and the starships are cool (for one I'd like to sail through the stars with a certain somepony :P), but it's so weird! Why didn't anypony tell me this existed?! It's like getting drunk on Pinkie Pie thoughts. The stars are actually "star ponies" (a.k.a. Alicorns) who are constantly singing to talk to each other? The moons are starponies who feel sad?! (Although that would explain so much about Princess Luna). And don't get me started on Starspark—the falling star that went to play near Earth, but then got lost until he was found by Molly and joined as her navigator as they explored the stars. The weirdest (and best) thing so far is that all of the action (so far) takes place on the ship. There's no Earth, no Equestria (both are mentioned), just the ship and an occasional asteroid (or Emissary of the Gods). I honestly can't decide if it's an adventure, a romance or a comedy! When met the star lovers (two alicorns galloping around each other, singing a courtship sound, then entering a supernova so new starfoals could be born) I completely lost it! :D Who are you @Quarters?!? :) RRBB @RRBB: You only found that now? Some curator you are :P Light told me weeks ago. We actually created a small group discussing it. :) You also forgot the thing about radio transmissions tickling starponies, especially Spark :) Not to mention that his star is constantly trailing the ship. TrueSparkle Right! The radio tickles! "Warn me about these things!" Starspark pouted as he glared as the radio transmitter on deck. "I'm ticklish and it's rude to giggle in front of others." Best line ever! And you could have told me about the group! Traitors! @MixaMax: Did you know about this? RRBB @RRBB: Actually, I happen to be a member before True. I'd have thought "Squishy" would have told you. Not that you ever listen. And yes, it's one of the good ones. Almost as good as Jade and Brush, and the worldbuilding is on par with DDD. It's clear that the story had a professional editor. I'm trained to recognized professional standards and this open has them. I don't mean to say that the editors here are lacking or anything, but there's an unmistakable "monotony" of style that only a veteran professional has acquired. If that's true this would make the first time someone has hired a pro for a fanfic on this site. Or the first I know of. MixaMax I loved that one :) And I didn't know about that group either. Not sure I'd want to joking, though. Hubby is already grumpy I'm doing too much geeky stuff to have time for him. (Or was it "I'm doing too much geeky stuff without him"...) What the hay! Send me a link in PM :) InItForTheShipping The writing style seems familiar... 2ndHalf Whoever it is, they have a basic understanding of celestial bodies and flight. I'd almost say it's written by a pegasus if it wasn't for the minor wing inconsistencies here and there. Still, it's refreshing to see something sweet and lighthearted even if it's tagged as an adventure. Keep it up, @Quarters! CEOWitch Okay, this my aunt has finally left. Now I have half a day to clean up the place before my mom arrives (yay me:/), and that includes getting a hungover Simile into shape. I'm so tempted to kick her in the ass, but she did manage to provide me with some sanity while keeping Auntie away from me... Anyway, yes, Space Molly is one of those stories that defies explanation. I was the one who approved it (barely) and I can tell I had no idea where it was going until the third chapter. The first time I rejected it and had a long chat with the author (she's very nice, just so you know, so go ahead and give her hugs in PM). The whole idea of space is so charmingly Equestrian merged with human tech and deities. The only very sad thing is that it's an alternative version of MC. It was written before Loki turned out to be the Everprince, so he's presented as a good guy. Also I like how Gregory (minor background character) was used for the romantic interest. So far I've only seen him in one other story, so that makes it all the more surprising. As for editing, yes, it has gone through a professional edit. I just hope that the author has a family member who's into editing and didn't have to pay it herself. LightSparkle @mods: Can you add group functionality, by the way? I remember there were some discussions about this, do I'm not sure what happened. :/ There's already a group for DDD and Space Molly, so why not make it part of the site? RRBB You got it! Shouldn't be too difficult :) Tech has already done the heavy lifting by creating the general functionality. I'll just make it so that users can create a group as well. :) HopHop Please note that any abuse will be dealt with accordingly. While I can see the merit of members being able to make their own groups, I won't have anyone making groups for the sake of it, or creating improper groups. You have been warned! The TechNightling Somepony is grumpy today :/ RRBB @RRBB: Tech is at work with a fever :( Candle That bites. :/ I'll shut up now. RRBB Yes! Space Molly is so much better that the name gives it credit for. To be honest, I wouldn't have read it if Light and Jade hadn't recommended it to me. Sorry, author, but the name just gives a wrong impression. Once you read a few chapters it makes perfect sense, but before that it's a bit... err...I originally thought it would be a musical drama on earth with changelings. O:) DarkSparkle @DarkSparkle: I won't even ask... no, I will! Why the buck changelings? I get the whole changelings want to be stars, but the title is space, not Star Molly. Have you been sleeping okay? Or is this one if your weird fantasy? Dancing to the stars with changelings, eh? :P MixaMax @MixaMax: for your information stars are the first thing that is associated with space so it isn't even a big leap! And don't get me started about weird fantasies, you winglicker! DarkSparkle I have no patience for these things today! The thread has been locked! I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank @Quarters on her magnificent story and assure her that this has nothing to do with her. Space Molly is a magnificent story and it deserves recognition.
