Night and Day - Chapter 1
by Gabushe Shy

The Elements of Harmony have failed.

The thought still lingered in my mind along with the rest of the memories from that faithful morning. The morning that I lost my ever so present sister, the morning that I nearly lost my beloved daughter and heir to the sun, the morning that I fought for the first time with my favorite niece - the morning that my sister turned into Nightmare Moon.

I still remember the moment that the whole world darkened and my golden sun was knocked out from the sky blue sky. I still remember the moment that Equestria lost its princess of the night to madness. I still remember the moment that Equestria had been plunged into eternal darkness. And I will never forget my sins that got the world to this state.

I gently touched my golden sun. It practically begged to be again released into the heavens, but trust me, I have tried many, many times, but I gave up months ago. Now, I was doing a different thing - I was aging the sun, so when it will rise again, it will not be gold - it will be bloody red.

I thought of where my niece and my daughter could be, but from their departure shortly after the start of The Moon Rebellion I didn't hear from them. I just hope that they were safe.

I heard hoofsteps on the cold, marble floor. I turned around and saw the current captain of the day guard - Shining Armor, Cadences loved one and stallionfriend before her departure with Twilight. I just hoped that he wont get caught in the mess of things that was bound to happen in few days or maybe weeks.

"Princess," he started, it seemed that he brought some news, I just silently hoped that they were good, "The Moon Rebels are only few hours from The Everfree Castle and from the information that I got from spies and infiltrator changelings it seems that they will attack in the following week or so."

No no no, this can't be happening. Just a mere days ago, the rebels were at The Spirit Mountain and between here and there was The Platinum County and Yadgrassil Forest. Even with avoiding the county and burning down the forest would be too slow. There was only one way they could be that quick - count Golden Platinum betrayed me and lied to Yadgrassil Deers.

I heard another hooves banging on the floor these ones much less trained than Shining Armors. I turned around to see a panting snow white unicorn with golden mane - Lord Blueblood, a stallion from Golden Platinums court.

"P... princess," he started, gasping for air "Count... Golden... Platinum" he took in another breath "joined the... rebellion... and burned down... The Yadgrassil Forest." he finished, fainting on the spot. I called for the royal doctor, a fine stallion I must say and ordered a full attention for him - he deserved it.

A cream scroll with a slight tint of green and a seal bearing the image of three leaves appeared with a puff of smoke out of nowhere in front of me. I gently took the letter in my magic, slightly guessing the terror that it contained. I opened it, reading it:

From: The Yadgrassil Deer Court
To: Princess Celestia of Equestria

Dear Celestia

I must inform you, that our home forest was invaded by The Moon Rebels that were most likely in alliance with count Golden Platinum. Due to the fact that you didn't warn us about counts Golden Platinums betrayal our alliance falls and I will not interfere in this civil war.

We do not want any excuses what so ever, why you did not know why Golden Platinum betrayed you of us, the fact is that your ponies betrayed us and both the Yadgrassil Deer kind and the whole Yadgrassil race is on a good way to extinction.

We do not want any reassuring that the Pony Yadgrassil Wars wont repeat again. The Wars started the same - a small conflict and it ended up with near extinction of the proud alicorn race, leaving only you, your sister and your daughters alive and wiping out the whole Yadgrassil Moose kind.

We will not allow this to happen again and that is why we wont interfere in this conflict, civil war or rebellion. No we will stand by the sidelines looking for a new place to live.

Thank you for your understanding.
The Yadgrassil Deer Court

I sighed, it couldn't get any worse, could it? I summoned two scrolls, both were the light cream color that I used for every scroll. I started to write the first letter:

From: Princess Celestia of Equestria
To: The Yadgrassil Deer Court

Dear Yadgrassil Deers

I want to offer my dearest apologies to the lost of your home. I know there isn not anything I could do, but if there is any way that I can help with your current situation - I offer the help of Equestria.

I do not want you to feel forced in any way, but if I may, I would offer the Everfree Castles surroundings. The place in barely habitable for ponies and I know that you Yadgrassil Deers are very capable of making this place something magical.

I do not want any wars with other creatures nor any types of civil wars. That is why I wont to make peace with you. I want to make peace with you - The Yadgrassil Deers - because I am the embodiment of the Element of Harmony known as kindness.

I do not ask you, to engage in the civil war. That is a thing that Equestria must solve by herself.

Thank you, for hearing me out.
Princess Celestia of Equestria.

I rolled up the scroll, tied it with a golden ribbon and places a royal seal on it. The last thing I needed to do was to send the letter. A lingered for a few seconds before I used a teleporting spell to teleport the letter to The Yadgrassil Deer Court. Not it was time to write the other letter.

From: The Powerful Princess Celestia of Equestria
To: The Wise and Powerful Dragon Lord Torch

Your Majesty Dragon Lord Torch

I must inform you of a very unpleasant thing. As you know, Equestria is in the middle of a civil war. Due to this many loyalties has ben divided. And due to many divided loyalties count Golden Platinum betrayed me and betrayed Equestria as a whole.

Due to this, I must inform you - do not trust anypony or anydragon even if he says that he is a delegate of mine. He is most likely trying to get inside dragon lands and cause harm to your fellow dragons.

I am deeply sorry that I must inform you by letter.

With a good day and a big hoard.
Princess Celestia of Equestria

I've rolled and sent the second letter. Ans with a heavy sigh I stood up and walked off the balcony, going for my battle armor that I hoped that I would never use again. What I didn't notice was the faint trail of fire on my mane.

---

In a dimension far, far away from Equestria, two alicorns sat a a pool of water.

"Count Golden Platinum - how could she?"
