My Little Pony: Strange Advice

by Time Agent pony

The Magic begins

Starlight had began her training with Dr. Strange, they started by doing single spells.

Unlike spell casting in Equestria, spell casting with Strange required Starlight to use her hooves instead of horn to perform the spells.

Trixie watched the two, while munching on a bag of cinnamon nuts.

"This is going nowhere," Starlight said, after a few tries, "nothings working."

"I once thought the same," Strange commented, "then I a saw a man perform spell with one hand."

"Then why isn't it working for me?" Starlight asked, "I'm an expert in magic, it should be easy."

"Silence your fear and your power will rise," Strange replied.

"What fear?" Starlight inquired, trying to hide her voice from shaking.

"My teacher, The Ancient One, told me almost the same thing," Strange responded, "At first I didn't care for her advice, but soon I found out she was right."

"Your teacher was really called The Ancient One?" Trixie interrupted, "She never told you her name, not once?"

"No she didn't" Strange answered.

Trixie stopped talking, sensing she'd struck a nerve, continued eating her cinnamon nuts.

Next Strange taught Starlight how to use something called a Sling Ring, a ring that open fiery portals to another location.

Starlight tried as hard as she could, but all she got were a few sparks, "This is useless," Starlight said, after hundred tries, "I'm getting nowhere."

"Come with me," Strange said, using his own Sling Ring, he opened a portal onto a snowy mountain.

Starlight followed him, "It's freezing!" she said, shivering as she joined Strange.

"The Ancient One showed me this once," Strange replied, "I bet you've got just under thirteen minutes before frostbite sets in," he continued, walking back towards the portal.

"Wait, what?!" was all Starlight could shouted, before the portal disappeared.

"Surrender Starlight....." Strange finished as the portal closed, leaving Starlight alone.

Back at the Sanctum

"Why would you do that?!" Trixie cried.

"I have faith in Starlight," Strange replied, calmly.

They waited quietly for a few tense minutes.

Suddenly a portal opened and out fell a very cold Starlight Glimmer.

"Told you," Strange said.

After Starlight had had time to recover, her training resumed.

"How did you know?" Starlight asked.

Strange sighed, "Believe it or not, I went through something similar to you" he replied, "I know what you went through."

"How can you know?" Starlight cried, "You don't know what it was like to be left behind! And then getting so bitter that you steal the cutie marks from an entire village and then get defeated by Twilight and her friends, so you travel through time to get back at them, but they beat you again and teach you about friendship, but you're so terrified ponies will find out what you did that you can't make any friends!" she paused for breath.

"Well, I didn't not do what you did," Strange continued, "but yours and my backgrounds share similarities."

"What happened to you?" Starlight asked.

"Before I become the Sorcerer Supreme," Strange began, "I was a highly respected surgeon but despite my skills I cared only about myself and money."

"That sure sounds like me," Starlight commented.

Strange continued, "Then one night were I was driving home I had an accident and fell off a cliff and even though the doctor saved my life I had irreparable nerve damage in my hands, with that I gave up until I heard of being who might be able to restore my hands, The Ancient One."

"Your teacher," Starlight said.

Starlight nodded, "I Journeyed to Kamar-Taj to find the The Ancient One, but when I found her and asked her for a cure for my hands she turned me away, but her student Mordo...."

"Who's Mordo?" Trixie interrupted.

"Mordo's a good friend of mine," Strange replied, "you'll both meet him soon I'm sure."

"Anyway," he continued, "Mordo saw that their was goodness in my soul, he persuaded The Ancient One to train me in the ways of magic, if it wasn't for Mordo I would have never become the Sorcerer Supreme."

"Mordo sounds like a very powerful wizard," Starlight said.

"Surely he is no match for the Great and Powerful Trixie," Trixie smiled.

Strange shared her smile and carried on, "The Ancient One, Mordo and myself fought against her former student Kaecilius who had turned evil. The Ancient One was terribly wounded, and before she died she revealed that I had found the cure for my hands within myself." he finished.

"Wow," Starlight said, "I never thought that you and I were so similar."

"So if you don't let the fear control you the magic within you will rise," Strange smiled, "so shall we continue?"

While Starlight continued her training Trixie had got bored and wondered off and was now in one the Sanctorum's rooms, it was filled with glass cases each containing various artefacts.

"What is all this stuff?" Trixie asked, looking around, while munching on her bag of cinnamon nuts.

"The most powerful items in this or any world," Wong replied, who had entered the room.

"What does this one do?" Trixie asked, looking at a strange gun-like device

"Don't touch that," Wong said.

"What does this one do?" Trixie asked looking at a black book with strange writing on the cover.

"Don't touch that," Wong said.

"What does this one do?" Trixie asked, looking at a light blue cube.

"You really don't want to touch that," Wong said.

"AHHH!" came a cry from Trixie, who had ignored him and touched it.

"Told you, you didn't want to touch it," Wong smiled, "also thats on loan to us."

"He's right," said a voice, "that belongs to some very powerful people."

Trixie and Wong turned to see Mordo, who had entered unannounced.

"Ah, Mordo good to see you again," Wong greeted.

"And you too Wong," Mordo replied, "and I see we have a new face around here," he continued, noticing Trixie.

"You must be Mordo, the powerful wizard Dr. Strange spoke of," Trixie replied.

"That I am," Mordo smiled, "but who are you?"

"I am the great and powerful Trixie," Trixie replied.

"Well that names a bit of a mouthful," Mordo said.

"You can just call me Trixie," Trixie added, "I'll go and tell Dr. Strange your here."

As Trixie headed back to where Strange and Starlight were, she heard the sound of something moving behind her. She turned around but all she could see was Strange's cloak laying crumpled on the floor.

Trixie continued of her way, Strange's cloak following her silently.

Meanwhile, back with Strange and Starlight.

"I'm impressed, Starlight" Strange said, "your learning quiet fast."

"I don't know if Princess Celestia or Princess Twilight told you," Starlight replied, "I'm already pretty good at magic."

"Noted," Strange smiled, "by the way how is the new Princess Furry Heart?"

"How do you know...." Starlight began, before Strange could answer Trixie came tumbling into the room, with Strange's cloak of levitation wrapped around her head.

"I wondered where my cloak had got to," Strange remarked.

Trixie was squirming on the floor, wrapped from head to tail in the cloak.

Leh meh go!” she demanded, muffled by the cloak trying to stuff itself into her mouth.

"Sorry about this," Strange said, "my cloak of levitation has a mind of its own."

Cruh kiw dehoy swah,” Trixie cried.

"Let our guest go, please," Strange said.

The cloak obeyed and let Trixie go, "what was that?" Strange asked.

“Just get this off, stat!” Trixie repeated.

"Now what was it you wanted, Miss Trixie?" Strange continued.

"Your friend Mordo is here," Trixie replied.

"What brings you here, Mordo?" Wong asked.

"I was coming to....." was all Mordo could say, before he noticed something wrong, "The Evil Eye of Avalon is gone!" he cried, rushing over to a display case that had been broken.

"Impossible" Wong said, "No one enter the Sanctorum without permission."

"Then it must have been someone on the inside," suggested Mordo.

"Then we have a thief in the Sanctorum," Wong said, "I'll warn Dr. Strange at once."

Wong turned to leave, suddenly he felt a sharp blow to the back of his head.

"Doctor Stran......." was all Wong could shout, before he fell unconscious to the floor.
