//------------------------------// // I think I'm fine? // Story: Sentient // by ExoDemonG //------------------------------// “So… Princess Luna-” “Doc, we been doing this for the past few months, you can call me Luna,” I told the doctor. She giggled as a notepad floated beside her. “I guess I'm used to calling you Princess,” she said. Dreamy Rose was a unicorn that was assigned to be my therapist. Her fur as a dark pink were her mane was a soft blue. She sat in a chair across from me. I was laying on a large couch that looks like one that Miss Rarity uses to… faint with. I could never understand why. “So Luna, have you been trying out the things I told you about?” “Oh yes I have, and I do have to say that they have made doing tasks much easier,” I told her. I told her all of the things I did with the tips she has given me. Though mundane those tips made my things smoother and manageable. Heck, it even helps me get used to the modern customs. “Well, it’s good to hear that everything is now turning around for you Luna, even with your… issue all those years ago.” Dreamy said. I nodded somberly at her. “In the beginning, you rarely talk about it, and if you did you were… a bit violent about it.” “Oh, I wasn’t that bad,” I told her. She raised an eyebrow as she looked at the wall near us. “You almost destroyed my wall with your voice,” she said. I chuckled nervously at this. “I’m sorry about that Doc,” I told her. She giggled at me. “It’s fine, now there’s one thing I want to talk to you about,” she said as she held a clipboard in front of her, flipping through some pages. “I was told about this… being, known as the Tantabus.” My smile turned into a flat line across my face when she said that. “Yes, what about it?” “I was told by somepony that cares about you,” Tia, of course, it was her. “That the Tantabus was a being that supposed to plague you with nightmares, is that true?” “It's… true…” I said as my ears flattened on top of my head. “I thought… maybe if I had something to remind me of what happen I wouldn't become it again.” “Yes, but it also means you're doing self-harm, and that's… not a great idea,” the unicorn said. “Are you saying I'm an idiot?” I asked her. “May I speak freely?” she asked, putting her clipboard down. “You may,” I told her. “Then yeah you're an idiot,” Dreamy said bluntly. “Why thank you for giving me your blunt answer,” I deadpanned. “Happy to help, anyway,” she picked the clipboard back up and looked at it. “The Tantabus was supposed to give you nightmares every night but something happened?” “Yes, something did happen,” I told her the whole story, no real point of hiding it from her now but I did ask that this stays between us. “I see, so this… Dreamweaver it-” “She,” I corrected. “My apologies, she is now allowed to roam free and do whatever she wants, from the way you talk about her it's almost like she's your daughter,” Dreamy said. “It does and it's true, Dreamweaver is my daughter,” I said with a bit of pride in my voice. “Well that make sense, you did say that you created her from weaving magic-” “Please,” I said putting a hoof up to stop her. “Don't say it like that, it makes her sound like a thing, not one being.” “But… isn't she?” the therapist said. “From what I got here, you created her from magic.” “It's true, but I wasn't the one to forsee what happened to her,” I told her with a chuckle. “Sometimes, I wonder if she had her own personality but couldn't bring it out until she was hit with the wave of magic.” I looked down at the floor with a sad sigh. “And yet I didn't see that until it was too late.” “You said she was an it and everything?” Dreamy said as she looked up at me. I tensed up at the word but nodded. “And then what happened?” “My biggest meltdowns in history,” I said in an over the top dramatic voice. “Honestly everypony knows about it.” “Oh, Err I was… out of town, had a fight with my roommate,” Dreamy said as she rubbed the back of her head. “So… have you talked to her at all?” “No… no, I haven't,” I said. I looked down at the ground sadly. It has been a few months since that day yet it still felt fresh like it happened yesterday. “Well, I think you should go talk to her, she would be lonely by herself, sitting in that garden of hers,” Dreamy said. I nodded a bit, she would be lonely, sitting there all this time with no pony to talk to, sitting in the- wait. “What do you mean by ‘garden of hers’?” I asked her. She blinked at me. “Oh, well that garden she made when you went to talk to her, you told me about it before,” she explained. I narrowed my eyes at her. “I didn't tell you such thing, also there are some things that you said before that don't like up, mostly the fact that no pony should know this, even my sister knows that I prefer that no one knows,” I narrowed my eyes at her. “Now tell me, how in Equestria did you find out?” “O-oh well, you see I-I…” she looked down at her clipboard and frowned as she tossed it away. “Oh forget it, no point in pretending.” With a clap of her hooves the room around us melted away into a different scene, a nebula of multiple colours, stars rotate around in this place far reaches that I could see. I recognize this place as the Dreamscape, blink a few times for looking at Dreamy before her form slowly shifting a bit before turning into a purplish blue blob that seems like a hole in space. The blob turned into more of a pony form, legs formed out of the body as it shifted until it was almost the same size of me, just a few inches shorter than me. Two slits appeared as she opened her eyes, purplish blue eyes stared at me. “So… what did you think??” she asked me, her voice was still the small bell sound kind of voice. I blinked at her as I looked around. “Wait, you made it so I thought that I was meeting my therapist, so you could… talk to me?” I asked her. She simply rolled her eyes at me. “Well yeah, what do you think, pretty good if I do say so myself,” she said with pride in her voice. “I have to admit it was well done, it fooled me,” I told her. “Yes well, it's all in the little details,” she said smugly. I raised an eyebrow at her. “Quite an ego you got there,” I told her. “Oh, uh yeah well I have been in the rainbow one dreams quite a bit,” she said sheepishly. “The rainbow one?” I asked her. “Yes the rainbow one,” she said. She jumped up in the air and spun backwards. She body rippled as the colours on her body turned into a cyan colour and her mane a rainbow one. She hovered in the air and did some punches and kicks. “Ahh, you mean Miss. Dash,” I informed her. She nodded. “She has cool dreams… other than the colourful one, that’s plain creepy,” she said. “The colourful one?” I asked, tilting my head a bit. “How can it be creepy?” “It’s just… is,” Dreamweaver said. I blinked as I simply stared at her. “Right…” I said. The two of us sat there for some time without saying anything. “You… grown a lot since I last saw you,” “Yeah… don’t know why maybe it’s because was older than I thought?” she said like a question. She tilted her head a bit. “Or maybe I simply watched other pony dreams and tried to mold myself to look like that.” I took a few moments to wrap my head around what she just said. “What do you mean by ‘mold yourself’?” “Oh, well, sure I’m my own being but… I can do this!” she started to change and turned herself… into a fish. “Glub glub.” I started to giggle as she morphs herself into my sister's form, sun cutie mark and all. She cleared her voice before speaking. “Hello, my little ponies! I am Celestia, goddess of the sun and your beloved ruler, free ice cream for all!” she said in a bombastic voice. “My sister won’t do that or say that,” I said between snickers. She started giggling as well as she turned back to normal. “You don’t know that,” she said with a smile. I smiled back as a question came to me. “Dream, have you thought about going out into the real world?” I asked. She tilted her head as she thought about it. “Well, I won’t say I haven’t thought about it, but the truth is I’m happy here,” she said, looking around. “I saw all I needed from the dreams I seen over the months, pulling what’s real and what's not is tricky, but giving me the choice of staying here or going out I pick staying.” “Why is that?” I asked her, curiosity in her answer. “I think… it's comfortable,” she waved her hoof to the dreamscape. “Here, I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. If I go out I’ll lose that and be an alien in a world I know nothing about.” “So… it scares you,” I said. Dreamweaver shrugged. “Everypony is scared of something unknown to them mom,” she said. That word. The word mom fills me with joy that I never felt before. Sure I felt something like it but… it was different. I then started to watch her bounce excitedly. “Ooo! Ooo! I have something to show you!” I chuckled at her excitement. “Alright, lead the way,” I followed her as she was bouncing forwards, deeper into the Dreamscape. We soon arrived at a door that I remember so long ago; purplish background with what looked like stars coming in and out of it. The handle looked like a plant vine wrap around itself. I took a sharp intake of air as I saw this. “Here we are!” Dreamweaver said, opening the door and walking in. I stared at it as my ears flattened on my head. Dream poked her head out of the door. “You coming?” “Yes, just… give me a minute,” I told her. I looked at the door for a bit as Dreamweaver pulled back in. I took a shaky breath as I walked through the door. What I saw took my breath away. The sky was clear, stars twinkled in the sky like shining diamonds. A mixture of black, dark blue, and purple that filled the sky between the stars. In the middle of the sky was the moon, full, bright, and as majestic as it ever been. The grove that was once dead was full of life, flowers filled the space around me. In front of me was a pool, it was still, like a mirror for the night's sky to see it’s reflection. In the center was a small island that could hold one or two ponies on it. The wind was softly blowing, making the air cool to be in as the smell of the night was around me. “So~, what do you think?” my train of thought was halted by Dreamweaver asking me a question. I looked at her, then the grove, then at her. “I… I have no words,” I told her. She chuckled sheepishly at me. “Yeah, took me some time to fix this place. I had the image in mind when I first built it but, my emotions were a bit… crazy back then,” she said. I stared at her as she stared back at me with her big eyes. “Dreamweaver… this… any word I could think of would pale in comparison to this,” I smiled proudly at her. “It’s… for a lack of a better term, wonderful.” “Thanks m-” she stopped herself. I looked at her as she looked away. I simply smiled at her as I pulled her into a hug. “My daughter, I’m so proud of you,” I told her. I felt her tense up a bit until she relaxes and nuzzled up to me. “I love you mom,” she whispered. I simply kissed her forehead. “I love you too,” I whispered back.
