//------------------------------// // Prologue // Story: A glimpse into a Solar Flare // by Latso //------------------------------// Two sisters, two sole purposes in life. One for the moon, and it's dazling beauty, the other for the sun, and it's rays of warmth. These two worked in unison in their castle to help rule over the land, helping each other when they needed them most. They were meant for each other, one could not be without the other, or the land of Equestria would be in grave danger. And the sisters knew this very well, but all it takes is one corrupted sister, one corrupted thought or action to bring a downfall to this almost perfect system. One being envious of the other, a sin that has never been introduced the two seemingly pure sisters. Not knowing what to do with these new feelings, she let it consume her. The sister felt envious of the others beauty, the other power, the others place in the world. She wanted it. She wanted all of her power, including the others. And thus, a new princess was born out of evil. Simply speaking her name scares the smallest of fillies. Her name is told in ghost stories, and strikes fear into those who hear it. The only name she goes by now, is Solar Flare. Her mane and tail burned like the sun, her eyes seemed to be glaring into the others simple being. It was nothing of her sister, she knew the old loving and caring sister was now gone. "Sister! You don't have to do this!" shouted Luna, the princess of the night. The now evil sister could care less about her pleas though, she knew she was going to get what she wanted, and she wanted to follow through with her actions. Everything she could ever dream of and more. Greed. Envy. These sins had consumed Luna's dear sister, and she could do nothing about it. "Oh dear Luna, we so very much have to do this. We want to do this." A spout of flame immersed from her horn, engulfing Luna in flames that burned like the sun. She let out a shriek as she fell to her knees, she could do nothing to block her elder sisters attacks. She couldn't find herself to do anything to her. The sister that had raised her from a filly, the one who loved her, how could she have turned into such a thing? The newly shaped princess walked over to her fallen sister, letting out a laugh. "Weak, as always. You can't even stand on your own hooves!" She let out yet another hardy laugh. She then returned her gaze to the fallen princess before her. "Useless." From behind Solar flare floated crystals. They were pink, blue, purple, red, yellow, and the final being green. Luna's eyes widened. The Elements of Harmony. "You know these very well, do you not, sister?" Remarked Solar Flare. "The things that kept balance in our kingdom shall now be used against the one who kept that balance." the Elements spun around each other in a circle, a spark coming from them every so often. "Oh dear sister of mine, don't worry. We shall take over the role while you are away." Away? "Where will you be sending us?" Luna shouted, which only made the sister laugh again. "Why, it's your home. You know it best." She looked up at the roof of their castle, then shot a flare towards the roof, turning it to rubble. Above, the moon was shining ever so beautifully in the sky. The stars danced behind it joyfully, adding to the beauty of the night. Solar flare looked down once again on her fallen sister. She grinned from ear to ear, showing her now sharpened teeth. "The moon, isn't it beautiful tonight, Luna? The only thing you're actually useful for is right above us right now! See?" Solar flare knelt down to Luna eye level. "It will be ours. And you shall watch us from the moon for one thousand winters." She stood back up, stomping her hooves on the ground a few times, let out another fit of laughter. "And you can't do anything about it! We will rule this land! This world! We will rule everything about it!" Luna wasn't sure what to do. She tried to stand, but was only met with a hoof on her head, forcing her back to the ground. She was weak, she was too weak to protect her place in this kingdom. Her sister, no. She is no longer her sister. Her sister would have never done something of this sort. Her sister Celestia cared for everypony in the land, and kept the promise of peace through out the land. How, how could she have turned into such a beast? No, beast is not the right word to describe her at this moment. A demon, a disgrace? No, she found the right word. "Traitor" Murmured Luna through her weak breath. Solar flare stared down at her sister for a moment, then smiled once again. "Oh sister. Oh sweet dear sister of ours. Your words don't effect us in the slightest. No one will be able to hear you, no other pony will know of your uselessness in this land. I will take over the moon, the sun, and ponies everywhere. And how does it feel knowing you can't lift a hoof against us? You feel useless, are we correct?" Luna did not look into her sister's eyes, she felt too ashamed of herself. She had one job in the land, and that was to keep peace in the land with the moon and the sun, yet she failed her only task. She didn't want to reply to her sister, not only because she knew her response would be remarked, but she didn't know how to respond. This brought a smile to Solar Flares face. "Goodbye, sister. I shall see you in one thousand moons, and then you shall see my progress with this land. You will see my power. My rule." And with that, the elements span faster. A beam emerged from the spinning crystals, engulfing the Moon Princess. Luna had shouted, plead, and begged for her to stop, but it soon became silent in the room. The crystals dropped to the ground as the rainbow beam dispersed. Luna was gone. Her existence was gone from Equestria, now only known by a mark on the moon. A dark crest was marked into the moon, and shall stay there for one thousand years. Until the return of the moon princess. Solar flare chuckled softly, then laughed louder, until she was nearly choking with laughter. "We've done it! It's all ours! This world is ours to control! Mwahahaha!"
