Elements of Heroism: Season 2

Episode 7: Downtime

Burst woke up with a yawn as he stretched his arms. "Yup. Just another morning in Ponyville." Burst got out of bed, and headed for his kitchen to make breakfast. And here I thought life would be quiet once I moved here. Shows what I know. Burst made himself some toast and eggs before sitting at his main table with a contemplative gaze as he ate and reflected on the chain of events that had happened since he'd moved in. Meeting the girls. Fighting Nightmare Moon. Meeting the guys and becoming friends all of them. My first kiss with none other than Celestia. Burst smiled fondly at the memory before going further down the list. Then there was our battle with Discord, and now the other Elements of Heroism awakening. Yeah. My life hasn't been all that quiet so far. But I'm glad about that. Burst then remembered how happy Celestia was when he and the guys had crashed the gala and turned it into a real party. I know for sure she's happy. And that means the world to me. Burst let out a content sigh as he polished off the rest of his breakfast and went outside to check his mailbox. There wasn't anything today save for a letter bearing the cutie mark of a certain princess who controlled the sun. Burst smiled. "Looks like I'll get to make good use of this downtime after all." Burst opened the letter and read it to himself. "Hello Burst. I know that a lot has happened during this past year. After all your adventures, I'm sure you've been appreciating this time off. So are you free? P.S. Bravo on punching Discord in the face." Burst immediately walked back inside his house, and changed into his usual outfit. "This day's gonna be better than I thought." Burst said with a smile as he flew off to Canterlot and landed at the castle gates. He displayed the letter, and headed for the throne room. Burst smiled as the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen smiled at him in return. I never get tired of seeing her. She's got the figure and grace of a goddess. Burst thought to himself. "Hey there gorgeous."

Celestia giggled. "It's lovely to see you again too Burst."

"So where does my little princess want to go today?" Burst asked.

"I was thinking lunch sounded nice." Celestia said with a smile. "You know any good burger places?"

Burst nodded. "You forget. I was born and raised here. I know all the good places to eat that the snobs wouldn't even touch if you gave them a seat in your court!" Burst and Celestia shared a laugh. "So are you ready to go right now?"

"Just let me change into something a little more casual." Celestia said with a giggle. In a flash of golden light, Celestia stood in a new outift as opposed to her usual regal dress and crown. She work purple jeans, white sandals, and a simple yellow top. "What do you think?"

"I like it!" Burst said with a grin as he offered her his hand. "Shall we?" Celestia smiled as she took Burst's hand and the two flew off. Burst soon spotted the place he and Celestia were looking for, and they soon landed. "So. How're things dealing with the overgrown spoiled brats?"

Celestia giggled. "Still resisting the urge to send half of them to the moon and to turn the other half into babies or children due to the childish and often greedy requests they have. I've only seen a few nobles that are actually deserving of the title. But my real mortal enemy is paperwork."

"I can think of the perfect hero to defeat such a foe." Burst said with a smile. "Twilight. That girl could get it done in a day. Maybe less." Burst let out a chuckle before looking Celestia in the eye. "All the same, I bet you enjoy escaping from the castle with me."

Celestia smiled lovingly. "What can I say? I can always count on you to come to my rescue, my sunshine." Burst blushed a little. "You look so cute when you blush! Maybe I can get your parents to show me pictures of your younger days?"

"Be warned. Most of them will be of me in a red ranger costume." Burst cautioned. "And my parents will go on about all the craziness I caused when I was little. But hey. That's family for you, right?" Burst smiled. "Speaking of family, are there any other relatives you have besides Luna and Blueblood?"

"I do have a niece." Celestia answered. "Like me and Luna, she's an avatar." Celestia giggled. "Or, should I say like us? Her name is Cadence. She's become quite the princess now."

"Wow." Burst said in amazement. "So what else can you tell me about her?"

Celestia smiled. "Well, she used to work as a babysitter. She loved children. And her heart was always filled with love, same as her magic. I swear, I could find no limit to the love that lies inside her heart. Last I heard from her, she planned on marrying someone."

"Looks like someone's stolen the Princess of Love's heart!" Burst joked. Celestia giggled as they walked inside the restaurant, and the two soon ordered. Burst grabbed a table, and the two sat down after getting their drinks.

"So how are things in Ponyville?" Celestia asked before taking a sip of her soda.

Burst scratched his head. "Well, I've been making some new friends with some of the newly awakened Elements of Heroism. We've become quite the crew. Me and Inferno are male alicorns who come from the dragon lineage. Steel's the captain of the Elite Guard. Ty's a standard martial artist as far as I can tell. Ace, Ice, and Shadow were selected by legendary dragon guardians to wield their Duelist Arms. Fang's a guy born with a wolf spirit and he's got wolf ears and a tail. Then there's our newest friend Venus. He can control plants and is from the druid lineage. In terms of excitement, there's been nothing of note yet. Currently, we're all just getting to know each other as friends."

Celestia smiled warmly. "I thought you might like to know. I recently introduced Luna to video games. Thankfully, the walls are sound proof. She's gotten to be quite the gamer in just a short time."

"Well, at least she won't be bored at night anymore." Burst said with a small smile. "Me and the guys had a smash bros. tournament a few nights back." Burst then froze as the memory of the frenzied mess of a brawl went down. "I think that much chaos would have released Discord again."

Celestia giggled. "If it did, I could have you just punch him again. It's very effective." Burst smiled at the compliment. "Plus, I'm thinking of having Twilight on speed dial."

"You have a phone?" Burst asked.

Celestia nodded before shooting a flirty smile at Burst. "Would you like my number?"

"Only...if I get to give you mine." Burst said with a blush. Celestia smiled as they eached grabbed a napkin and wrote their numbers down. To have some extra fun, Celestia drew a heart next to her number. Burst nervously smiled as he put Celestia's number in his pocket. "Something tells me this'll be easier than you sending me letters. Plus, I'll get to hear your voice more."

"How sweet of you." Celestia said with a radiant smile. The couple's food soon arrived, and they polished it off in almost no time. "That was simply amazing! I hope this place does take-out. I might have the guards make a lunch run one of these days."

"Just wait until you try their bacon burger." Burst said with a chuckle. "So you wanna walk this off?"

Celestia smiled. "I thought you'd never ask." The two soon left and walked around Canterlot. "You know, there's something I've noticed about you recently Burst."

"What's that?"

"You kind of act like Optimus Prime with your heroic, no-nonsense attitude." Celestia said with a giggle. "I still have that plushie you gave me when you made that fateful promise. In fact, I can't help picture you when I hold it close at night." Celestia let out a fond sigh. "Saying all this makes me cherish our times we have like this. Away from all the stresses of duty and ruling."

"Well even if you don't have your crown...you're still my little princess." Burst said as he put an arm around Celestia. Celesti smiled down at him, and soon wrapped him in a tight hug. "You know? This reminds me of our first dance together."

"I can still hear that song playing when I hold you close..." Celestia said as she and Burst engaged in a passionate kiss. It was only a couple minutes, but it felt so much longer as the two broke it off to breathe. "You've given me so much in so little time."

"And I've got a whole lot more to offer." Burst said with a smile as he and Celestia engaged in another kiss. Soon enough, the two broke off their kiss again. "Until next time Celestia." And with that, Burst flew off back home. Burst's afternoon went by relatively quickly, and night soon began to fall. Then, Burst got a call on his phone. "Hello?" Burst answered.

"Hello Burst." Celestia greeted from the other end. "Just calling you to say good night. Oh! And Luna wishes you sweet dreams."

"Heh. All I gotta do is think of you." Burst said with a smile. "Good night Celestia."

"Sweet dreams Burst." The two soon hung up and Burst headed off to sleep. Dreaming of Celestia as he slumbered.
