//------------------------------// // Chapter 13: A Lack of Control // Story: Yu-Gi-Oh! Friendship is Magic: The Numeric War // by moviemaster8510 //------------------------------// “I sure hope everypony got the message,” said Twilight. “They should have gotten it by now.” “I’m sure they got it without trouble,” responded Zecora. “But it seems that our threats have been doubled.” “Either way, she said that we need to prepare against them if we do come across them. I think that I’m ready. Aren’t you?” “Our Numbers they may try and take, but first they have our spirits to break. As long as we firmly and defiantly stand, we shall no doubt protect this land.” Twilight couldn’t help but smile about Zecora’s undying support. Suddenly, two Pegasi in Wonderbolts uniforms flew up to and landed in front of Twilight and Zecora. Twilight instantly recognized them as Soarin and Spitfire, two of Rainbow Dash’s flying teammates. “Hey you two,” greeted Spitfire. “Hi Spitfire,” answered Twilight. “Have you seen Rainbow Dash and Gilda?” “Actually, I just did,” said Soarin. “She told us about Derpy and Strongheart. I can’t believe that. Me and Derpy were good friends back in flight school.” “Wait, why would Rainbow talk to you about that?” “Because Rainbow Dash and Gilda gave us Numbers too.” “What?” “Listen,” interrupted Spitfire, “we may not have had as much time with the Numbers as you have, but either way, us Wonderbolts need to stick together, and if that means putting our well being on the line to save our land, then we’ll happily do so.” Twilight bowed her head. “Okay, fine,” she relented, “but first you have to prove that you can fight capably with them.” “Are you challenging us to a duel?” asked Soarin playfully. “I am,” said Twilight seriously. “If you hold the keys to Equestria’s safety or destruction in your hooves, we need to be sure you’re using it properly.” “That’s fine by me,” said Spitfire. Twilight and Zecora unsheathed their duel disks as Soarin and Spitfire unsheathed theirs. They each drew five cards from their deck and were ready. “DUEL!” they all yelled. Twilight Sparkle and Zecora vs. Soarin and Spitfire Twilight’s Turn: Twilight activates Graceful Charity, drawing 3 cards and discarding 2. Twilight then addressed her. “Do you really have anything in your hand that can beat this?” Spitfire wanted nothing more than to continue with the duel, but on her hand, she knew that she was dead in the water. “No,” she quietly relented. “Go ahead and keep that Number. We have no use for it,” she said referring to the Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon that rested on Zecora’s monster card zone. “Listen,” said Twilight. “We know that you want to help your friends defeat these people, but we can’t let any of these Numbers fall into the wrong hands. Trust me you two, we’ll take very good of this card. Promise.” “Okay then,” called Soarin, clearly hurt at their inability to hold their own against them. The two flew away, presumably to tell Rainbow Dash and Gilda. “It seems that they couldn’t handle the fight,” said Zecora, “but do you think they’ll be alright?” “Without any Numbers?” asked Twilight. “Positive.”
