Back in the castle of Canterlot, Luna and Celestia entered the throne room looking a little defeated. Celestia went up to her throne and sat down. Luna, trying to cheer her up, started to talk with a comforting smile:
"Sister, I'm sure we'll get notice of this human soon. After all, I don't think it's easy for him to blend with the ponies out there" but it wasn't helping.
"I know Luna, it's just that he outsmarted us, even with our wisdom of thousands of years he got away, and as far as we know, he could be just a few hours old".
"Or he could be even older than us" Luna told her. Just then she thought of something "Celestia, what about your student?" Celestia just looked confused
"Twilight Sparkle? What about her?" Luna was excited with her plan.
"Think sister. She has been all over Equestria and she is as smart as you and me. Surely she won't fall for some lame tricks". The princess of the Sun smiled at her sister's plan and after getting a quill, some ink and a parchment, she wrote a letter to her beloved student.
Meanwhile, the human was suffering from extreme fatigue, after getting half the way up.
"Great, just great. I have been climbing just a little more than fifteen minutes and I'm already tired". The only things that motivated him to keep climbing were that he was just like twenty meters away from his goal (that luckily for him was the less populated side of the city) and five hundred meters fall. The sun wasn't helping either, it appeared to shine even brighter than when he started "You just want me to suffer, right?". After twenty more minutes, he finally got to the city, in what apparently was a 'dead end' alley with the dead part being the fall. Fernando silently approached the exit to the street, that didn't look in a good state. Just before going out, there was a loud growl, and he looked down to his stomach, then to a nearby trash can. He just stood there for some minutes contemplating his possibilities. "Okay, let's see: Option one is going out with an empty stomach and then fainting from hunger. Option two is going out but stealing some food, that could get me caught and I don't want to give more reasons for them to putting me in a cell. And finally option three...". With a twitch in right eye he approached the trash bin and opened it.
In Ponyville, the afternoon was quiet, specially in the ever so quiet tree-house-library, home to a purple unicorn and her number one assistant, a dragon. All this nice peace was broken when said assistant let out a fiery belch and before him materialized a piece of rolled parchment with the royal seal in it. The dragon reached for the parchment and opened it to read it, and his eyes immediately were as big as plates when he read the word 'urgent' capitalized. He went then to the unicorn, that was studying in her room, that was upstairs from the library.
"Twilight! Twilight, you need to read this quick!" the mare known as Twilight tried to calm down the dragon.
"Calm down, Spike. What is so important?" after getting down to a normal volume, he said
"It's a letter from the princess, it says that its urgent!". Now it was Twilight the one panicking
"What happened now? Is Equestria in danger? Discord broke free? The changelings kidnapped Cadence in revenge for throwing them out?" but Spike shrugged
"I don't know, I didn't read it". Spike clawed over the letter to Twilight and she read it.
"It says:
URGENT
Dear Twilight Sparkle:
I need you to come here immediately to talk about a problem. It's of high importance, but I don't have carriages ready at the moment, so I need you to come here by train. Bring along Spike and any other elements that you can find on the way to the train station.
Princess Celestia
Twilight was unnerved for the way the letter was written.
"So? What does it say?" Spike asked with curiosity and Twilight's only response was.
"Spike, we're going to Canterlot" and with no more time for questions, she took Spike with her magic and after closing the library, was running to the train station.
On the way to the station, Twilight only found Rainbow Dash (on her mid afternoon nap) and Fluttershy. It wasn't hard to convince Rainbow to come, only having to say it's urgent, but Fluttershy needed a little persuasion, namely being draged by Rainbow Dash.
"What do you think the problem is this time?" Rainbow Dash asked when they were inside the train to Canterlot.
"I don't know, but the last time Celestia wrote a letter like this was when Discord started to create chaos" answered Twilight
"Well, uhm... what if she just wants a little company, and the urgent part was because she has little time to be with other ponies" said Fluttershy with an innocent smile, hoping that it wasn't anything bad, but Rainbow Dash gave her a stare that said seriously?.
"Well, it can't be dangerous if she asked for me to come too" said Spike.
When the three ponies arrived at Canterlot, they went directly with the princesses. Luna was just lifting the moon when they finally got to talk with Celestia in her throne room.
"Princess Celestia," started to say Twilight "We came as soon as possible. What is that problem you told us about?" Celestia sat up from her throne and went up to her.
"Twilight Sparkle, the issue I needed to discuss is the sudden appearance of a creature known as a 'human'. Let me start from the beginning. This morning, just after I raised the Sun there was a big amount of magic being used. It was as if Luna or I had used almost all of our power, and I decided that it needed a proper investigation. I tracked the source of the magic to deep down, in the Canterlot Crystal Caves (Twilight cringed at the mention of said caves). So Luna, I and the royal guard went down there to investigate. After an hour or so of walking in the cave, we met a creature that stood on its two back legs, his front legs ended in claw-like members, was almost bald, except for a patch of fur on its head that could be an equivalent of a mane and some strange clothing. He also is a thinking being, and could talk. He said his name is Fernando". Celestia stopped there to see if they had any questions.
"Di-did that human look dangerous?" asked Fluttershy, well, shyly.
"No, Fluttershy" answered Celestia "And it didn't attack us or anything, but looks can deceive, and that could have been something just to fool us, who knows what kind of evil things he could be thinking right now!"
In the dark streets of Canterlor, Fernando is sneaking past some ponies that were exiting a restaurant while humming the Mission Impossible theme.
"Anyway, how did this human got away from all of you?" asked Rainbow Dash getting bored. Celestia said, but a little embarrassed.
"He tricked us in looking some were else and then he ran through the tunnel we had just come in".
"But what kind of trick?" Dash continued. Celestia just let out a sigh and explained
"He shouted while pointing 'What is that!" Rainbow Dash fell to the flour laughing while Twilight gave her a stern look. Rainbow just said
"What? It's funny" then returned to laugh.
"It's bad, Rainbow, if he can trick the princess he can trick anypony!"
Meanwhile, in the streets, Fernando trips with a trash can and a random pony shouts
"Who is there?" and not thinking at all he responds
"Not a human being"
"Ah, okay" Then the pony continues his path.
"And that brings me to the main topic, I want you, and if you can get the other elements too, to catch the human, bring him here and I'll see what I can do with him".
"You're not going to hurt him, right?" asked Fluttershy.
"I won't, and seeing as we don't know if he really is evil or not, try to not harm him" answered Celestia trying to put at ease the yellow pegasus.
"But if he is not evil, then why did he run?" inquired Twilight. At this, Celestia just smiled
"Oh, he just misunderstood being taken in custody and getting arrested"
"But, what is the difference in terms of captivity?" asked Twilight.
"If we put him in custody, I would put him in a cage to be studied, and if he was arrested, then he would be put in a cell, but he would be studied too" Celestia responded with a grin. Twilight just stared blankly.
