Night Light and Twilight Velvet were enjoying the day, walking together through the Crystal Empire, and enjoying looking upon the tall crystal houses that lined the streets. Twilight Velvet leaned into her husband and sighed. “It's so beautiful here, it makes me kind of jealous of Shining.”
Night Light nuzzled his wife and whispered. “We could move here if you want. We’ll be right next to Cadence and Shining. And we could babysit Flurry Heart whenever we want.”
Twilight Velvet nodded. “Yeah, that would be nice,” Then she frowned a bit as she started thinking of what leaving Canterlot would involve. “But our current house has so many memories. It’s the house Shining and Twilight grew up in, and the house where we met Cadence and Spike.”
Night Light gave a slight smile as he reflected and mumbled, “It does have a lot of memories. But we can make new ones here caring for our granddaughter, if we decide to move that is.”
Velvet turned to her husband and asked. “But do you really think we can afford to live here? I don't even know if a house is available, or what it goes for.”
Night Light scoffed, “Honey our son and daughter are royalty now. We can move wherever we want. It might even better to be live here, we wouldn’t have to put up with the pesky nobility or ponies trying to conduct interviews with the parents of Equestria’s youngest members of royalty. Heck, if Twilight has foals one day, we could move closer to her too. Let’s not forget that amazing crystal castle she lives in.”
“Honey, it sounds nice. It really does,” Velvet replied. “But we should give it more thought before we make these kinds of decisions. I’ve still got a lot of Twilight and Shining’s old foal stuff, and you know how many memories they bring back.”
Night Light stopped pressing the issue and chuckled. ”Speaking of memories, seeing Shining as a foal brings back fond memories of those days of him crawling around the house. I can remember when we first taught him about the toilet, and he clocked it up by flushing a bunch of stuff down it, including Brutus Force and his diaper.”
Velvet blushed as she whispered. “Yes, I remember that experience quite well. It’s a good thing we learned our lesson with Twilight. And it's so surreal changing Shining’s diapers again, I don’t think I did a day past his fourth birthday. I was even tempted to breastfeed him again.”
Night Light gave a light chuckle as he said to his wife, “I think we embarrassed him enough with the presents and his diaper dance. But that would be cute if you did do it. Perhaps if you did it in private he wouldn’t mind.”
Velvet turned her head away as she whispered, “Oh, I don't know. Maybe if he wants to, and if Cadence will let me. Besides, I’d have to get some of those special pills, because I don’t think I can remember the spell used in place of them.”
Night Light couldn’t help but chuckle as he nuzzled his wife’s mane, it was amazing what seeing your oldest son as a baby again could do for the mind.
The two soon came upon the Crystal Playplace, where they heard. “Oh Shiny, you’re all stinky, huh?”
The two stopped and turned towards the building as Velvet whispered, “Did you hear that? Please tell me you did and I’m not going crazy.”
Night Light slowly nodded his head. The two entered the daycare and looked around, what they saw made their eyes grow wide. Shining Armor was on a changing table as his diaper was being changed by the caretaker. She was nuzzling Shining, as he giggled and flailed his tiny limbs. Twilight Velvet and Night Light watched as the diaper was taped up around Shining Armor. The caretaker turned and smiled at the two parents as she asked. “Oh, you two must be Shiny’s parents, huh? I’ve heard about you,” The two nodded as she carried the foal over, “Well, it's such a honor to meet you. I’m Crystal Heart, the main caretaker here at the Crystal Playplace.”
They all shook hooves as Twilight Velvet asked, “Um, Crystal Heart? What is our son doing here? Did Twilight or Cadence drop him off?”
Crystal Heart shook her head, “Oh no, a mare came by with him and her son. He’s been having a wonderful time here. He’s really active with the other foals, though I think that’s partially because they all wanted to see his famous diaper dance. He had only one really soggy diaper though, and he just made a big poopie before you got here. He must have a big appetite if he can make such a huge mess.”
Velvet tried not to sicker, as she recalled in her mind. “This reminds me of all the times I would pick up Twilight or Shining at daycare back in Canterlot. They actually were the inspiration behind one of my novels about baby ponies who go on adventures with their imagination, as they try to make sense of the world around them. It was such a big seller, practically everypony told me it helped them see their foals in a new light.” She then said to Crystal Heart, “Well, he looks so happy to be all nice and clean. Thank you for taking care of my son.” She took her son and nuzzled him, as he babbled and played with her mane.
Velvet chuckled a bit as Night Light sighed and asked, “So, I’m guessing he went on a little escapade, huh?”
Crystal Heart nodded as Velvet turned to her husband and suggested, “Well, we could stay here awhile and wait for Twilight to come. Chances are she’s looking for him.”
Night Light shrugged, “I don’t mind, but um… if you want to do that thing you mentioned earlier. I can go get something, I think I saw a pharmacy nearby.”
Velvet’s face turned to a deep red, “Well, you could pick it up if you want. I’ll just play with little Shiny.”
Night Light laughed as Crystal Heart cooed, “Before you go, do you want to see his little dance? It’s so adorable.”
Velvet and Night Light both laughed out loud as Velvet nodded. “Of course. Come on, Shiny. Show Mommy and Daddy your diaper dance again.” She dropped him off with the rest of the foals.
They all stared at him eager to see his dance. Shining looked up at his mom. who nuzzled him. He blushed as he got up, and gurgled as he began to bounce around, making the foals giggle and his mom smile. “Well as long as it’s only her and dad, I don’t mind doing it again. At least this time I hopefully won’t mess myself.”He thought, relieved that he’d just been changed.
Meanwhile, Sunburst’s parents, Twilight, and Starlight Glimmer, were running down the streets of the Crystal Empire. They were in a frantic state by the time they reached the daycare! Twilight turned to Sunburst’s parents and shouted, “You two stay here!”
They both nodded, and the rest of the group burst through the doors! They gasped upon seeing Shining Armor still doing his adorable diaper dance in front of all the foals. They were all giggling and clapping, as Shining was bouncing around in glee. Crystal Heart came up to Twilight, who blushed and whispered “Is...is that really Shining?”
Crystal Heart giggled and whispered. “Yeah, he's been doing this nonstop for a few minutes now.”
Twilight’s eyes soon fell upon a white coated mare with a white and moderate purple mane, and a cutie mark of three blue stars. Twilight gasped upon recognizing her and shouted, “Mom?!”
Velvet turned to her daughter and laughed. “Oh hey sweetie, it's so nice to see you.”
Twilight came over to her mother and whispered, “Mom..is Shining okay? Is he hurt?”
Velvet shook her head, “Oh no,he’s been taken care of quite well here. I'm really impressed with this daycare, I would even say it's better than the one in Canterlot, and I used to leave you and Shining there a lot when you were very little.”
Twilight sighed in relief and sat with her mom, and watched Shining continue his dance.
Sunburst and Flurry Heart were also watching Shining’s dance, both of them surprised to see him do it so eagerly (when he’d taught them how to do it, he’d been rather reluctant).
Flurry then whispered to Sunburst, “I dun tink he noticed us yet. Da you tink he has?”
Sunburst shook his head. “Nope, I tink that he’s weawwy enjoying himsewf.”
Then Flurry asked Sunburst with a smirk, “Wana go up to him and pway?! I weaway wana pway with Daddy!”
Sunburst giggled and said, “Suwe, I tink it wowd be awot of fun. And I wun have to wowwy about wha he might do to me aftewwads.” The two once again got out of the foal buggy. They waddled over to Shining, who didn’t notice they were there until they pounced on him, making him squeal. He turned to see Sunburst and Flurry Heart both grinning at him. He blushed as he scrunched his diaper. “Wha ya doin hewe?”
Flurry smirked as she commented. “So, ya wike dancin in ya diapees, Daddy?”
Shining blushed even harder. “Na, I was jus showin ta otha foaws how ta do it. Dun you stawt doing it too though!”
Sunburst chuckled. “Weawwy? Ya suwe ya wewn’t havin a witwe bit of fun? Is okay if ya awe.”
Shining shook his head again, before Flurry Heart slowly crawled up to Shining and with a shout she hugged him close while crying. “I sowie, Daddy! I tuwned ya into a foaw!”
Shining blinked a few times before saying. “Weawwy, Fwuwwy?! Ya ta one who tuwned me into a foaw?! Why wouwd ya do tat?!”
Flurry Heart began to bawl. “I was wowwied, when ya got back fwom vacation ya wouwd go back to wowk. So I wanted ta pway with ya, and I tought if ya tunwed into a foaw one day it wouwd be fun. But ten I saw ya do ya diapee dance in fwont of ta gwon ups, and ya was sad. So I twied to tuwn ya back to a nowmaw pony, but ya dissapeawed. I weawwy sowie! I didn’t mean to cause aww of tis! I okay if you gonna teww Mommy on me and give me spankies.”
Shining thought for a second before tears filled his eyes. He then hugged Flurry close as he babbled, “Is oaty, is pawtiawwy my fauwt too. I sowie fow not pwayin with ya mowe. I pwmoice when I becomw a gwown-up, I gonna spend mowe time with ya. And I dun tink ya need to get spankies, just a time out with one of my bubbwe sheilds so ya can’t fwy ow use magic will suffice. As wiww getting wid of whatevevw ya used to tuwn me into a foaw and make me disappeaw! Tat stuff’s dangewous!”
Flurry smiled at her dad, with tears filling her eyes as she hugged him close. The adult ponies watched the adorable scene with motherly smiles.
Then suddenly, Night Light came in and shouted, “I got the special pills-” But the rest of his sentence was cut off, as all the ponies turned towards him. Night Light blushed and asked, “Sorry, did I just ruin the moment?”
Twilight was now pushing the foals back towards the palace, where a whole bunch of ponies were taking photos. Some asked questions like, “How long is Shining going to be a foal?”, “If you can’t find a cure, will he be your son?”, and even, “Are you going to remarry?”
Cadence cleared her throat, making all the ponies quiet down. She then proclaimed loudly for all to hear, “Now, I know all of you have many questions. As I have explained before, Shining Armor was turned into a foal. But we have contacted Princess Celestia, and she is making a cure. He will at most only be a foal for a week. Now I have other business to attend to, so please leave. And under no circumstances are you to repeat any of this to anypony, this stays within the boundries of the empire, no exceptions!”
The press started to ask questions again and taking photos as Twilight and Starlight pushed the foal buggy through the crowd, while Cadence confiscated the cameras and told the ponies “No pictures!”.
Twilight came up to Cadence, sensing her sister in law needed help. The frazzled pink coated alicorn smiled and helped Twilight and Starlight inside, using her wings to protect them from the photographers. As they came into the castle and Cadence slammed the doors with her magic, Twilight looked at the tired and frustrated Cadence and whispered, “I'm so sorry you had to go through all that.”
Cadence smiled at her sister in law and giggled, “It’s fine, Twilight. Now let’s get these cuties back to the nursery for some rest and relaxation.” They pushed the foals straight to Flurry’s room, unstrapped them from the stroller, and placed them on the floor, where they immediately began playing together.
Starlight smirked, ”It’s like they completely forgotten how much trouble they’ve caused.”
Cadence looked at the two mares, “Trouble? What happened?” She inquired.
Twilight sighed and explained, “Shining disappeared, some of the tracking powder I made to find Sunburst must of fallen onto him somehow. Because we found him with Sunburst’s parents, who made the powder. But he ran off on them before we got to them, and he ended up in the Crystal Playpalace.”
Cadence nodded as she realized, “That means the powder is still around here! But who made him disappear?”
The mares shrugged as Straight exclaimed, “Nopony was with us in the room, except Twilight, the foals, and I!”
Twilight turned to Starlight and asked, “You think some of the dust was lying around and it got on him?”
Cadence sighed, “We can’t know for sure, but I suggest we clean up Flurry’s nursery before we let them play. We don't need these cuties disappearing on us,” Then the door to the nursery slowly opened, and everypony turned to see both Twilight Velvet and Sunswirl come into the room, blushing. Cadence turned and smiled, “Oh, hello.”
Velvet immediately asked “Sunswirl and I have been talking. And we thought, since you want to clean up Flurry’s room… why don’t we take the foals and nurse them?”
Cadence, Twilight and Starlight all blinked a few times, as Twilight giggled, “Mom, you really want to nurse Shining?”
Sunswirl sighed and apologized, “Look, this is all my fault, if you think about it. If I hadn’t tried to turn Sunburst into a colt, Shining probably wouldn’t be a foal, and you wouldn't be dealing with all of this stress. So if you say no…”
But Cadence interrupted with a laugh and exclaimed, “Of course you can, you're their moms! I have a better idea, we can all do it together.”
Twilight nodded and commented, “Right, Starlight and I can clean while you three are ...um, yeah.” She and Starlight had queasy smiles, as the moms took the foals in their magic, placed them on their backs, and walked out of the room.
After the feeding, Velvet came back to the nursery and looked upon the room with astonishment on how clean it was. Twilight and Starlight looked up from scrubbing the changing table with smiles as Twilight asked with a blush, “Hey, how was it?”
Velvet giggled and explained with a motherly smile, “Oh, it was just wonderful. But I think these three are quite full.” she then placed the foals back onto the nursery’s floor. They all fell on the ground, all bloated with their mom’s milk.
Flurry belched as she whispered, “I wish Mommy fed me her milikes mowe often, tey taste betta ten ta fowmuwa.”
Shining nodded as he patted his tummy, “Yeah, tat was ta best ting I eva had!”
Then Sunburst spotted the teddy bear with the vials peeking out and gasped, as he turned to Flurry and said to her. “Fwuwwy ya gots to show ya daddy, wha ya showed me!”
Flurry sighed and mumbled, “Wight, wets go, Daddy. I’w show ya ta cuwe and ta wegwession powda,” Flurry lead Shining to the teddy bear where she had stored the potions, she opened the back, revealing two vials, as Shining gasped upon seeing them! Flurry whispered, “So Daddy, ya wana tuwn back to a gwown up?”
Shining looked up at the mares all talking to each other as he said to Flurry. “Yeah, wooks wike I gotta tuwn back to a big pony. Ya mommy can’t do evewythin on hew own.”
Sunburst whimpered. “I sowie fow beain a meanie. I gonna miss ya, Shiny. I gonna stay a foaw fow at west a wittwe whiwe wonger. Pwobawby tiww Twiwight and Starwight weave and my pawents can spend time with me as a foaw. I dun tink I wanna go thwough potty twaining again.”
Shining hugged Sunburst close as he cooed. “I gonna miss ya too, Sunnybuwst. Sowwy fow aww the times I thweatend to fwush ya down the toiwet,” He kissed Sunburst on the head. Then he turned to Flurry Heart and hugged her close, as she hugged him back and kissed him while she whimpered. “I gonna miss ya, Daddy.”
Shining whispered. “Dun ya wowwie, Fwuwwy. When I gwow up, I pwomice I gonna pway with ya mowe. Maybe I’ww even wet ya have Bwutus Fowce if ya pwomice not to pway too wough with him.”
Flurry choked up and hugged Shining one more time. Shining held her close and kissed her, then he took the vials and waddled to Twilight and Starlight Glimmer.
Twilight turned and gasped upon seeing the vials, and shouted, “Shining, where did you find those?!”
Shining started babbling, pointing to the teddy bear, and then started to bounce up and down, making the mares laugh. Twilight sighed, “I better change Shining back now.”
Velvet whispered and asked, “Like right now? I mean…”
Twilight turned and whispered, “Mom, I have to change him back. The Crystal Empire needs its prince, and he certainly can’t be that if nopony can understand a word he’s saying.”
Velvet went up to her son, quickly took him up in her embrace, and smothered him in kisses. “Oh, I’m going to miss you being a foal. But I guess it was nice while it lasted.” Twilight and Starlight just giggled and watched, as Velvet gave Shining’s padded rump a few pats, before placing him on the ground.
Twilight’s then lifted one of the vials and poured the powder onto Shining. He began to glow and he instantly started to grow big! He was now his normal self, standing in Flurry’s nursery. He blushed as he asked, “Twilight? Starlight? Mom?” They all went up to Shining and gave him a hug. He laughed and hugged them back. After they broke off he sighed, “It’s so great to see you all...while not being foal.”
Twilight nodded and whispered, “Yeah, it's great seeing you out of diapers, you big stinker.”
Shining blushed as he turned to Flurry Heart and Sunburst. He smiled, came up to the two and nuzzled them. They hugged his face as he cooed, “Oh, I’m going to miss our little adventures. I forgot how different the world was to foals.”
Then Shining heard, “Shining, is that really you?!” He turned to see his wife at the door. He teared up and ran to her, and gave her a long kiss while he hugged her close. He then apologized. “I’m so sorry for what I put you through! I know you weren’t prepared to have two padded trouble makers to take care of”
Cadence kissed Shining, then cooed, “You were such a naughty foal, but you also were very adorable. But I have to ask, where did you find the vials?”
Shinin turned towards Flurry Heart who hid her face with her hooves as he explained, “I found them underneath a teddy bear. Flurry Heart was the one who turned me into a foal. I got it straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak.”
All the mares gasped as Twilight asked, “Flurry Heart? But why?”
Shining looked at Cadence as he explained. “She said she just wanted to play with me, she thought the powder wouldn’t last that long. I was thinking a time out in one of my no flying and no magic bubbles would suffice, once we’ve disposed of those vials and their contents of course.”
Cadence laughed out loud, “And all this time we thought Chrysalis did it!”
Shining smirked, “Yeah I thought it was the clown, Laughing Rump. Sure am glad he didn’t get upset about being attacked by foals.”
All the mares laughed again. Cadence came up to Flurry who was whimpering. She picked her up and cooed, “Well Flurry, I trust you’ll learn your lesson when Daddy and I put you in time out. You better not turn ponies into foals ever again, that was a very naughty thing to do. Even more than getting chocolate covered hoofprints on the carpet. Do you understand?” Flurry Heart nodded as Cadence snuggled her.
Twilight nodded as she said to all in the room. “I'll dispose of the regression powder, and save the rest of the cure. Sunburst still has about four more days of being a foal. Maybe a few more if his parents want to spend time with him. But he’ll be out of diapers and back to being that big, important wizard by the end of the month,” Sunburst squealed and clapped his hooves. Twilight giggled and left the room as she started shouting. “Spike! I need you to send a letter!”
Cadence then turned to the foals and cooed, “Now Shiny, we can talk about your little adventure later. I need to put these cuties to bed.” She then picked up Sunburst and carried him and Flurry Heart to the crib.
But Velvet asked. “Um, Cadence, would it be alright if Starlight and I finish putting the foals to bed for you? It sounds like you and Shining have something important to discuss.”
Cadence smiled. “Of course. Besides. Shining and I have so much to talk about.” She skipped out of the room, as Shining went up to his mom and kissed her as he whispered. “Thanks for being my mom again for a bit, and thanks for Brutus Force. I never imagined I’d miss him so much.”
Velvet placed the doll onto Shining’s back and cooed at her son. “No problem. Now go on and talk to your wife. I can handle these little troublemakers.”
Shining looked back at his mom one last time, before trotting off towards the master bedroom.
Shining was with Cadence that night in their master bedroom. Shining was sitting on their bed after finishing his entire story of what happened while he was a foal. He could only ponder mentally. “I really hope I didn't put Cadence through too much stress. From what she told me, it seems I caused a lot of problems. Stupid diaper dance, everypony in the Crystal Empire probably knows about it now.”
As Cadence came in from the bathroom, she sat by her husband and hugged him close as she cooed, “So, besides the diaper dance, did you enjoy being a foal?”
Shining smirked as he looked up, “Yeah, I guess I did. It was interesting to really get to know our daughter. She’s so imaginative, smart and creative. All those messes and disasters she creates, it really is just her exploring. Shouldn’t have surprised me though.”
Cadence laughed, “I guess you were the same way, huh? What with you trying to use the toilet and writing those notes.”
Shining looked up and sighed, “Yeah, and I got jealous of Sunburst, and kept threatening to flush him down the toilet. I think I might still be a bit jealous, but I’m glad I turned back to normal when I did. I like not having to make messes in diapers, never thought I’d be so glad to be potty trained.”
Cadence kissed her husband again and whispered. “Well, I’m glad you enjoyed yourself. But I'm more happy that you're back to normal. It’s nice to have an extra pair of hooves to take care of our little rugrat.”
Shining nuzzled Cadence as he whispered, “Me too, but…”
Cadence eyed him, “But what?”
Shining paused for a bit, before he proposed, “I think the two us of should try turning into foals and playing with Flurry once in awhile. Could be a good experience for us as parents, and Flurry Heart. I’m sure we can find a temporary age spell that’ll do the trick.”
Cadence pondered this a bit before she happily replied, ”Sure. Maybe we can set up a few days and have one of us turn into a foal to play with Flurry. But the first time we do it, it’s my turn.”
Shining crossed his hooves, “No fair,” This made Cadence daww, and Shining blushed at what he’d just said, prompting him to give a nervous chuckle. “I mean sure, that’s fine with me. Just give me a few weeks of notice. We should also think about getting a training potty, so we don’t exhaust Flurry Heart’s diaper supply, and so we can start getting her used to the idea of using the potty when she’s old enough for potty training.”
Cadence gave Shining a motherly smile then she kissed him one more time, before they both got into bed and under the sheets.
