Ace had gone over to Twilight's library. "So you wanted to learn about my ice magic?"
Twilight nodded. "Yes. I've been perfecting my own tricks, and to do so I've been reading across the traits each class has. Unicorns like me can use magic, earth ponies like Applejack and Pinkie Pie have access to great physical strength, and pegasi can fly and control the weather. But in your case, it seems like you can do that to a great extent. In specific, you can control ice and snow and you even managed to use your abilities to render Applejack unconscious before her situation got any worse."
"And I'm guessing you want to know how I can do it?", Ace asked.
"You guessed it!", Twilight said with a smile.
Ace smiled. "Well, I guess you could say it was the day I got my cutie mark. My parents told me all the different types of people could use different types of magic. And for pegasi, that was the weather. My little brother Shadow Thunder was really good at using thunder and lightning. My older brother Dark Ice had no strong connection to the weather elements. And me? I was pretty good with ice and snow. Then one day, a fierce storm hit Cloudsdale. My family's house was in the path, and Dark Ice was frantically searching the house for me and Shadow. When he did find us, the storm was almost literally on our doorstep. In desperation, I tried to use every bit of ice I could gather. It was then that I got my cutie mark and my wings turned into ice wings. That was also when I started to learn about my new ice magic powers. But after that day, Ice left my family. I haven't seen him since then. But moving on to something more relevant to your interests, it simply has to do with me tapping into my abilities as a skyborn. If Rainbow Dash tried, she could learn how to shoot lightning bolts!" Ace's eyes then shrunk to pinpricks. "...The horrifying pranks she'd pull...."
Twilight giggled. "Good thing she's a speed demon instead. Thanks for sharing Ace. I think I'd better get back to focusing on the new tricks I'm developing. Want to watch?"
Ace smiled. "Sure!" Ace watched as Twilight practiced her new tricks. She even managed to grow a moustache on Spike! "No wonder you're Princess Celestia's student. You've got a lot of magical talent." Ace, Twilight, and Spike then took a walk around Ponyville.
Twilgiht blushed at the praise. "Well, most magi only have a small amount of magic dedicated to their special talents. But since my special talent IS magic, I've got a larger amount of magic at my fingertips." Twilight then briefly flared the magenta aura of her magic around her hands and horn.
"I'd say you're the most talented magi in Equestria!", Spike said with a smile. The group then noticed that a bunch of people were gathered around what looked like a mobile stage in the town square. "Looks like some sort of performance is going on."
"Well, might as well see what everyone's gathering for.", Ace said with a shrug. "Come on." The trio then noticed the rest of the Mane 6 gathered at the front row. Then, a voice called out from behind the curtains.
"COME ONE, COME ALL! WITNESS THE AMAZING MAGIC OF THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE!", the voice announced! In a puff of smoke, a unicorn woman with light blue skin and white hair in a magician's outfit appeared on the stage.
"Well, that answers any doubts I had before.", Ace muttered under his breath. "It's a magic show." As Trixie began to boast about her magic, Ace noticed the girls getting pretty upset by it. He also noticed that Twilight seemed nervous because of the girls talking about how Trixie's magic was being flaunted. "Girls? I know she's running her mouth, but isn't that part of being a performer? If you don't like it, you can just leave."
Rainbow Dash shook her head. "It's like a collision dude. We just can't break away from her boasting! It's so annoying!" Unfortunately, Trixie had taken notice of Rainbow's comment.
"Well, well, well. It seems like we have some nay-sayers in the audience.", Trixie said with a frown. "Who is so ignorant as to challenge the magical ability of the Great and Powerful Trixie?"
"She is!", Ace said as he raised Twilight's hand up!
"WHAT?! ACE!", Twilight screamed.
"Trust me Twilight. I saw you getting nervous over your friends' words. This is your chance to put those thoughts behind you. Now go and show them what you can do!" Ace nudged Twilight in the direction of the stage and gave her a thumbs-up! "C'mon Twi! Don't be scared to use your magic to the fullest for this!" Twilight gulped. But then, she noticed that all her friends were cheering her on. Twilight took a deep breath and focused.
"You're on Trixie!"
Trixie smirked. "Hah! Time for Trixie to put you in your place!" And from then on, the two unicorns went at it with their tricks! Trixie put up a good fight, but Twilight's magic skill put her humble stage magic to shame! Trixie fell to her knees defeated. Twilight offered her hand, but Trixie refused. "Trixie may have been bested, but she shall return!" And she vansihed with a smoke bomb. Twilgiht got off the stage to meet with her friends.
"Please don't hate me!", Twilight pleaded.
"Hate you?", the rest of the Mane 6 asked.
"Why would we ever do that darling?", Rarity asked.
"Well, you were going on about how Trixie was showing off with her magic and-"
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!", Rainbow Dash interrupted. "Magic's got nothing to do with this! Trixie's just a loudmouth!"
"One you gave the what-for sugarcube.", Applejack said with a wink.
"Your magic's a part of who you are Twilight.", Ace said with a smile. "Never be afraid of it, or be afraid to use it to help those you care about."
Twilight smiled before looking to Ace. "I guess you're the Element of Wisdom for a reason." From behind the curtain, Trixie looked upon the display of friendship and frowned. Twilight and her friends took their leave and went about the rest of their day.
Later that night...
Snips and Snails were exploring the Everfree Forest"So where're we gonna find and Ursa?", Snails asked.
"Easy! We just look for a cave!" The two boys didn't have very far to venture. Snails ignited a small spark of magic to light up the cave. He soon regretted it as he and Snails ran as fast as they could with an Ursa chasing after them! Spike was out for a walk when he noticed the two running and the Ursa roaring in the distance! Spike made a run for the library!
"TWILIGHT!", Spike cried out as he threw open the library door! "We've got a major problem!" Meanwhile, Snips and Snails were banging on Trixie's trailer! When she awoke, she screamed when she saw the Ursa!
"Are you two out of your little minds?! Nobody can vanquish an Ursa Major! That story was just something I made up to make me look better!", Trixie screamed! Fortunately, Twilight had been reading up after hearing Trixie's story. Summoning all her magic, she made a breeze blow through grass to create a melody that caused the Ursa to become drowzy. She then levitated the town's water tank and replaced the water with milk creating a gigantic bottle! Then levitating the Ursa as well, she put the gigantic battle into the bear's claws and levitated it back over to the cave it had departed.
"Whew.", Twilight said in exhaustion. "Good thing Trixie's story prompted me to do some reading."
"So it IS possible to vanquish an Ursa Major?", Spike asked.
Twilight shook her head. "That wasn't an Ursa Major. That was a baby. An Ursa Minor."
"That was just a baby?!", Trixie asked in shock before she narrowed her eyes. "Well you may have vanquished an Ursa Minor, but you will never attain the same level of magic as The Great and Powerful Trixie!" Trixie then threw a smoke bomb and took off with only her bags! Ace and the guys were walking about in their pajamas when they saw the aftermath.
"Well...at least Ponyville's still standing.", Inferno noted.
"And it looks like Snips and Snails just received their 'punishment'.", Ace noted as he pointed to the recent moustaches Snips and Snails had. The guys shared a laugh and headed back to bed. "Here's hoping tomorrow is just as eventful..."
