The day of the W.R.G.P is finally here and the Stadium was filling up fast. The audience was at the edge of their seats as the MC announced the start of the tournament. The jets began to sky-write the name of the tournament and the audience began to cheer. The MC began to announce the rules of the tournament for everyone new to the world of Turbo Duels and then introduced the first matchup of the day.
“THEY MAY BE NEW TO THE SCENE, BUT THEY ARE PLENTY EXPERIENCED! PLEASE WELCOME TEAM SILVER WING!” the MC shouted as Silver and his team entered the Stadium.
Golden Rise and Angel Wings waved their signs in the air showing their support for Team Silver Wing. Both Silver and Lyra’s parents also cheered from their Luxury Box. The Human Seven cheered the hardest considering who their first opponents were.
“AND FROM THE PRODIGIOUS CRYSTAL PREP ACADEMY: THE DIVAS OF VICTORY, THE LADIES OF CLASS -- PLEASE WELCOME TEAM SHADOWBOLT!” the MC shouted as the Shadowbolts entered the Stadium.
Everyone in the stands cheered… except for a cold-hearted woman wearing a blue dress who just scowled, making the Shadowbolts more than a little nervous. This woman was their principal, and a tyrant as well. The Shadowbolts ignored the woman and prepared to begin the match. The first two duelists for the round were Lemon Zest and Lyra. Lemon began searching her playlist while Lyra patiently waited for her to be ready.
“ACTIVATING THE ACTION FIELD: SPEED WORLD V!” the MC shouted as he snapped his fingers.
The track began to change into a course full of half-pipes and ramps and other obstacles. A bubble full of Action Cards floated to the center of the field and then popped and scattered -- spreading the cards across the track.
“DUEL MODE ENGAGED; AUTOPILOT STANDING BY!” A computerized voice said as their Duel Disks turned on and a field display appeared on the screen.
The countdown began and Lemon chose her songs for the Duel. After the countdown reached zero, both Lyra and Lemon took off. Lemon was fast, but Lyra was faster. Lyra activated her nitro and passed Lemon by a nose, but Lemon swiftly countered with her overboost system and rounded the corner first. Lemon remembered Indigo telling her that the overboost system would decrease her speed after two minutes so she needed to time it right. Lemon got the first turn, and with that decided she and Lyra drew their opening hands.

“I’ll start by activating the Field Spell ‘Symph Amplifier’,” Lemon said as a pair of fifty-foot speakers appeared in the middle of the field. Now, whenever I activate the effect of a ‘Symphonic Warrior’ card I gain a ‘Symphonic Counter’! As for what I do with them… you’ll have to wait until later to find out. Next; I set the Pendulum Scale with the Scale One ‘Symphonic Warrior Miccs’ and Scale Seven ‘Symphonic Warrior Guitar’. Two columns of light began to appear with a microphone-like robot above a stylized “1” on the left and an electric guitar-like robot with its own miniature guitar above an equally stylish “7” on the right.

“Now I can Summon monsters between the levels of two and six all at the same time! But before I get to that, I’ll Set a monster and end my turn.”
“My turn; I draw,” Lyra said as she drew her sixth card. As Lyra drew, the bass emanating from Lemon’s runner threw her focus off. Lyra just could not concentrate with “I May Fall” sounding out at full blast, so she missed her first opportunity to grab an Action Card. One good thing about Lemon’s love of music was that, in a Duel, it could throw her opponent off their game. Lyra made her move despite the noise. “First; I activate the Continuous Spell ‘Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen’.” A cloud appeared behind Lyra, trailing behind it a rainbow bridge that connected itself to the ground below.
“This allows me to special summon a Fairy-type monster from my Hand as long as I don't currently control any monsters on my field; so with its effect I Special Summon ‘Aria the Melodious Diva’ in Attack mode!” A purple fairy in a rouge dress with an orange skirt descended from the Bifrost and began to sing a wonderful tune.

“Next; we Battle! Aria, attack Lemon’s Set monster! Aria began singing -- softly at first, before rising into a raging crescendo -- and then fired a concentrated spear of sound at Lemon’s monster which flipped up and revealed a synthesizer-like robot with a keytar, and the new robot strummed up a sonic wave that bounced the spear back at Aria.

“I also gain a Symphonic Counter since I used an effect.” One of the lights on the speakers that arose from Lemon’s Field Spell began to glow.

“I place one card face-down and end my turn,” Lyra said as a face-down card appeared in the Zone directly behind Aria.
“My turn; I draw,” Lemon said as she drew her third card. Lemon decided that it was time to unleash her secret weapon. “First: I activate Guitarr’s Pendulum Effect! By discarding ‘Symphonic Warrior Basses’ from my Hand I can special summon a Symphonic Warrior monster from my Deck, so I’ll Special Summon Symphonic Warrior Drumss.”

“Next: my amp gains yet another counter.” Another light sparked to life upon the amplifier.

“Now I’ll Normal Summon another Symphonic Warrior Drumss -- the one I added to my Hand earlier.” Another drumming robot appeared next to the first and began drumming itself in time with the original monster.

“Let’s time this right! I now tune my level two Drumss with my level four Synthess!” The first Drumss twin began to play a mighty powerful drum solo before suddenly transforming into two stars -- and then again into two bright rings that encircled Synthess.

“Oh, great dragon of ice! Freeze in place those who would dare threaten me and my allies! Synchro Summon! Roar: ‘Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier’!” A fierce-looking dragon with a body made up entirely of ice began to form and rise up next to Lemon.

“I can now tune my other level two Drumss with my level six Brionac!” The second Drumss played the same upbeat solo and burst into two stars, then two rings and encircled the newly Summoned Brionac.

“Again; I will Synchro Summon! Rise up, ‘Crimson Blader’!” A red swordsman with giant twin swords took its position, brandishing its blades at Lyra threateningly.

“Not so fast! I activate my Trap Card ‘Solemn Warning’ by paying 2000 Life Points! Your Synchro Summon is negated and your mighty swordsman falls!” As Lyra paid her points a deity of unknown origin appeared and mercilessly struck down Crimson Blader with lightning and destroyed it completely.

“Bummer... I end my turn,” Lemon said as she spotted an Action Card. She quickly leaned to the side and snatched it up before her opponent could do the same. Lemon looked over the card and decided to hold on to it for later.
“My turn; I draw!” Lyra said as she drew her fourth card. Lyra decided it was high time to charge in since Lemon was now utterly defenseless. “Since I control a face-up ‘Melodious’ monster I can Special Summon ‘Sonata the Melodious Diva’ in Attack mode.” A yellow fairy with green hair and a blue dress decorated with multiple music notes appeared and sung a short harmony together with Aria.

“While Sonata is on the field after being Special Summoned; all Fairy-type monsters that I control gain 500 additional Attack points!” Both Sonata and Aria began singing louder, their powerful voices causing a minor distortion in the air around them.

“Next up; I Normal Summon ‘Adagio, the Melodious Diva’ in Attack mode!” A blue fairy with orange hair and a red dress with a music clef on it appeared and completed the melody Aria and Sonata sang.

“Battle! Aria, you’re up first! Attack Lemon Zest directly!” Aria conjured up another musically-based spear and threw it straight at Lemon’s Runner.
Lemon, however, was prepared. “I activate the Action Spell Card: ‘Evasion’! Now your attack is negated and my Life Points are saved!”
“Oh yeah? Try evading these two attacks! Adagio, Sonata; it’s your turn now to attack Lemon directly!” Adagio and Sonata began to harmonize and both let out spears of sound much like Aria’s that this time managed to nail Lemon Zest right in-between the headphones.

As Lemon shook off and recovered from the attacks, she noticed another Action Card on her left side and leaned down to nab it just as she had the others. “I activate the Action Spell Card ‘Medi-Charge’, which allows me to gain back 800 of my lost Life Points. What’ll you do about that?” she taunted, turning to sneer at Lyra.

“Hm. What will I do about that, I wonder? Oh, I know: I’ll go ahead and tune my level one Adagio with my level four Aria and level three Sonata!” Adagio’s song rang out one final time as she took a prayer stance, the usual tuning transformation sequence turning her into a star and then a ring that expanded in size and enveloped both Aria and Sonata.

"Clustering wishes will become a new shining star! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro Summon! Take flight: Stardust Dragon!" A white dragon with scattered blue scales that sparkled across its powerful form appeared; shining as brightly as the stars in the sky themselves. It took flight as its master commanded and joined in speeding down the track by Lyra’s side.

“I end my turn,” Lyra said as she tried to grab an Action Card.
Lemon reacted more quickly than Lyra had anticipated and managed to snag it instead; cutting her off.
“Before my turn begins, I activate the Action Card ‘Insurance Draw’! This lets me draw one new card for each attack you managed to hit me with this turn -- so I’ll be drawing two cards from my Deck!
“And now that it’s my turn; I draw again,” Lemon said as she drew her fourth card. Lemon Zest decided that now was the time to finally end this. “First things first; the Spell Card ‘Crank Up The Volume’,” Lemon said as a spell manifested on her field -- artwork depicting a speaker being “cranked up” to a much higher volume. “While Symph Amplifier is on the field; this card adds a whopping three more Symphonic Counters to it!” Three more lights lit up on the amp.

“Next; I activate the Spell ‘Symphonic Encore’! This awesome card Special Summons as many Symphonic Warrior monsters as possible to the field from my Graveyard!” All of Lemon’s previously scrapped robots came back for an empowered encore.

Do the math, Lyra -- I have six Symphonic Warrior cards; which means you take 1800 points of damage! I win!” All of Lemon’s monsters began to play the resounding rock ballad of Lyra’s defeat. Lyra sighed as her Duel Runner began to emit smoke and her Life Points dropped to a crushing “0”.

Lyra dejectedly pulled her still-smoking Runner into Silver Wing’s pit and passed the baton and Stardust Dragon to Lightning.
“Sorry that I couldn’t beat her, Lightning. She is… she’s tough,” Lyra said as she gave control of her dragon to her teammate.
“Don’t sweat it, Lyra. You did everything that you could. Now you can relax and leave the rest to me!” Lightning said as she slapped the armband on her arm. Lightning sped off and Lyra sat down, looking a little depressed -- that is until Silver Chance approached and sat
down with her.
“Lyra, don't feel sad. You dueled perfectly!” Silver said with a smile.
“What difference does it make? I lost. And badly,” Lyra replied sadly.
“Lyra, this is a team sport. If one player loses, there are still two more that can keep the fight going,” Silver reasoned, managing to cheer up Lyra -- at least a little bit.
“Now; let's go cheer Lightning on, and see what happens next?” Silver suggested as he and Lyra went back to the pit to monitor the screens set up there.

Meanwhile, inside the local Saloon in rustic Appleloosa, Sky and Vapor were watching the fierce Duel on the plasma screen; along with the townspeople and the buffalo tribe. Barbara decided to use all the gold and gems Lotten had stolen to bring Appleloosa into the more modern age, while still maintaining its western charm and atmosphere.
Sky was a bit ashamed that Team Silver Wing had gone and lost the first duel of the match; but Vapor reminded him that it was far from over -- and Silver Chance had yet to even take the stage, so their team still had a “fighting chance”. Everyone cheered for Lightning as she took over for Lyra as the second leg of the Duel began.
