Spike Pie

B.B.S.F (Best Big Sister Forever)

Spike and Limestone were playing a game of hide and seek. At first, Limestone hadn't wanted to, but she lost her will to refuse when she noticed Spike's general lack of common sense a few weeks ago. She quickly found out after watching Spike and Pinkie for a while that both of them did really stupid and dangerous things. Luckily, Pinkie went to school and was too distracted by homework and party planning to do dangerous things too often. But unfortunately, after an incident involving Spike and a feather, he had been banned from the school. Thankfully Dad knew a unicorn who could fireproof the house, but the school refused to let Spike come back. Since Limestone had already left school to work full-time on the farm, it was up to her to watch over Spike and teach him how to be a strong rock farmer. Surprisingly, she was enjoying her time with her dragon brother.

Limestone was worried their game would end up with Spike doing something dangerous, She did her best to check behind any of the larger rocks within her line of sight before being proven correct in her suspicions when a shadow crossed over her and she looked up, finding the source was in fact her brother drifting in the wind thanks to a lot of balloons. "Not again," she groaned and rubbed the bridge of her nose.

Spike and Pinkie had discovered they had the uncanny ability to alter their own gravity. Spike was using it to fly around hot air balloon style, using his tail as a propeller to steer. It was cool until he did it outside and fell asleep. He had almost drifted away, but thankfully Pinkie woke him up with a water balloon.

They were weird, but they were her family. But this time Pinkie was at school and Spike was floating out of reach. "Spike!"....no response. She frowned and, upon close inspection, found Spike had fallen asleep while floating. Limestone frantically looked around for a small rock and, upon finding a good one, tossed it at Spike who was awakened with a loud clonk.

"Yah!" Spike yelled in shock and dropped a few feet. He lowered himself so he was in front of her with a guilty expression, "Oh, hey sis."

"What have I told you?" Limestone demanded, crossing her front hooves and tapping her lower ones on the ground.

"... Not to fly around without telling somepony first," Spike said with a guilty sigh. Limestone leaned in and glared at him with a serious expression on her face.

"And do you know what that means?" She asked, knowing full well he knew what it meant.

"It means I'm getting the rope," he said with a sigh of defeat.

"Yup," Limestone agreed. After finding out Spike could randomly fly around, she came up with a plan. Spike was allowed to fly around if he told somepony and kept in their sight. If he didn't, then he would be tied to Limestone with a 10-foot rope like some kind of weird balloon. Neither of them liked the rope as it was very itchy, but it worked. So it was a thing she did. After a few seconds, Spike and Limestone were tied together. "When you're older you can fly around like that 'cause you'll be able to find your way home. Right now though, you can't even find your way to town, much less back home if you got lost." They continued to aimlessly walk around. Limestone kept a slow pace so she didn't end up dragging Spike behind her.

As they walked, Spike pondered his many balloon flights and looked to his sister, asking a question he'd been thinking about asking for a while, "Do you think I'll grow wings one day?" Limestone came to a stop and looked at her brother; she didn't know how to answer that, seeing as the only dragon she had ever met was him. Some ponies had told her different stories, most said dragons had wings and could breathe fire, a few said they could have gills and could spit boiling hot water, and others had told her that some could swim through the earth like a shark and could both breathe fire and drink magma. Spike was definitely not the water one, but that still left two more options: a sky dragon or a ground dragon.

As Limestone pondered how to answer, Spike nervously awaited her response before she reached out and pulled him in, a determined shine in her eye. "I don't personally know, so there's only one way to find out!!"

Spike looked at her suspiciously, "How?"

"We figure out ourselves, the possibilities are that you can either fly through the sky or swim through the ground!" Limestone tapped her chin. "Let's see, you can fly, but only if you have some balloons. and both breathe fire. We need a picture to compare you too!" After talking for a while they decided to go to the house and check their collection of books for one on dragons.

"Let's see," Limestone said as she looked through the books, "One about rocks, one about our family history, more on rocks, aha! Here we are. Mom got this as a gag gift from Dad a few years back, The Egg-cyclopedia." She picked it up and scanned through the glossary.

"There," Spike said, "Unusual Creatures!" Limestone flipped through some of the pages and found a picture of three eggs listed as “The Three Species of Dragon.” She looked for Spike's egg.

"You are a.....ground dragon." She looked at Spike sadly, "Sorry, I guess yo-" but stopped when she saw the grin that was on his face.

"AWESOME!" Spike yelled. "Once I get big and strong, I'll be able to help in all sorts of ways!"

Limestone smiled. "I'm happy that I decided to let you stay."

"You're the best big sister ever," Spike said as he hugged her. "No, you're my...Best Big Sister Forever!"

Limestone cracked a smile for once. "I love you, little bro."

"I love you too sis."
