Life of Two Worlds

First Day

Twilight looked at her schedule. On the top of the paper was her locker location and her combination. “Locker 453 in the west wing” Twilight mumbled to herself as she walked across campus. Twilight peered into classrooms as she walked by, she was amazed and fascinated by the fact it was possible to do so much without magic. She sighted happily as she finally reached her locker.

Twilight stared at her combination in confusion. On the paper, it said her code was 3-29-4 but the lock looked something like a clock. How was she supposed to open this thing? At first Twilight tried rotating the lock clockwise and then counter-clockwise, but nothing worked.

Spike poked his head out of Twilight’s backpack for fresh air. After all it was getting cramped inside a stuffy backpack. When he saw Twilight frantically attempting to unlock her locker, he jumped out of the backpack and went up to her.

“Twilight do you need help opening that?” Spike asked with concern as he eyed the mechanism that was keeping Twilight's locker shut.

Twilight froze, looked at him and then nodded slowly. That was all it took for Spike to pounce and bit down as hard as he could on the metal mechanism, and jump back in surprise.

“Ow! That hurt” Spike moaned as he used his paw to run his aching teeth.

Twilight groaned as she again tried to get the lock open. Finally she admitted defeat and slumped down against her locker.

40 minutes later sat a tired Twilight next to her unopened locker. Twilight looked at her schedule dejectedly, “I was supposed to be in history class.”

Just then the bell rang signaling that the first class of the day was over. After the bell, hundreds of students rushed out into the hallway to either go to their lockers or their next class.

Twilight sat and watched until a soft voice asked, “Do you need any help?”

Twilight turned and looked at the source of the voice. She smiled, it was Fluttershy. Twilight nodded and showed Fluttershy her locker combination. Fluttershy looked at it and with a quick twist of the wrist, the locker was open.

Twilight’s jaw dropped, “How did you do that?!”

Fluttershy hid behind her hair, “After being in high school for over two years, I guess you kind of get used to it.”

Twilight nodded and quickly grabbed her heavy textbooks from her locker. Twilight was about to put the books in her backpack when Spike interrupted her.

“Twilight, if you put your books here where am I going to stay?” Twilight pondered over what Spike had said and looked at her bag. It couldn’t possibly fit everything.

Fluttershy spoke up quietly, “If it’s okay with you, Spike could stay at my house while you’re at school.”

Twilight thought about this for a few seconds. After all, this was Fluttershy, in Equestria no other pony was more caring, kind, and gentle. And if this Fluttershy was anything like her pony counterpart Spike would be fine. Right?

Twilight agreed with Fluttershy’s idea and then she realized that since she didn’t really know how to use the lock on her locker, so she would have to carry all her books by hand.

The lavender princess put on her backpack and stacked the books in her hands. Twilight wasn’t exactly to most athletic student, so she staggered from the weight pushing her down. Unfortunately for her, The books were just thick enough so she couldn’t clearly see over her pile.

Twilight quickly devised a plan for her to see where she was going. She asked Spike to tell her where to go. Spike quickly pulled out Twilight’s schedule and began to direct her to her English class. When they arrived in from of the classroom, Spike retreated to the bottom of Twilight’s backpack.

Twilight took a deep breath and entered the room.

“You must be the new girl” Ms. Cheerilee smiled as she motioned for Twilight to take a seat.

Twilight looked around the classroom and saw Rarity in the back of the classroom busy adjusting her hair. Twilight smiled. Typical Rarity.

“Okay class, today we are going to have a pop quiz on the functions of proper grammar in a sentence.” Ms. Cheerilee smiled brightly as the class groaned. Her gaze softened as she looked at Twilight energetic face. “Good luck,” she said as she began to pass out test papers to everyone.

As soon as Twilight looked at her test, she knew she was going to ace it. This world and Equestria used the same language and it was well taught to Twilight from the numerous books she read. Twilight picked up her pen, put it in her mouth, and began writing answers down.

While writing, Twilight tried the ignore the confused glance Ms. Cheerilee and other classmates were giving her …

When lunch finally arrived Twilight grabbed an apple, salad, and a glass of water before taking a seat beside her friends.

Twilight made sure not to make the mistake she made with Fluttershy, and picked up her apple with her hands before biting into it.

Her friends were doing usual chitter-chatter about boys, sports, and etcetera.

Twilight knew she didn’t have much to gossip about, so she decided to finish eating and head over to the library to read and study.

“Twilight, darling, where are you going?” Rarity asked as Twilight got out of her seat.

“I’m heading over to the library. Need to figure out how to write with these” Twilight said as she waved her hands in front of her.

Twilight spent the rest of lunch reading and practicing her writing skills. She had improved from barely legible writing to sloppy, but understandable.

The bell soon rang for Twilight’s next class, and she ran over to her science classroom. Twilight stopped in surprise when she saw who was teaching. It was no one other than Dr. Whooves.

Dr. Whooves was a super-smart teacher who was only 17 years old. He had been able to skip most of his schooling and get into college at just 11 years old.

“Ah, you must be Miss Twilight. Take a seat,” Dr. Whooves said as he glanced at Twilight before turning his attention back to the chalkboard.

Twilight looked around for a place to sit and saw that the only open spot was next to Flash.

Twilight sat down but she couldn’t focus on a thing. She couldn’t stop glancing over at Flash, who was right next to her. Occasionally he would look back at her, and when their eyes met, they would blush from embarrassment and look away.

This cycle kept repeating itself until, Dr. Whooves interrupted them with, “Mr. Sentry, can you please stop starring at the girl next to you.”

At that comment the whole class snickered at the two of them and Twilight hid her face in a book from embarrassment.

This was going to be a long class…
