//------------------------------// // I Hate My Life // Story: Lost in Her Time of Need // by Okami1197 //------------------------------// It has been over a thousand years since Ōkami was turned to stone and Luna sealed in the moon. Celestia did her best to rule the nation alone. Her student Twilight Sparkle has moved to a small town called Ponyville after making five friends and defeating Nightmare Moon returning Luna to Equus. Although she is weak, Luna makes strides in returning to her royal duties. The only thing is that she is more distant than ever. ***** Celestia walks to Luna’s bedroom door. Without knocking she quietly opens the room and slowly walks in. The only thing that could be heard was the crying of a midnight blue alicorn. Luna’s sobs started to quiet as she looked at Celestia, “Why did you have to turn him to stone sister?” she asked. Her eyes were bloodshot and her coat stained with tears, “What did he ever do to you?!” Celestia stepped back. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to do that to Ōkami. He was my friend to. If it helps, he is in the castle gardens. I placed him there when this became the capital.” Celestia left the room as tears started to form. She had buried the regret under all of her work, but that conversation brought it all up to the surface. Luna watched Celestia leave and then she went to her balcony. The view was beautiful but she didn’t care for it. Luna spread her wings and jumped. She glided to the gardens in search of her friend. She didn’t have to look long, Ōkami stood there with his swords in their proper places and a shocked look on his face. Luna grabbed him with her magic and flew back to her tower, “I will bring you back. I need someone other than my sister who knew me back then.” the flight was short, Luna placed the statue on her bed and started searching through her ancient tombs for a spell to reverse petrification. She had almost gave up hope, a few hours had past since she started before she finally found the spell. She quickly read it over and started casting. The effect was almost instantaneous. Pieces of stone fell from his body revealing the clothes he wore all those years ago. Slowly his body began to move as it forced the thousand year old air out his system. He started to violently cough, and Luna used her magic to pull him to her, “Ōkami can you hear me?” ***** Suddenly I could feel again but it was hard to enjoy it when I started coughing uncontrollably, “Ōkami can you hear me?” a calm familiar voice asks. Why does everything hurt?, “Please answer me Ōkami. I need you.” I slowly opened my eyes and see Luna holding me close, “Luna……....Where am I, and why does everything hurt?” I mean it fucking hurts. I feel like a car ran me over as a train hit the car. “Ōkami, you are in Canterlot Castle, and as for why you hurt,” she took a deep breathe, “You have been trapped in stone for the past thousand or so years.” OK I officially hate everything, and how the hell is Luna still alive. “Just a question how are you still alive?” “Oh, Celestia and I are immortal in a way. We can’t die from old age, but disease and other forms of death still affect us.” she explained. “Alright this is all crazy, but I guess it is how it has to be. So do I have my old job back?” “Yes, but I think you looked better with a shield.” her horn lit and she floated a kite shield over to us. The shield had silver tracing the edges while the center was midnight blue, “I was going to give it to you once you had finished your training, but I had started forcing everyone away.” Before she could start mopping I pulled her into a hug, “I love it Luna, but let's get out of your room before your sister shows up. I don’t need to deal with that right after getting woke up.” she nods in agreement and stands. I place my hand on her back to help me get to my feet, “I remember you being bigger than this?” “I was, but at the moment I only hold a fraction of my power. I can only return to my old size nce it has all returned.” “Alright. Lead the way.” Luna started down a small staircase to a pair of double doors. She opened the doors and we walked out into a familiar white hallway. We didn’t talk as we walked through the halls towards wherever she is leading me. I start to smell food and my mouth begins to water, literally, and Luna giggles at me. There is a pair of large doors in front of us. Luna pushes them open and steps in causing all conversation that was happening in the room stop. I hesitantly follow her into the room receiving gasps from just about everyone. I looked at the table before me. The table was covered in dishes of large varieties. The only one I recognized was the large steak that had a few pieces cut off. In the chairs around the table sits majority ponies with three gryphons, I guess, and at the head sits Celestia herself. She has yet to look up and acknowledge me and Luna, almost like she was in autopilot. Suddenly six guards separated me from Luna, “Put your weapons on the ground monster!” one of the guards said as they all pointed spears at me. I looked at Luna and she was furious. The only problem is she doesn't look intimidating, she looks adorable. I look at Celestia to see that she finally looked up and looks horrified. I decided to play a little game, “Ladies and gentleman, it is time for your entertainment.” I pulled my bastard long-sword out its sheath, “But first the guards need to hear the rules. Since it wouldn’t be fair if I actually let loose.” I threw my sword up and it stuck into the roof, “Now all I will be allowed to do is use my shield.” one of the guards looked at me with a cocky grin. “This thing believes he is a match for six of us guards without a weapon. We were trained by our captain to protect Princess Celestia.” I looked at Luna and saw small sparks shooting off her horn, “Plus we have the best enchanted armor around.” he walked up to me and went to jab me in the chest with his hoof. I grabbed his hoof and swung him around hitting the other guards off their feet. “You see. There is one thing you messed up on.” I said holding him close to my face, “You assumed that I had no training other than with my swords, and you thought your training was superior to mine.” I looked at Celestia, “Celestia, was that a new record for my sparring match time?” At this point Luna calmed down and fell over laughing, “Ōkami I believe that it is, but these guards are undertrained compared to what you're used to.” I sighed and tossed the guard to the side, “It is nice to see you again by the way.” Luna was still rolling on the ground, “Should we help her or will she be fine?” I don't know what she thinks is so funny, but I honestly don't care. “she’ll be fine. Why don't you go and sit in the chair next to her chair.” Celestia pointed at a chair next to a large purple chair. “Sounds good.” I strolled over at sat down. All eyes were on me for some reason, “Why is everyone staring at me Celestia? Even the assholes you used to keep as guards didn't stare this much.” this brought forth more laughter from Luna. Every eye in the room shot back to their food except for Celestia’s, “That is much better. So how have things been Celestia?” she eyed me for a bit too long, “What? Did you expect me to do something to you for turning me to stone all those years ago?” she nodded. Well shit, “I'm not alright. I promised Luna that I'd be nice.” Celestia sighed, “That is good to hear Ōkami, and I have been fine. I am glad to see Luna laughing again. It is both a sight and sound that I have missed greatly the past thousand years.” “Glad I could help, but why was she the one who freed me? Why didn't you do it?” and the stares are back. Fuck this shit. I stood up as politely as possible, by practically throwing my chair into the wall causing everyone to jump, “I'm going for a walk. Luna would you like to join me?” she nodded her head to answer me since she was still on the ground laughing. I helped her up, which caused me to receive gasps all around the room. I then stomped on the ground twice and my sword fell. I caught it and put it back in its sheath. Me and Luna left not long after. ***** Luna finally calmed down after we walked for a few minutes, “Sounds was it necessary to be that mean to those guards?” I look at her, “Yeah it was. They were cocky. I don't like cocky people.” “Yes I do remember that. It was one of the reasons why I chose you over one of the more experienced guards. Plus I also remember how much you love to stargaze.” I chuckle, “What's so funny?” “Nothing. I was just remembering that the first normal thing to happen was when you asked if I like to stargaze. After that we were almost inseparable when we were awake.” I feel like I should be remembering something else. Eh I'll figure it out later, “So Luna, how have you been since I was turned to stone?” The face Luna made was one that mixed pain and regret, “Well, you see I have only just returned myself.” “Like a thousand year vacation?” “No. More like a prison. I was locked on the moon.” tears started to form on her face. Shit what the fuck did I just do. “Luna please don’t cry.” I hardly had time to brace for when she buried her face into my chest and started to cry. We stayed like that for what seemed like forever. A few guards passed and paid us little mind seeing as not much has change in which Princess the guards like. I started to get worried when Luna got quiet. I slowly pulled her head off my chest and saw that she was asleep. I picked her up and and started walking in the direction of her room, “I really wish this was the old castle. At least then I would know if I was walking in the correct direction.” “If you want I can lead you to her room.” a female voice said from behind me, causing me to jump. I turn around and see a purple mare with a dark blue mane and tail. Her cutie mark was a full moon with a storm in front of it, “My name is Midnight Storm.” she spread her wings. Her fucking bat wings. Alright since when was there vampire ponies. She must have saw me eyeing her wings, “Before you ask i am not a vampony. I am a thestral. We are the nocturnal cousins of the pegasus. Now let's get Mistress Luna to her bed chambers.” Mistress? Ok I am confused now. I follow Midnight to Luna’s bedroom. When we get there I look at Midnight and waved farewell only she didn’t return the motion, “I’m not leaving. Thestrals are in service to Mistress Luna. She goes nowhere without at least one of us with her. You may leave once you place her in the bed.” “I’m not leaving. It has been my duty to protect Luna since before you were born. Even if most of it was spent in stone.” I am starting to not like her. I place Luna down on her bed and I stand next to the balcony door. I looked outside and saw that the moon was peeking over the horizon as the sun set, “The beauty of the night shines on me once again.” I say not caring if Midnight is still in the room or not. I stood looking over the city under the beautiful expanse that is the night sky. My eyes locked onto some shadowy creature. I wouldn't have paid it much attention other than the fact that is chasing some ponies down the street. I sighed and looked below the balcony and saw the pond in the castle gardens. I smiled as I backed away from the balcony rail. Once far enough back in ran for and vaulted over the rail and dived into the pond. I swore I heard an eagle when I did it but it is not important. I landed in the water and quickly made my way over to the edge. Once out I started running, pushing anyone who was in my way. I think I even pushed Celestia into a cake cart. Ahead of me was the group of guards that I embarrassed earlier. They all lowered spears at me as I ran towards them. I grabbed the front of two of the spears and lifted myself over them, “Sorry but don't have time to deal with wannabe guards at the moment!” I yelled as I kept running. Once I was out the castle grounds it was not hard to find the trail left by the creature. I followed the trail and found it cornering a foal. A fucking foal. Why does everything go after foals. The thing had a large sword and a hole in its chest in the shape of a heart, “Hey, ugly!” I yelled to pull its attention to me so the foal can run, “Come pick on someone your own size!” I drew my bastard long-sword and got into a fighting stance. The creature must have accepted my challenge because it was slowly flying circles around me. It lunged forward and swung it's large sword down. I raised my shield and blocked its attack, but my shield started to break. While it was stunned from hitting my shield I slashed at its side. When my sword made contact with its side it shattered, “Well this is just fucking gre-” the creature hit me with the flat of its sword like a baseball bat. I flew into one of the shops. I slowly stood and dropped my useless shield. I pulled my claymore from my back and prepared for another attack.
