Wolf-Spider may have defeated King Sombra, but he almost killed him at the process. He leaves the castle and went to go find a place to clear his head. When he saw a church, he thought it was the perfect spot. When he made it to the church, he went to the top of it where the bell is.
“Stop, Midnight. Come on. You’re overreacting. The suit, the symbiote, it’s made life better. And there is nothing or nopony else we need. Not Twilight, not Celestia-” the voice in Midnight’s head said before being cut off.
“Not even our promise to my mother?! Those are not my thoughts!” Wolf-Spider replied, as he started trying to pull the suit off.
When he accidentally hit the bell, he goes to his knees and the suit starts freaking out. He finally realizes it. It’s vulnerable to loud noises. When he got closer and was about to hit it again, the suit used all of it’s power to grab the wall, pulling Wolf-Spider away from the bell.
“In anger, you sought to hurt us. Instead, you’ve made us stronger. We shall demonstrate” said the voice in Wolf-Spider’s head as the suit starts wrapping Wolf-Spider up. Covering him up completely like a cocoon.
In Midnight’s mind, he was back in his old bed, looking like his younger self. It was all a flashback of what he’s done when he got his powers. It was all a replay button. When they made it to the scene where Midnight found the murderer who killed his mother and revealed the killer’s face, everything went black.
“We didn’t hurt mother. The world took her away from us. The world takes everything we love. There’s nopony you can trust, Midnight Wolf. Nopony….except us! Join with us. Make our bond permanent. Together, nothing can stop us and everything we ever wanted……...will be ours” said the voice...revealing the symbiotic suit as it reached it’s hoof out in front of Midnight.
Midnight didn’t felt like he had other choice. He started to reach out to the symbiote’s hoof but some pony's hoof grabs Midnight hoof. It was his mother, Flora Wolf! Flora picks up Midnight and the symbiote starts getting furious.
“We don’t need you anymore, “mommy” the symbiote said.
“But he does, come Midnight. I have something to show you” Flora Wolf replied, as Flora and Midnight walked away.
The scene changed where Midnight and Flora were having that conversation where Midnight argued with her and left and that was the last time he saw her alive. Midnight sits on the couch, ready to hear what his mother has to say.
“Look, Midnight. I know that things look pretty bad. But you have to remember, the pony he changes into the pony he’s going to be for the rest of his life. Just be careful who you change into. Remember, “With great power, comes great responsibility” Flora Wolf said to Midnight.
Midnight started to smile but this moment got interrupted when the symbiote came outta nowhere and said “Pretty words. But what good did they do? We still got caught in the explosion. We still let that pony burglar go. He came here and led the Timberwolves here, and took mother away from us-” but gets interrupted by Flora Wolf.
“That’s enough of that. Here. Allow me to prove my point” Flora said as the scene changes.
When the scene changed, it was the scene where Midnight cornered the burglar and was about to finish him off. Midnight puts the burglar into a choke-hold. Midnight drags him over the window. But the symbiote didn’t see what Flora was trying to prove.
“Pfft. THIS proves your point?” the symbiote asked.
“Wait for it” Flora replied.
When Midnight was about to finish the burglar off, he stops and wraps the burglar up and leaves him for the guards. Midnight walks away, not looking back. The scene changes and everything was dark. There was no light to be found. The symbiote walks behind Midnight.
“Nopony is denying the great work we’ve done. But how were we repaid? We have no family, no special somepony, no real friends. Not that can….save us” the symbiote said as it was about to merge with Midnight again but Flora grabbed Midnight away from the symbiote.
“You can’t reject what you already are, Midnight” the symbiote said, disappearing without a trace.
Midnight stands up from the shadows, seeing his mother fading with a smile on her face. He now knows what he must do. He must defeat the darkness. He puts his original yellow mask on and he was in his original green and yellow costume. The symbiote gets furious and starts charging at Wolf-Spider. Wolf-Spider dodges the charge attack and gives the symbiote a falcon kick. The symbiote falls to the ground and disappears without a trace once more. Wolf-Spider starts looking around and when he looked down, he finds out that the symbiote is pulling him in. The ground was like quicksand. He couldn’t escape it.
“We have taken the roots in you, Midnight Wolf. Mind, body, and soul! Why bother struggling? There’s no place you can hide” the symbiote said.
Wolf-Spider was about to meet his demise but Flora Wolf grabs his hoof and starts pulling him up. Wolf-Spider now realizes that he’s not alone. He was never alone. He starts having flashbacks of the times he had with his friends and family and starts fighting again.
Wolf-Spider and the symbiote charge at each other but Wolf-Spider web shoots the symbiote’s face, blinding it for a second and gets a few punches. The symbiote disappears and pops up behind Wolf-Spider but he catches the symbiote and throws it across the scene. The symbiote was getting weak, Wolf-Spider finishes this fight with one big power kick which sends the symbiote flying and hitting an invisible wall. Everything shatters around them, turning white and Wolf-Spider looks at the symbiote screaming in pain as it disappears forever. Wolf-Spider pulls off his mask.
“Thanks, Mom” Midnight said, with a smile on his face.
“Don’t mention it, kid. Remember, I’m always with you” Flora replied as everything starts fading away.
Meanwhile back in the church, the symbiote cocoon shatters and Wolf-Spider falls to the ground. The symbiote gets furious. Meanwhile back at the castle, Wolf-Spider looks at the castle from the church and King Sombra and the black crystals on the castle are being destroyed by the crystal heart being put back into the heart of the Crystal Empire. A huge explosion happens and everypony’s skin turns into crystal. Everything was back to normal. But there was one last thing Wolf-Spider needs to do.
“This isn’t over! You will be ours!” The symbiote said in Wolf-Spider’s head.
“I don’t think so, symbiote. I know what you are now, and what you need” Wolf-Spider replied as he hits the bell and starts ripping the suit off. “You feed off of negative emotions. But right now, I’m starving you out. You may have the power to feed off negative emotions, but I have something that you can never feed off of, the magic of friendship!”.
“STOP! Don’t do this! We only want to help you! Be with you!”.
“Sorry, symbiote. I know this must hurt, but we’re just no good together. Consider yourself dumped!”.
