Chapter Three: Girl Talk
Finally! Rarity is here! Hey, when will I be in the story?
At this rate, never!
Oh don't be so one-sided, Tima!
Okay I should really start writing the actual story now...
Twilight nervously sat on the edge of Rarity's bed as she waited for her friend. She glanced at her new guard outside from the window and quickly looked away. Why does this all have to be so awkward? Twilight began to play with her hooves as she waited for Rarity, more thoughts pilling into her head. Why did Cadance even think I needed a guard? It's obvious I don't. Everypony made valid points earlier, but this all just seems weird! The soft sound of a door closing caught the alicorn's attention. She saw Rarity standing at the door with her measuring tape dangling over her neck with a tussled mane. Her glasses were already on her night table.
Using her magic to levitate her hairbrush and fix her mane, Rarity happily sighed. "Fixing myself up really makes me feel fresh and alive! Now dear, what was it you wanted to talk about? I couldn't really catch what you were saying earlier, too caught up in my work." With a flash of magic, a small tea table with two teacups, a teapot, and a bowl of sugarcubes rested in front of Twilight. "Sorry to keep to waiting."
"No trouble at all, Rarity. I'm sorry for interrupting your work, I just needed some advice, and somepony experienced in this field to talk to." Twilight accepted the cup of tea from Rarity and thanked her.
"One sugar cube or two?"
"Two please."
After putting the sugarcubes in Twilight's tea, Rarity dumped three into her own and took a sip. "Now, what was it you wanted to talk about?"
Twilight blush slightly. "Well, it's actually about a stallion and-"
Suddenly, Rarity spit out her tea in Twilight's face. With stars in her eyes, she stared at her friend. "DETAILS!" She exclaimed, whipping out a notebook and quill.
"I-It's actually the one outside, and-"
"That gorgeous hunk of a stallion is your crush? No wonder! I new you've fancied him since the start!"
"Yes, but I got those feelings from the human counterpart of him. I don't know anything about him! Whenever I look at him, I think of the Flash Sentry in the other dimension!"
"What's got you so worked up about this? It obvious that the human Flash likes you back. Maybe this one will as well? Well, I wouldn't be surprised if you're counterpart was dating the Flash Sentry in her dimension."
"Actually, human Twilight is dating somepony else."
Rarity raised an eyebrow and poured herself more tea. "That doesn't seem right... The two worlds are parallel, are they not? If your dating the Flash here, shouldn't she be dating the Flash there?"
Twilight's cheeks flushed bright pink. "We're not dating." She flatly mumbled. "And Twilight's dating somepony named Timber Spruce!"
"Then maybe you'll end up with Timber Spruce."
"Rarity! Just because two worlds are parallel doesn't mean that the same exact events need to happen, but with just different versions of the same ponies!"
"I know, dear. I was only curious. Shouldn't be like that?"
"Both worlds are their own places, Rarity!"
"Sorry for that thought, dear. I was just so happy for one my friends to fall in love!"
Twilight blushed once again. "It's okay, but I'n not in love!"
"Oooh, really now?" Rarity playfully cooed.
Twilight buried her hooves in her face in embarrassment. "I don't know what's going on, Rarity! This Flash Sentry is a different pony than the one back at CHS. I never really knew the human Flash all to well either! It's all so complicated!"
Rarity sipped her tea and gave Twilight a thoughtful expression. "Darling, I know this hard for you. Conflicted feelings, I know what you're going through. But this is an opportunity to get closer to Flash Sentry! We both know you find him rather cute, find out what's on the inside! From what you've told me before, Flash seems rather nice. He even plays the guitar. Find out if this is what this world's Flash Sentry is like. You yourself said that both of these worlds are their own place. You dating Flash Sentry cannot be more different than Sunset Shimmer dating that world's Flash. Just remember to take your time, dear. All will be fine!"
Twilight sighed and smile and her friend. "Thanks a lot for this, Rarity. I'll try to find out more about him. I only have a week to do so. But like I said, it's all really hard!"
"Don't you worry, Twilight. There is always somepony else for you to love. Forget your fears and just act like you've never met him. You two may become good friends! Isn't that the best you can get with anypony?"
"You're right! Thanks a lot, Rarity!"
"No problem, dear."
"It's already 4. I should be getting back home now."
"Of course, you wouldn't mind coming over tomorrow for your opinion on my new line, would you?"
"Sure!" Twilight said. She headed for the door and paused midway. "Uh oh..."
"Twilight, whatever is the matter?"
"While I was coming over here, I talked with Rainbow Dash. But she's not here. That leaves me to talk with Flash Sentry..."
Rarity smiled and shook her head. "Darling, that leaves him the impression that you and Rainbow Dash are good friends, which you two are! If you talk to him on the way back to the castle, that'll let him know that you're open to new friend opportunities all the time!"
"B-But-"
"No buts!" Rarity stated, cutting Twilight off. "Just be yourself. You feel just fine when you have those small moments with talking with Big Macintosh and Braeburn. Why can't you be at ease while talk to Flash?"
Twilight forced a half confident smile. "You're right. J-Just be myself, nothing more!"
"Exactly, dear."
"Thanks again Rarity! Heh, I'll be over here at 2 tomorrow!"
"I'll be looking forward to it. Goodbye!" Rarity said in a sing-song voice.
"Bye!" Twilight said before scurrying away,planning what she'd say to Flash.
'Planning what she'd say to Flash.' Ha! Classic Twilight!
Can't blame her, Discord. Our little Twilight is in love!
I can't disagree with that! ^^
