Burst headed home and gave Celestia a goodbye kiss before he and Moon left for their house. "Moon?"
"Yeah?"
"Why did it matter so much to you that I was giving up on my dreams?"
"Burst. I'm an alicorn of the night. That means I'm also in charge of dreams. And nothing hurts more than seeing someone give up or throw their dreams away. It's just so sad.", Moon said sadly. "That's why I asked if you thought you were doing the right thing. You were living the dream of being a superhero Burst. And now?" Moon sighed. "Now you've given it up."
Burst's heart sank. "Man. Now I feel like an idiot." As Burst and Moon headed inside, Burst noticed Blitz waiting for them. "Let me guess. Slow day at work?"
"Hello to you too Burst. If you'd hear me out, I've got quite the proposition for you."
"What offer do you have that I'd want?"
"I know you're a ranger. Or at least..you WERE.", Blitz said with a smirk. Burst was shocked. "You didn't think I saw you slip off your morpher when we first met? Regardless, back to my offer. Join my team. I'd be more than happy to secure you a commanding position. With a decent wage of course."
"What makes you think I was a Duelist Ranger for the fame?", Burst asked sternly.
"Come now. Don't you miss it? The cheering kids, the happy citizens?", Blitz asked. "Join the Lancers, and you could get all that back. With added benefits as well."
"Let me think abou-NO.", Burst said sternly.
"Are you really that stupid?", Blitz asked with a frown. "I'm offering you the ideal job and you're turning it down?"
"I became a ranger because I wanted to fight for what was right. Not a paycheck. Besides if people can't pay you and your team, then you'll leave them to fend for themselves. Not to mention you attacked two of my friends not two nights ago. You're a disgrace to that morpher and the armor."
"Please. Those two former villains? They don't have the right to walk among us. They belong with the other monsters we've sent packing."
"And what gives you the right to judge them like that?!", Burst spat!
"Simple. My morpher. As long as I wear it, I've got the right to decide who or who not to save."
"You call yourself a ranger? You make me sick. Now GET. OUT.", Burst growled.
Blitz frowned. "Such a shame you couldn't see things my way. You disappoint me Burst." And with that, Blitz left.
"I can't help but hate that guy the more he speaks."
"You and me both.", Moon said with a frown. "How'd someone like him even GET a morpher?"
"That's what I'd like to know.", Burst said as his mind drifted off in thought.
CHS Soccer Fields...
Rainbow Dash was out practicing her moves with Steel when a new player stole the ball! "HEY!" Rainbow Dash gave chase, and managed to steal the ball back and score a goal! "Alright you Lancer creep! You've got a lot of nerve coming onto my turf and crashing my practice!"
Gilda let out a chuckle. "You've not changed a bit Dash." Gilda removed her sunglasses. "Don't tell me you forgot about me already?"
"G!" Rainbow rushed up to Gilda and gave her a fist-bump. "I didn't know you were a part of the Lancers!"
"Yup. You should've seen me earlier today! Took on a big fire monster! The Rainbow Dragon Duelist Ranger got there first though. Anyway, my boss is interested in you because of your speed and skill and wants you to join up. So you interested Dash? You'd get pretty popular. The whole world would know about you! Heck, we's all get a legion of screaming fans!"
"Sorry G. No deal.", Rainbow said with a shrug. "I've already got a team I'm part of. No way I'm ditching it."
Gilda rolled her eyes. "Still loyal, still stubborn. Never thought I'd ever see you do something so pathetic as go out with a guy."
Rainbow narrowed her eyes. "Keep talkin' Gilda. Just say how pathetic that is ONE. MORE. TIME."
"Sorry Dash. But I'm not as thick-skulled as you. I'm so out." Gilda stormed off.
"Some friend.", Steel said with a frown.
"I don't think that's the right word for her.", Rainbow said with a scowl. "Today's the worst. First Burst and over half the team leave, and now my old friend is my newest enemy." Rainbow sighed. "At least I got you and the others who chose to stay rangers. But I think things are gonna be pretty bumpy from here on in. I hope Burst and the others come back Steel. It feels so lonely without them."
"Yeah." Steel then looked to the sky. "I miss 'em too." 'Why do I have the feeling things are only gonna get worse from here?'
