The next school day went by fairly normally. That is, until the rangers got a massive alert on their morphers. Burst went outside of class, and contacted Pegasus. "Pegasus? What's up?"
"There's attacks going on all over Canterlot!", Pegasus explained. "All of a sudden, a bunch of portals opened up releasing monsters! Maybe that monster yesterday was only a prelude. You and the others better morph!"
"Got. Guys? Did you get any of that?"
"We all did Burst.", Inferno responded. "We'll split up into groups and take care of each monster that's come out of the portals!"
"Good. Let's go!" Burst ran out the entrance, and readied his morpher! "IT'S MORPHIN' TIME! Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" In a flash of light, Burst stood in his ranger armor and flew to the nearest sight of the monster attacks. The one closest to Burst was at Sugarcube Corner. "Looks like I made it." The monster was raiding the display case. "Alright ugly! Put the sweets down, and come quietly!" The monster was a Gilasaurus who roared at Burst before rushing him! Burst managed to tackle Gilasaurus and take the fight outside! "Just you and me you walking fossil!" Burst was about to engage when a car pulled up! "Huh?!" Blitz stepped out of the car and removed his sunglasses.
"Not a bad first day of work.", Blitz said with a smirk as he unholstered his blaster and fired at Gilasaurus. "This is your first and only warning monster. Stand down, or I'll have to make you leave by force." Gilasauras just snarled. "Force it is then." Blitz fired more shots at Gilasaurus! Wounding and enraging the beast! Gilasaurus jumped at Blitz, but Blitz kicked the dinosaur to the side! "Now to dispose of you." Blitz tossed a device over to where Gilasaurus had fallen, and a portal to the monster world appeared! Returning the monster to its own world. Blitz then used his earpiece. "All Lancer teams. Report in."
"We've been able to wipe-up most of the creatures. But Gilda's still having some trouble with one of the bigger ones. Also, we've made contact with Duelist Rangers.", a Lancer reported.
"Good work." Blitz hung up his earpiece before turning to Burst. "Well? Interested in tagging along?"
"Why's that matter to you?"
"Come on. We're doing the same job. Protecting this city. No reason why we can't work together for a bit?"
"Just try to keep up." Burst once again took to the air and soon arrived at the site of the major monster attack. The monster attacking was Koa'ki Meiru Valafar. "No wonder they're having trouble." Burst noticed Rainbow Dash and a Lancer engaging the monster. "Might as well make myself known." Burst summoned his blaster and fired at Valafar! "Yo hot-head! Heads up!" Valafar growled and fired more flames at Burst in an effort to shoot him down! Blitz soon arrived on the scene and stepped out of his car.
"Well, well. Looks like I've got a challenge.", Blitz said with a smirk. Blitz then strapped on a device to his wrist. "It's morphin' time." Burst was shocked when Blitz transformed into a ranger! But what was more surprising was that his ranger armor looked EXACTLY like his save for the darker color. The same one that Sombra and Chrysalis saw when they were attacked by that false ranger. "Time to show them how a real ranger fights!" Blitz charged at Valafar, and executed a devastating punch making the monster reel in pain! "Now to finish it." Blitz summoned his blaster and charged it up! Unleashing a powerful charged shot that obliterated Valafar. "That should take care of the problem." Blitz then powered down and pulled out his phone. "Looks like the mayor's deemed us worth every penny."
"You guys charge to protect the city?", Burst asked.
"It's the price of security.", Blitz said with a smile. "Everyone can have it so long as they're willing to pay."
'I've got a bad feeling about this guy.', Burst thought. "So what do you call yourselves anyway?"
"We're the Lancers. We strike at any threats full force.", Blitz said proudly. "You rangers can't be everywhere at once now can you?" Blitz then turned his attention to the arriving news crews. "If you'll excuse me. I have a public to address." The reporters nearly swarmed him, but he handled it no problem. "Today, Canterlot has seen me and the other Lancers in action. As you've seen, we are clearly capable of handling threats with minimum damage and great efficiency. One could say we're on the level of the Duelist Rangers."
At that remark, one of the reporters approached Burst. "Blue-Eyes Ranger? What do you have to say about that?"
"They're pretty good.", Burst answered.
"Are you afraid that they're better than you?"
"Look. We just protect the city. If they're doing the same, I've got no reason to complain.", Burst replied.
"And we don't need a giant robot to do it.", Blitz said smugly.
"HEY! The Megazord's awesome!", Rainbow Dash protested! But Burst stopped her.
"Come on Rainbow. Let's just go before things escalate." Burst and Rainbow teleported back to the command center and powered down. They also noticed the others staring at the monitor with frowns. "I take it you all had a run-in with the Lancers too?"
"Yeah. They just crashed our fights!", Inferno complained. "But I'll admit. They took care of the monsters way faster than we did."
"Plus for them, it's a REAL job.", Ice noted. "They handed bills to the owners of the establishments that were attacked."
"And apparently the mayor thinks they're worth every cent.", Burst added. "Guys? That brings me to another important matter."
"What is it darling?", Rarity asked.
Burst sighed. "If they've really got this handled....maybe we should call it quits."
"Burst...what're you saying?!", Rainbow Dash demanded.
"I'm saying...maybe this is the end for the Duelist Rangers."
