II – Please Don't Paint the Isles Pink

The shot was taken, causing the taker to whince. “And that’s about the gist of it. Falling out of the airplane, cleaning up a bit, then coming to find you, to wounding up in this bar.”

Her cup slammed against the counter. “Right. Just don’t tell Twilight I let you drink.”

“That’s if we see her again.”

Hey. I want none of that from you.”

Dash went back to hovering above her cup, contemplating the reflection of the brown liquid. “Just can’t believe this is happening; this was supposed to be a vacation, y’know.”

“Trust me–” Spike’s wings sprouted out, displaying to all its many defects –“I know.”

“Geeze, Spike. I didn’t know it was that bad… maybe we’ll find a way to get it patched up back home?”

The wings rested in their place behind the dragon’s back as he kept silent with another drink. Sitting in the seat next to him was Fludd, nozzle in a cup of water.

“Now that I’ve told my side of things, care to share yours, Dash?”

“Heh. Where do I even begin?”

“Not one to re-hear your life story. How about what happened after my wings got diced on the plane?”

“Dick.” She hissed over her cup. “Alright, so it all happened after I woke up on the plane, after you had Fluttershy strap me in…”
-----

“Spike!” Fluttershy screamed as she pounded her hooves on the plane’s window. Blood splattered onto the glass and the descent of the dragon could not be see through the red liquid.

“Wha… what about that jerk.” Rainbow’s head bobbed up before sinking back down. A shake on the shoulders brought her eyes to wide awake mode, taking in the sight of the glass that could not be seen through.

“Spike…” Tears dropped onto the furry blue lap, the owner of it looking to the water-welling eyes. “Gone… Spike… he’s…”

A mouth that was prone to brags and playful insults hung open an just an inch, words unable to untangle themselves from veins of developing regert. The mouth shut on its own, but the unfastening of the belt came from a will of redemption.

“...Dash?”

Gravity sucked Dash to the front of the plane: gushing winds closing the door after Spike had left. The very same door opened and Dash didn’t hesitate to let the wind rush across her face.
