//------------------------------// // Return to Insanity // Story: Equestrian Fanfiction // by Lise //------------------------------// Err, I'm conflicted. Whoever wrote this chapter is a genius or really messed up! I've never even heard of horror mixing with comedy. (Who does that?!) Now the review :) We start with best humie doing a contraption for Caprice. (From what I could tell it's a sort of levitation set of saddlebags that hover behind her?) Of course he messes up, and causes it to fly all over the house (Caprice is so cute when she chuckles, by the way. And her humor is the best so far :)) so we have destruction, broken mirrors (this is important!) and lots of yelling from Eric's sister and parents. (Fun fact, his mother knows about the portals and such, since she said "your friends better come up with the money for this!" Typical lawyer.) Caprice goes to Canterlot to give him some gems, everyone leaves Eric to clean up. And now the interesting part begins. While cleaning, Eric picks up a mirror piece and his reflection asks him how he's been. Eric goes into a "No!" cycle and then we have a flashback. We see young Eric (yay! Young Eric is so serious) presenting his science project and messing it up (and still getting third place). Devastated, he takes the long route to home, where he stumbles upon a world portal near the lake. The mirror entity appears and offers him the means to win first place always. Eric refuses, but the entity tells him it will be waiting for (this is also important) when he changes his mind. Eric hesitates for a while (lots of scenes I'll skip), but in the end agrees and is told of the portals. Back in his room, the entity has a chat with him. We learn that the reason he's constantly carrying water bottles is to keep in touch (although it says mirrors would have been more efficient). They get into an argument until the mirror thing says it knows about the Everprince. (First bombshell: "we used to date once". Seems the mirror entity was/is female.) Then we have our second flashback. Eric summons a portal and enters. (And all this time I though he didn't use them!) we have him walking around Canterlot as a pony (yikes! Here come the "Humans in Disguise fics) with only his reflection showing his true nature. A bit of comedy, though at the end he reaches the mirror pool and is attacked by versions of his human self, each having an aspect of him: hate, envy, fear, etc. Flashback to the house. Where he says he'll never go back to Equestria. The mirror laughs asking what if his friends are in danger. (She's sort of a bitch.) And then she asks god the favor he owes her. They go into an argument, but at the end he agrees to do as she asks. The mirror only says "later" and disappears. A few comedy scenes with Caprice returning and some of Eric's friends passing by... And then the most chilling event of all: the mirror spirit takes form in the lake (and yes, she's a girl) where Icelos is sitting on a bench. "Nice to see you, Echo." Icelos looked up from his book. "Pity you're not fully yourself yet." "Don't meddle with him!" the watery form hissed. "I've claimed him! He's mine!" "I doubt it. He belongs to Hades. Always has, always will." Icelos stood up, then with no effort tore the book he held in half. "Unless the script is rewritten. Don't interfere in my dealings with the Everprince and I'll give Eric to you." "You wish!" The more I'm starting to figure things out, the more confused I am. Eric is controlled by both Echo and Hades? Icelos and Echo are on opposite sides? Aaaargh! The confusion! :) PrinceEric Well, it's pretty clear to me. I think S.Child is playing with several oppositions and mixing them up. That's why we're so confused. We have the corporations battle for control of Mistmount and Gumania (which has been been the focus of Mistmount Chronicles). So far only Felina and Skyla are described in detail, but it's said there are 8 in total. There's also the Wonderbolts-human-clones who are part of an overseeing body that tries to keep them in check. We also have the Deities vs Titans vs taint (I think is the Everprince). Things are a bit messy here.i, still not sure if the taint is the Everprince or if the Everprince is a Titan or anything. Finally, as we see in the shattered realities, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon are fighting amongst themselves as well. (That might give new meaning to the Poseidon is lost theory.) All in all an okay chapter. Definitely not what I feared it might be (thank the stars!) MixaMax Wow, Max. That was almost... nice? You liking MCE? Damn, those Jade snuggles must be game good to get you to mellow out. :P Chapter was fine, though, just not sure what the horror element was. PrinceEric, were you scared of the mirror images thing? That was pretty weak in terms of horror, if you ask me. I still understand it might creep some ponies out. On another note... @all: Pones! Seriously! Tag your taur stories appropriately! Not everyone is into centaurs and minotaurs! This is basic practices, ponies! I'm not talking about my personal thoughts that ponified humans are the worst of the worst here! The mods have spent a lot of time to add flag functionality, so snorting use it! RRBB @RRBB: Not that I'm disagree with you, but the original novel *did* have a centaur. That means it's canon, like it or not. DarkSparkle Girls, don't fight! You need to get a camera for that. Just imagine the amount of views you'd get! ;) LightSparkle @RRBB: a few words 1) None of your damn business 2) They are pretty good 3) Buck that! They're outright amazing! (U jelly, mare?) 4) Mistmount is still better than Everhere! @LightSparkle: Oooh! I like you :) MixaMax I like the idea of humans in disguise. Makes so much sense. I just don't think I can write them well enough yet :( Candle @LightSparkle, @DarkSparkle: ... I'm not against that, actually. O:) RRBB @RRBB: Right now Dark has either fainted or is panting heavily. :P @MixaMax: You used to say the opposite in school! :P (No worries, all is fine. You're fun as well.) LightSparkle @LightSparkle: Huh?!? MixaMax DarkSparkle's breath hastened as she reread the message for the fifth time. Her heart was pacing with the speed of a hummingbird making her wings tingly. She could picture the scene so clearly in her mind: the sweet smell of sweaty fur, the gentle sensation of muzzles brushing against another as they kissed, maybe even nibbling an ear. A sigh, escaped her mouth transforming into a stifled squeal as Dark... Oops, must run for class. :P RRBB *giggle* I bet WaterBottle will still be blushing when you get here. SweetStuff @RRBB: Way to go, kiddo. You had an A in my book. Take it easy :) LightSparkle !!! DarkSparkle
