//------------------------------// // Chapter 12: Family // Story: Breeze of Love // by HeartBeat //------------------------------// Chapter 12: Family I stood at the doorway to Silvers room and looked at her. The storm surrounded all of Ponyville and was supposed to last all day. Lightning struck and Silver shot up in her bed. I moved over to her and picked her up out of her bed. I carried her out to Dash, who was eating lunch. I sat at the table and held Silver in my lap. She looked up at me and let out small wimpers. I held her close to my chest. I wanted to protect her from anything. But weather was just something we had to deal with. Rainbow and I would have cleared the skies ourself. But it was a scheduled storm, and nopony was allowed to clear it. I looked outside and saw the rain beating against the window. I closed the shutters and moved to the couch. Rainbow came and sat next to me. For hours Rainbow and I talked about Silver's birthday. It would be her first and it was only a few months away. I couldn't believe how fast time could pass. Rainbow fed Silver and took her to bed. Silver never liked the rain and would want to be with us the whole time. But a baby needs it's sleep and we tried to get her to fall asleep on her own. When Dash sat down, a few hours passed and we began to hear whimpers again. "I'll get her." I said getting off the couch. I trotted up the stairs to our room. I slowly opened our door and saw Silver lying in her crib sobbing. I picked up Silver and brought her downstairs. I sat with Rainbow on the couch and watched the rain fall outside. A white flash filled the dark room and vanished as fast as it came. Silver tensed her muscles and held onto my chest. I rubbed her back. "The storm is keeping her awake." I said to Rainbow. "Yeah, I'm surprised she isn't crying her eyes out." She said laying her head on my shoulder. "She got your bravery, Dash." I said giving her a small kiss. I held Silver in my arms and stayed up late with her. The storm was relentless. Strike after strike, lightning brightened the room and scared Silver. The thunder would roar through Ponyville and Silver would hold her ears down. I closed my eyes and i felt pushing against my chest. I looked down to see the terror in Silver's eyes. "All right. I'll stay up." I whispered. I looked over to see Dash was fast asleep on the couch next to me. I sat with Silver and held her close to me. I felt her shiver in my hooves. I pulled some blankets out of the closet and threw one over Dashie. I sat on the couch and threw the blanket over my lap. Silver rustled under the blanket and popped her head out from underneath. She laid her head on my chest and stared up to me with her beautiful purple eyes. I felt her breathing calm and her shivering stopped. She close her eyes and a smile was stuck on her face. I laid my head back on the couch and closed my eyes. The rain echoed in my head as I fell into a peaceful sleep. I opened my eyes and looked around the room. I saw Rainbow sitting at the table with her head down. I roll Silver in the blanket and lay her down on the couch. I put a hoof on Rainbow's shoulder and she tenses up. "Rainbow, whats the matter?" I asked her. She slid a letter to me and I picked it up to read it. Dear Rainbow Dash, We are proud to announce that you are welcome to join the Wonderbolts. For your outstanding performance and the rescuing of the team, we want you to join our crew. We would like to hear from you as soon as possible. Expect your outfit to arrive after our first meeting in Canterlot. Sincerely, The Wonderbolts Captain I was amazed at the sight of the letter. But why was Rainbow reacting in such a way. "Rainbow, this is great news! Why are you upset?" I asked her sitting down at the table. "Because, If I join the Wonderbolts, I won't be able to have anytime for our family." she sobbed. "Rainbow, I understand what you mean. But you should do what you think is right. I'm sure you can visit us sometimes. Don't let just one thing keep you from your dreams." I explained to her. "Breeze, I love you and Silver so much. I can't join them. Because this was my dream." She said pointing to Silver. "I found out that my real dream, was to become a mother." "And you did Dashie. You became the best mom." I said pulling her into a hug. "Thanks. I'm going to write them back today. I'll tell them about my family. Maybe they'll understand why I wont join." She said folding the letter back up. I went back to the couch and picked up Silver. Her eyes opened and she let out a small yawn. I brought her up and kissed her head. She giggled and her wings began to buzz. I took the blanket off of her and set her on the table. I went to the fridge and pilled out her bottle. Silver smiled as I sat back down at the table. I set the bottle on the table and Silver grabbed it with her small hooves and rolled on her back. Her wrapped her lips around the bottle and sucked the liquids from inside. I watched as she almost finished the bottle. I grabbed the bottom and popped it out of her mouth and put it back into the fridge. I sat back down at the table and Silver put one of her small hoof against mine and smiled at me. "High-hoof." I said to her, laughing. She stood on her hooves and began to trot across the table to Rainbow. Rainbow and I looked at each other as the little filly made her first steps. We picked up Silver and congratulated her. She flailed her hooves around and giggles as I tickled her. "How about we celebrate with some ice-cream." I said grabbing a pouch of bits. Rainbow and I trotted out the door to a nearby ice-cream parlor. Silver sat on Rainbows back and smiled the whole way there. We stepped inside and looked at all the many flavors. "I'll have 2 scoops of vanilla." I said to the owner. "And I'll have a scoop of chocolate mint." Rainbow said to him. He put our ice-cream into cups and handed them to us. I handed the bits to him and we turned to a booth to sit down. I grabbed a small spoon from the jar and put some ice-cream in Silver's mouth. She swallowed the ice-cream and her face lit up with enjoyment. Silver grabbed the spoon from my hoof and stuck it into the ice-cream and scooped out some. She held the spoon with two hooves and began to lick it off with her small tongue. I grabbed a spoon of my own and began to eat too. "How's you ice-cream, Dashie?" I asked looking up at her and putting the spoon in my mouth. "It could be 20% cooler. I wonder if they have avocados back there?" she said looking back to the owner. My jaw dropped as she said that. I remembered the cravings she got for avocado when she was having Silver. The spoon fell out of my mouth and landed on the table. There was no way she was pregnant again! "Um... Dashie, are you-" I muttered. "I'm just kidding!" She said taking another spoonful to her mouth. I sighed in some relief and grabbed a new spoon from the jar. I laughed and grabbed another spoonful. I looked down at Silver as she stuck the spoon in the ice-cream again. This time she accidentally knocked over the cup an some leaked out. I set the cup back up right and looked at Silver. She knew she did something bad. She held the spoon in front of her face and she trembled. Silver looked around the spoon and up to me. Her rainbow mane covered one eye and she trembled with a sad look on her face. "I can never be mad at something so adorable!" I said nuzzling her. She let out a small giggle and I held the cup as she stuck it in again. We all finished our ice-cream and left. I sat outside and watched as Rainbow and Silver played. Rainbow had finally gotten Silver to hover off the ground. Silver buzzed her wings and glided over to Dashie. When they met up Rainbow pulled Silver in an embrace. I watched them for hours and the sun had been setting. I had begun to plan something for Silver's birthday. Not just for her but Rainbow should also enjoy what I had in mind. >Author's note: I think I'm going a little heavy with the 'Daw' factor. But I think that's what makes this story a little worth reading. But otherwise, tell me what you think because it's not over yet!
