Chapter 23: Departing Gift
I awake to Rarity sitting on top of my chest
“Hey Shadow” says Rarity with a smile
“Hey Rare, what are you doing up so early” I say rubbing my eyes
“Darling, I thought I would give you something before you left on your expedition” smiles Rarity
“It’s an expedition now” I say with a confused look
“Did I say expedition….dearie me” giggles Rarity, “anyway I want to give you a present before you go”
Rarity hopes of my stomach and walks over to something covered in a white cloth
“What’s behind the cloth?” I say looking at the cloth strangely
“Wait and see” smiles Rarity as she walks over to the cloth, “before I show you this is something I wouldn’t usually make, so I’m not quite sure if you will like it darling but I did my best”
“I promise not to laugh”
“Okay here it is” says Rarity as she pulls down the cloth, “I call it LA Revolution”
Behind hind the cloth was a black leather duster/trench coat similar to the style of Dante’s from Devil May Cry, but instead Rarity had sowed in tribal designs along the forelegs of the coat and a Celtic cross laid in the middle and the inner lay of the coat was imbedded with red silk and two black strips of leather lay across the middle of the coat with a buckle at the end so the jacket could be closed.
“OH My God, Rarity” I say walking up to the coat in amazement, “It’s beautiful, how did you know that I liked this kind of design”
“Well you did bring your laptop back with you when you came with all your stuff from earth, so I took a look on it and saw the designs for this coat and decided to tailor it for you”
“So you’ve been making this jacket before we got together” I say looking at Rarity in shock
“Well if you put it that way, I guess so…I’m completely sorry about prying on your personal business”
“No don’t be….I still can’t believe you made this for me, I….Love it”
“Try it on” insist Rarity
“Okay” I say as I quickly grab it of the mannequin
The coat fits like a glove you could feel the softness of the embedded silk rubbing against your fur and the designs across the sleeves of the coat
“It’s so awesome” I say looking at myself in a mirror
“Im glad you like it” blushes Rarity, “now you better get ready for your journey to New Yorke”
I go to take the jacket off until Rarity says to keep it on and wear it to New Yorke
“Rarity I can’t wear this to New Yorke what will happen if I ruin it” I say undressing
“Shadow, I’m willing to take a risk with you not ruining the jacket plus I made this Jacket for you and what good is it if you never wear it” says Rarity while lacing it back up, “Now wear this jacket to New Yorke for me okay”
“Fine I’ll wear it for you” I say before kissing Rarity, “now I better get ready, it’s a long walk from here to New Yorke and I plan to leave soon”
“Sure darling, you go pack” says Rarity giving me a peck on the cheek
I walk across to my house and grab two black and red saddle bags with a design that looks like my cutie mark as the buckle from my bedroom and begin to put necessary items like food and water and a other camping items inside the bags.
‘That should do me before until I get to New Yorke’ I think to myself
I walk back downstairs and outside and lock my front door and notice Rarity waiting for me outside her boutique
“Shadow you look after yourself alright while you’re gone okay… don’t get into any fights with the locals of New Yorke and make sure you come back safe…Okay darling” stresses Rarity
“Yes mother…also you forgot don’t talk to any strangers while in New Yorke” I joke
“Shadow I’m serious I don’t want anything to happen to you while you’re gone okay” says Rarity while giving me a hug
“I’ll be fine, it’s me who should be doing all the worrying we got a baby coming soon and all this wedding stress probably ain’t helping you” I comfort Rarity, “So make sure you don’t over work yourself okay Rare”
“I’ll be alright” Rarity says before turning the hug into a kiss
“Come on you two” says Applejack as soon as she arrives, “yawl better be finished before it gets dark”
“Hold your horses Applejack I’ll be there in a sec” I say pulling away from Rarity, “I’ll see you later okay Rare”
“Of course you will, I’ll be here when you get back” smiles Rarity
I trot over to Applejack and notice Rainbow Dash isn’t here yet
“Hey Applejack where’s Rainbow Dash”
“I dunno, I didn’t even know she was comin’”
I look up towards the sky and notice a cloud with a rainbow strip lying on top of it
“I think I found her” I say floating up to the cloud
“Hey Rainbow Dash” I scream at the top of my lungs
I must have yelled so loud that it startled Dash and she fell off the cloud landing face first on the floor
“Hahahaha” Applejack laughs, “That will teach ya for sleepin’ around when we need to get goin’”
“That wasn’t very nice Shadow, we better get going” says Dash before storming off
As we were about to leave I could hear somepony calling out my name
“Shadow….Shadow wait up” yells somepony
I turn around and see Vinyl Scratch running full pelt towards us
“Hey Vinyl Scratch what are you doing here, I thought you had a gig tomorrow night”
“Yeah I do, but it so happens to be in New Yorke” puffs Vinyl Scratch, “so I thought I might tag along with you guys… if you don’t mind that is”
“Na it’s alright by me” I say
“Same here” says Dash and Applejack
“Well welcome to the group” I say with a big smile, “we better get going before we waste any more time”
I turn around to wave my final good bye to Rarity while yelling the words “I love” at the top of my lungs while I watch Rarity wave back with a beautiful smile upon her face as we all set off down the road to New Yorke.
