//------------------------------// // My Rain of Daggers // Story: Equestrian Fanfiction // by Lise //------------------------------// @all: Okay! Who did it? Don't make me start digging through aether signatures! (You know I can!) Just mare up and admit it! Code, was it you? :/ LyraHands Huh? What happened! What are you going on about? I've done nothing but study since you left. Just take a deep breath and tell me what's going on. PM might be better, I think. CodeFilly @LyraHands: Aroo? Never seen you react this way, mare. What's going on? RRBB @all, @CodeFilly, @RRBB: My Rain of Daggers! Who wrote it?! It's an entirely new account, and yet they got the tags all right on the first go, do I know it's somepony's alt! I read through the first few chapters and it's beautiful! I feel the same way I felt when I read The Human and I for the first time! It's so new and different and... It's as if somepony took the characters and made an entirely different world with them, yet so complex and intricate That it's exactly like the real thing! The Cerberus Council? The Water Initiative? It's like someone turned Midnight Castle upside down... in a good way! Seriously, whoever thought of this is a genius! LyraHands I've been keeping my eye on that and I agree. There could have been some more hip-showing, but it's remarkably well written. Far better than any of mine (I'm so jealous! >:I). I don't see who could have done it, though. Isn't me, and the style isn't anything like RRBB's or Bob's. And it's way more deep than the newbies on the site. A pony who's written before did this. Dark? Jade? Brush Nope. If I had written it I wouldn't have gotten the mythological aspect so wrong. I mean, come on, the myths are all over the place! Cerberus crossed with the mirror pool, and the siren's banishment? The "four elements of concord"?! Apollo can't be Hade's son, since it's clearly stated in the original myths that he's clearly a child of Zeus. There isn't even contention! Starswirl himself makes a note on four occasions! All those inconsistencies aside, the story is quite promising and grammatically sound (to the Canterlot comma). Could it be one of the series writers? DarkSparkle As much as I would like to take the credit it isn't my work. The only thing I can add is that I'm almost certain it's written by a mare. Personally, I don't think the author is trying to hide it. Interesting they picked Simile for their pen name. @Luna: I'm also curious if it's somepony on staff that wrote this. By the amount of poetic imagery used, I'd say the author had music or fine arts training. Jade I'll ask about, but usually the writers don't get involved in such things. Technically there's nothing keeping them, but for the most part they don't have the time. I, myself, don't recognize the style, but that doesn't mean a thing. We have a few authors who have written everything from foal-stories to extremely suggestive romances. Luna Whoever it is, they've been to Tartarus and back. Some of the descriptions are too real to be imagined. That whole scene in the Everfree forest (and the maiming of the rebellious Cerberus sibling) that's way too detailed. I'm not saying that the author got maimed, but s/he definitely experienced some amount of pain. Also the whole theme of betrayal seems to run so smoothly, unlike the romantic instances. Although, that might be the author getting a feel of things. Oh, and let's not forget that the author has read a lot of MC! Making references about obscure Mistmount characters from Volume 3, that requires dedication. I don't think the author liked the originals, though. Not one single reference. That rules out Tech, I guess. MixaMax @LyraHands: I'll kill you! :/ You had me in tears trying to figure out what I did wrong! :( Story is nice, though. And you can't trace the signature, can you? (I can't either. It's very well hidden.) CodeFilly @CodeFilly: sorry, but... Argh! Now I'm wondering if I met the author at the meetup! This is so infuriating! If there's anypony I really want to find out the identity, that's Simile! I was so convinced it was somepony here. I've sent a dozen PMs, but no response. (And I know Simile has received and read them! :/) @Simile: y u do this? LyraHands Pfft! I could do better. Style is fine, dialogue and descriptions are okay. Characters are a bit talky. The huge plus is the worldbuilding, though that too (as Dark pointed out) was mostly assembled from various sources. RRBB @RRBB: the day you tell a story like that is the day I sculpt a life-size nude humanized statue of your choice. Face it, you're good, but not that good. PaintDrop @PaintDrop: Oh, really? Any humanized statue? Any pose? You're on! And since you didn't specify, there's no time limit! The only thing that matters is that I become as good, right? RRBB Umm, can't we just ask here? :) @Simile: I <3 your story! Can I make a song based on it? SweetStuff @Simile: I think there's just one area that your story is lacking. (And I'm not talking about how close to the original myths it is :)) If you need any help, let me know. :) InItForTheShipping @all: Hold the presses! I got a response! Simile will continue her story, but asks if she can commission art and music for it. Any takers? LyraHands I don't need bits :) The song will be my gift to Simile and to all Nightlings :) SweetStuff If none of the professional artists on the site (hello, teacher) decide to take it on, I'll be willing to. PM me if you choose and we'll talk trade or bits. PaintDrop @Simile: Wait! Are you a stallion or a mare? Brush @Brush: I'm whatever you want me to be ;) Simile
