Magic and Mystery

Tails, Twilight Sparkle and a young male minifig with purple skin, blue short legs, a green torso and arms and was wearing a red baseball cap, were walking through a dark forest on the outskirts of Canterlot City. There was a feeling of dread and unease as they progressed through the trees.

"Y-You sure this was the way, Twilight?" The young boy asked. He clung close to his friend as he trembled in fear.

"Positive, Spike," she replied. She tapped her homemade Emerald Radar. "Picking up a strong signal in this direction."

"I have to admit I'm surprised that your mechanical skills are on par with mine," the two-tailed fox said as he was currently spinning his tails to keep himself in the air.

"And I'm surprised you can actually do that with your tails," Twilight giggled a little.

"Well, I gotta keep up with Sonic somehow," Tails shrugged. The trees now appeared to be glaring at them as they continued down the path. "So anything interesting about this forest, Twilight?"

"Well, many people have claimed to see ghosts and monsters around here, especially near the old house on the hill. Personally, I think it's a bunch of superstitious nonsense."

"Y-You sure about that?" Spike trembled as the eerie sounds began to grow louder. Just then, Twilight's radar pinged again.

"Huh?! Another Emerald in the area?!" She tapped the device to make sure it wasn't malfunctioning. The second Emerald blip was still present on the screen, and appeared to be... moving? Before she could point this out, the sound of an engine rumbling began to catch up to them. Twilight pulled Spike out of the way as a large green-and-blue van zoomed by. It has the words "The Mystery Machine" written on both sides and seemed to have three people in the front.

"Hey, watch where you're going!" Spike angrily shouted, causing the van to stop and reverse back towards them. The driver was a male minifig with a light blonde hairpiece, an orange ascot, white shirt and blue legs. Sitting next to him were two girls, the one in the middle had a long orange hairpiece and was wearing purple and the other one had a short brown hairpiece, wore rectangular glasses and an orange sweater torso.

"Sorry about that," the driver said, causing Spike to calm down. "Hey, you guys want a ride?"

"That would be great considering someone insisted that we walk here instead of using a Jump Gate," he shot a glare at Twilight.

"And I told you before, we need to fully scope out these new areas before we can allow use of the Jump Gate. For all I know, we could have ended up in a volcano." The three opened the back doors of the Mystery Machine to see a male minifig with a brown hairpiece, a green torso, brown legs and a small beard on his face. Sitting next to him was a large brown dog. Tails, Twilight and Spike carefully sat next to the doors before closing them. The van then resumed driving through the forest.

"I'm Shaggy by the way," the green torso minifig held out his hand, which Twilight shook. "And this is my dog, Scooby-Doo."

"Nice to meet you both," Tail beamed.

"Like, did you just talk?" Shaggy's eyes widened in surprise.

"Um, yes?"

"Jinkies!" The girl with glasses turned towards them. "This might even be a bigger mystery than our current one!" Twilight and Spike looked at each other in confusion. "My name's Velma. I'm sort of the brains for our group."

"Same," Twilight cracked a little smile.

"I'm Daphne," the orange haired girl reached out to shake hands with the three. "And the guy driving is Fred. We solve mysteries together, and are collectively known as Mystery Incorporated."

"What sort of mysteries?" Twilight asked curiously.

"Normally ghosts and monsters," Daphne continued, ignoring the fact that Spike was trembling more now.

"That usually turn out to be people in costumes," Velma deadpanned. "And I'm sure the ones sighted at the house are also fakes."

"Yeah, but it's a great mystery to solve," Fred argued. "That many ghosts and monsters in one spot?" Scooby, Shaggy and Spike simultaneously gulped at the thought.

"Anyway," Twilight adjusted her glasses before continuing. "Have you guys seen any strange glowing gems?"

"I'm afraid not," Velma shrugged as the van came to a stop outside a creepy old mansion. Lightning flashed across the dark sky, causing Spike to jump up in shock. Twilight gently led him out of the Mystery Machine after the others had exited the van. As the group approached the old house, four shadowy figures observed them from the building's second story.

Mystery Inc, plus Twilight, Spike and Tails slowly crept through the dilapidated old halls of the mansion, Fred leading the group while Velma illuminated their way with a flashlight.

"So what's the plan?" Twilight asked the gang's leader.

"Well, we'll split up and search for clues," Fred explained. "Velma, you go with Scoob and Shaggy. I'll go with Daphne."

"Um, doesn't splitting up usually end badly in these types of movies?" Spike pointed out, but the others had already gone their separate ways, leaving him with Tails and Twilight. "And I'm ignored..."

"Don't worry about them, Spike," Twilight said reassuringly. "We've got two Emeralds to find here." As they continued down the main hall, the sound of clanking slowly became louder behind them. "Tails, if that's you tinkering, can you please keep it down?"

"What are you talking about? I've been next to Spike the whole time."

"Then what's that..." Twilight slowly turned around and saw a large suit of black armor looming over them. "...that wasn't there before." The armor began to move on its own, attempting to grab Spike. He leapt out of the way just in time and crashed into Twilight, knocking them both to the floor.

"Wh-What is that?!" Spike trembled as the armor began to stomp towards them.

"I don't know..." Twilight was filled with fear. "But we gotta RUN!" The three dashed towards one of the rooms branching off from the hallway as a pop song inexplicably began to play in the background.

"Pinkie, is the music really necessary?" Human Applejack covered her ears as Pinkie Pie played the pop song loudly on her music player.

"Of course! This is a Scooby-Doo chase after all!"

As Tails, Twilight and Spike dashed from room to room, they were now being followed by a minifig in an old diving suit, a white sheet ghost and a hunched over man that kept moaning "Creeper." As the chase continued, they suddenly bumped into Mystery Inc, putting the music to a halt.

"You ran into the monsters too?" Shaggy asked while holding Scooby's shaking form in his arms.

"Y-Yeah!" Spike panted. "All that running tired us out fast."

"Hang on," Twilight interrupted. "Something doesn't add up. Why would a diving suit monster be so far out here from the sea?"

"That's actually a good point," Tails added. "I think these aren't real monsters, I think they're..."

"People in costumes," Velma deadpanned. "Like every mystery we have ever solved."

"...I like you," Twilight grinned. "So how about we turn the tables on them instead? First, we'll need..."

"A trap!" Fred interrupted. Twilight gave an annoyed stare before continuing.

"We'll need a plan to catch them off-guard first, then trap them."

Soon

In the mansion's basement, Tails had finished constructing a large cage that was now hanging about the stairs. How he managed to find enough bricks to build it without tearing the mansion apart was a mystery to solve for another day. The plan was for Scooby, Shaggy and Spike to lure the monsters towards the basement and the others would pull the cage down on them.

"How come we gotta be the bait?" Spike groaned as they wandered the mansion's halls again, searching for the monsters.

"We've been doing this role our whole career, man," Shaggy patted the young minifig's back while Scooby nodded in agreement. "Well, that and also wearing disguises."

"Okay, not dignifying that with a response," Spike sighed as the loud clanking sound of the Black Knight caught up to them. "Here we go..." he muttered as the four monsters began to chase them again, this time however, the heroes had a plan. Heading to the basement, the monsters followed them down the stairs.

"NOW!" Fred shouted before the others released the rope holding up the cage. The large shape slammed down on the monsters, trapping them.

"Let me out!" The Black Knight shouted in a woman's voice.

"Now let's see who these monsters really are," Velma stated as she pulled the masks off of all four. Three of the culprits had shiny, pupilless light blue eyes and dark green skin. Their leader (the Black Knight) was similar in appearance but had pupils and a small crown on her head.

"Queen Chrysalis and the Changelings?!" The group asked in unison.

"Who are they?" Tails asked in confusion.

"Only one of the top names on the Lego World's Most Wanted list," Twilight explained. "Their M.O. is dressing up as monsters and scaring people away in hopes of stealing treasure. They must've been looking for the Chaos Emeralds."

"And I would've gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids and your dumb dog and fox," Chrysalis growled. "Those Emeralds would have given me the strength needed to overthrow Maleficent and take over her operation!" The lights suddenly went dark as green flames filled the room. When they died down, the Mistress of All Evil was standing before her former minion.

"So you intended to betray me the whole time," Maleficent slowly stroked Chrysalis's cheek as the Queen of the Changelings now had an expression of fear on her face.

"O-Of course not, Mistress," she pleaded. "I was just finding the Emeralds for you!" As she spoke, the red Chaos Emerald she was carrying floated from her hand and into Maleficent's.

"You intended to use them to take over. For that, I hereby banish you to the zone where phantoms dwell! May you suffer eternally in that Hell!"

"Can she say that?" Spike whispered to Twilight as Maleficent waved her staff and created a portal that began to suck Chrysalis and her three henchmen inside.

"I'll return, Maleficent!" The Changeling Queen proclaimed as she was drawn into the vortex. "And then you will bow to me!" The portal then closed itself.

The Phantom Zonnnnne.... The Phantom Zonnnnne...

Queen Chrysalis fell face-first onto a hard brick surface surrounded by mist. A floating brick with blinking colorful studs was moving around her and her minions.

"Welcome to the Phantom Zone, bad guy," the brick, Phyllis, greeted the now trapped villains.

"Sh-She can open portals," Twilight said in disbelief as the evil fairy turned to them.

"So you are the ones who have been opposing me," Maleficent smirked. "I must say, I was expecting someone a little... older."

"We may be young," Tails said defiantly. "But we're stronger than you think!" He quickly grabbed the flashlight from Velma's hand and shone it into Maleficent's eyes, temporarily blinding her and allowing Spike to swoop in and snatch the Emerald from her hand, while placing a small device on her robe.

"Run!" Twilight shouted to the others. The group dashed outside, leaving an angry Maleficent alone in the basement.

"Run all you like, children!" She shouted. "In the end, Chaos will reign supreme!" She then warped herself back to her fortress.

Outside, Spike was panting as he held onto the Mystery Machine's side for support.

"So we need to regroup with the others," Tails said to Twilight. "Spike managed to place a tracker on Maleficent as well back there, so we now know where she is."

"But we're still missing an Emerald."

"Oh, you mean this?" Shaggy held out a glowing blue gem and offered it to Twilight. "Me and Scoob stumbled across it while running from those Changelings."

"Thanks, Shaggy!" Twilight accepted the Emerald and gave him a small hug. "We now have all of them! Let's go back and meet with the others!" As soon as she said that, her communicator started to buzz. "Sunset?"

"Twilight, we need you back here! Fluttershy has been captured by Dr. Eggman and we're about to board his Egg Carrier!"

"We'll be there as soon as possible!" Twilight promised as she hung up and nodded at Tails. The three hurried back to the Tornado and took off.

"They seemed like nice people," Daphne smiled as Scooby giggled.

"Scooby-Dooby-Dooooo!!!"

Aboard the Egg Carrier

Fluttershy held Lily close in the jail cell they were currently occupying. Just then, the room's door opened to reveal E-102 Gamma. The robot approached them and opened the cell.

"Bring the bird here," he droned.

"I-I can't do that, Mr. Robot," the animal lover held Lily close. "I promised I would find her family first." Gamma paused for a moment as her saying the word "family" echoed through his processor. "Um, Mr. Robot? Are you okay?"

"Go," Gamma finally said after a few minutes. "Escape from here."

"Th-Thank you," Fluttershy bowed her head before running out the room. As Gamma stared at the fleeing Lego Team member and bird, an image flashed in his memory banks. It showed a family of birds happily flying together in the sky. But before Gamma could view it further, an explosion shook him out of his soliloquy.

"Gamma," Dr. Eggman's voice shouted on the loudspeakers. "Report to the main deck immediately! We have some unwanted guests!" Gamma headed to the elevator to deal with the intruders.

Pinkie threw another container of sprinkles which promptly exploded at the Egg Carrier's engines.

"Bulls-eye!" She cheered while Knuckles and Applejack took on several of Eggman's robot guards, Amy and Sunset were double-teaming on Dr. Eggman's Egg Viper mecha with their hammer and sword respectively and Peter Pan had rescued Tinker Bell and was engaging the green robot that had snatched her before. As the battles continued, Sonic and Rainbow Dash noticed Gamma was emerging from the lower deck.

"Target: Sonic," Gamma's eyes flashed as he drew his gun on the hedgehog.
