Inside the mines, Silver and Sky were being escorted to the digging site while being held in stockades. Silver noticed a loose nail and decided to grab it with his hand before they released them. After Silver placed the nail in his pocket the guards placed shock collars around both Silver and Sky’s necks and told them if they disobey them or slack off they would be hit with 200 volts of electricity. Silver and Sky began digging for dine while they waited for the right moment to escape. One of the workers began to feel tired and collapsed and the guards came and activated their duel disks and activated a random card thus activating the shock collar around his neck. Sky began to lose hope after seeing what happened and Silver told him to stay strong. Silver remembered Barbara telling him about the mines and how the guards work in shifts and change every six hours and that it takes fifteen minutes for the previous guards to leave and the next ones to arrive so Silver told Sky when the next shift change begins he and Sky would try to escape. Thunderhooves wanted in after overhearing Silver’s plan. Thunderhooves explained how the Buffalo Tribe and the townspeople used to be friends until Lotton took over from the shadows and change everything. Thunderhooves swore he would help restore that friendship once Lotton was dealt with. Silver told Thunderhooves for the plan to work he needed to cause a riot when the next shift begins so Silver and Sky would have enough time to escape and save the town. Thunderhooves was a bit skeptical at first since he thought they would run away once they escaped the mines but Silver placed his fist over his heart and told Thunderhooves he swore upon his family’s name he would not abandon everyone and Thunderhooves agreed to the plan.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Appleloosa Lyra enter the building and found an underground lair where Lotton lived while the police tried to hunt him down. Lyra saw pictures of Barbara and Lotton in Crash Town before the divorce. As Lyra went deeper she heard muffled screams coming from a room next to the mantle. Lyra opened the door and saw a girl with white skin and blonde hair with sky blue and seafoam green high lights in it. Lyra untied her and removed her gag and then the girl began saying thank you repeatedly.
“ Are you Vapor Trail?” Lyra asked.
“ I am and who are you? Vapor replied.
“ I’m Lyra my boyfriend and Sky sent me to rescue you.
“ IS SKY OK IS HE HURT,” Vapor said as she panicked.
“ He and my boyfriend were captured but I'm sure they are going to be just fine,” Lyra assured Vapor.
Just as Lyra and Vapor were about to end their conversation a secret passage began to open and from out of it came a drill-shaped duel runner with multiple arms holding duel disks and in the driver’s seat was none other than Lotton himself. Before Lyra and Vapor could escape Lotton lassoed them and tied them both back to back and then threw them into the trunk of his runner. Lotton was about to retreat to his den when he got a report from one of the guards on duty that a riot was going on in the mines. Lotton grabbed his deck and set off to the mines.
Back in the mines Silver and Sky made it to the entrance where Barbara was waiting with Silver’s runner and deck. Silver told Sky to get behind him when Lotton began to chase them. Silver figured the only way out was to duel him while Sky holds on.
“ I activate the Speed World III Field Spell,” Silver said as he pressed a button on his throttle.
" DUEL MODE ENGAGED AUTOPILOT STANDING BY!” A computerized voice said as both Silver’s and Lotton’s duel disks turned on and a field display appeared on the screen.

Since the tunnel was a straight shot with no turns Silver got the first move since he was ahead of Lotton. Both Silver and Lotton drew their opening hands.
" I’ll start,” Silver said as he pulled a card from his hand. I’ll start by placing one card face down and end my turn.
“ My turn I draw,” Lotton said as he drew his sixth card. I summon Gatling Ogre in atk mode. The mechanical ogre from before appeared ready to blast.

“Next I place five cards face down. As Lotton set each of his cards Gatling Ogre began loading its ammunition. I activate Gatling Ogre effect I inflict 800 points of damage for every spell/trap I send from my field to the graveyard. Gatling Ogre began firing until a blue haired girl used her ivory scarf to block the bullets and save Silver.
“ WHY ARE YOUR LIFE POINTS UNTOUCHED?” Lotton yelled as the cavern began echoing.
“ I used my Effect Veiler to negate your monster’s effect this turn,” Silver replied.
“ I end my turn,” Lotton said with a hint of disappointment in his voice.
“ My turn I draw,” Silver said as he drew his fourth card. Silver needed to do something about the Ogre before Lotton could shoot again. Since Lotton still has his whole back row Silver just needed something strong enough to beat Gatling Ogre. First, I activate Emblem of Dragon Destroyer which allows me to add Buster Blader from my deck to my hand. Silver’s deck began to shuffle and stuck out the card that Silver was searching for. Next i normal summon Buster whelp. Buster Whelp flew right next to Silver and kept flying.

“ I activate my trap Narrow Tunnel,” Lotton said as a trap with a picture of a mine tunnel flipped up. Thanks to this trap we both can only summon one monster per turn but don,t even think about summoning more monsters because this trap destroys any new monsters you might be thinking of summoning.
“ I activate Twin Twisters so by discarding a card from my hand I can destroy your trap and my set card. Silver’s spell sent two tornadoes and blew away Narrow Tunnel and Silver’s set card which Silver was glad to destroy. Since I destroyed my Destruction Sword Forge I can special summon a destruction sword monster from my hand deck or graveyard so I summon my Sprite Buster Destruction Sword from my deck. A cute blue whelp jumped from a portal carrying a sword with a fairy wing design on the handle.

Buster Blader ran fast and slashed Gatling Ogre in half and then caused it to explode.

“ My turn I draw,” Lotton said as he drew his card. Lotton was mad now and decided to show Silver his more advanced tactics. First, I activate Call of the Haunted to bring back Gatling Ogre. Gatling Ogre rose from a portal and prepared its gun.

“ My turn I draw,” Silver said as he drew his second card. Silver needed a way around Lotton’s Ogre and noticed he drew exactly what he needed. I summon Timebreaker Magician in atk mode. A child in a black robe leaped out of a portal and wielded his sword like he was ready to fight.

“ Now I tune my level four Sprite Buster with my level three Timebreaker. Sprite buster leaped into the air and then transformed into four stars and then into four rings which surrounded timebreaker and caused him to turn into three stars and then into a green light.

Clearwing began to be covered in a coat of wind that spun around its whole body. Battle Clearwing attack Full Armor Ogre with Whirlwind Slash. Clearwing flew as high as it could inside the narrow tunnel and began to spin while charging at Full Armor and then ripped him apart.

“ My turn I draw,” Lotton said as he drew his card. Loton knew he had Silver now since he drew one of his deadliest cards. I tribute Gatling Ogre so I can special summon my Big Cannon Ogre. Gatling Ogre vanished and was replaced by a big ogre dressed as a general with three cannons on his back.

“ Battle Big Cannon Ogre attack Clearwing. Big Cannon Ogre began to load its cannons and fired at Clearwing filling the cavern with smoke. Lotton was sure he destroyed Clearwing until a green flash indicated it survived.
“ HOW IS YOUR DRAGON STILL ALIVE?” Lotton shouted as he nearly caused an echo.
"By sending Dragon’s Galeforce to the graveyard Clearwing can negate its destruction,” Silver replied.
“ But my Ogre still inflicts double the damage,” Lotton countered as Silver began to feel the force of the blast.

“ I end my turn and now Big Cannon returns to normal,” Lotton said as his monster lost its power boost.

“ My turn I draw,” Silver said as he drew his card. Silver drew exactly what he needed and figured now is the perfect time to end this. I equip your Ogre with Megamorph since my life points are greater than your Life Points your ogre loses half of its atk points. A red aura began to cover Big Cannon Ogre as it lost half of its atk.

“ Battle Clearwing attack Big Cannon Ogre and end this. Clearwing charged at hyper speed until Lotton activated his last resort.
“ I activate the trap Explosive Wall with this card you really will go down with a bang. Lotton pulled an explosive out and threw it at Silver’s runner but instead, it sends both Silver and Lotton in opposite directions. Both Clearwing and Big Cannon Ogre vanished indicating the duel was interrupted before a winner was declared. Lotton took some damage from the explosion but was still able to ride. Silver activated the wings on his runner and rode the shock wave out of the mines and he and Sky landed near the outskirts of Appleloosa. Silver cleared the dust and sand out of his runner’s intake tank and prepared to ride. Sky told Silver to just give up and go home before things got worse. Silver asked why Sky gave up hope and Sky told him to follow his direction to somewhere close to the western end of Appleloosa.
Silver and Sky arrived at what looked like a cemetery with wooden crosses and duel disks tied to them. Silver noticed most of the names were of people who were sent to the mines and forced to work until they died. One grave, in particular, caught Silver’s attention. This was the grave of Bright Mac which was the man who threw Silver his locket before collapsing. Silver removed his helmet in respect and placed the locket on the grave. Just then Sky noticed the duel disk on the grave still had some life left in it. Sky placed his arm through the duel disk and ripped it off the grave and swore to never give up again.
