//------------------------------// // Thank you, Merry! // Story: My Little Pony: Nakama is Magic // by Hotspot the 626th //------------------------------// Last time on My Little Pony: Nakama is Magic… After reappearing, now on the edge of the crumbling bridge, Twilight looked out and down at the large gape. She gasped as she saw both Luffy; looking both tired, injured, and fierce with steam coming off him and his skin sheening, and Lucci – still in his hybrid form – opposite each other and looking to be still fighting. Though she was glad that he was still fighting, she knew that her brother was reaching his limit. And observationally, Lucci looked to still have enough energy to finish his job. “Luffy!” Twilight’s shout reached the stallion, who turned to look through the hole to see her. She then shouted, “Beat him!” “So stay alive!” Together, most of the crew shouted the same thing determinedly. “So we can leave together!” Luffy didn’t say anything back to the group. He responded though with a happy and confident smile acknowledging what they had and were doing. He had been growing steadily exhausted, but in seeing his friends together his determination was renewed. So, as his technique began weakening, Luffy again activated his Second Gear technique. His fight wasn’t over. XXX Back on the bridge, Zoro looked back and spoke up. “They’re here…” Everyone turned to see two huge battleships lined up with the bridge between them. Standing on both sides, as announced by some high-ranking individual, was two hundred elite solders ready to fight. With a might roar, all of them jumped down from their ships starting their attack. XXX “Gum-Gum…” “Iron Body!” Lucci desperately placed up one last effort to outdo his opponent. With his body hard as iron, maybe even stronger, he believed he would withstand the attack. “…Jet…” “Gatling!” Too fast to see, stronger with each blow, unbelievably relentless; Luffy poured all his power into this last attack. Each punch like a sonic boom. He began screaming as he forces his exhausted body to continue its barrage upon Lucci. Each hit was important as his predecessor; there would be no going easy for this opponent. He wasn’t even sure what he was hitting half the time, but he would never let up against this opponent. Soon though, Luffy stopped. His attack had pounded Lucci like meat even pushing him back into the wall behind him. The wall broke and cracked until it finally crumbled down with Lucci. Immediately, Luffy fell flatly onto the floor. His Second Gear technique’s effect wearing off as well. On the Bridge of Hesitation, all the fighters stopped and looked over at the bridge. The end of Luffy and Lucci’s fight had attracted everyone’s attention. Even those on their ships were paused to see the outcome. It was clear; as Hattori – Lucci’s pigeon – returned to perch on his unmoving owner, who the winner was. “Let’s Go Back Together Robin!!! Everyone!!!” Shouting with the last of his energy, Luffy had proven his victory over his daunting opponent. Robin and everyone heard this clearly. Instantly, they were all overjoyed to hear their captain and friend, and that he had won. Robin was even crying a little; feeling a sense of relief and overcoming joy. Cipher Pol number 9 had been defeated. XXX “Everyone!” shouted Usopp, “Jump into the sea!” “Into the sea!” Every Straw Hat called out in joy. “Hang on everyone!” Nami warned to her crew as she prepared as well. But they – the Straw Hats – knew though. They knew there was someone there to help them. And her voice called out to them, “Everyone, let’s go back, to the high seas of adventure!” “Merry!” called out Luffy, overjoyed to see the sailing the vessel. That sailing vessel, the Going Merry, was waiting for her crew just down below them. Her magnificent presence like a godsend to our heroes. Though still battered and falling apart, the little ship would always be there for her beloved crew. And they would sail again and escape. Like always. “I came for you!” XXX “Coup de Vent!” The powerful air blast, once fired, launched the Going Merry into the air. To all those watching from aboard the warships, it was a feat deemed unreal. A ship was flying through the air was impossible; and yet, they were all seeing it for the first time. “Wait,” Robin said as she looked back towards the Buster Call ships, “there’s only nine.” “Huh?” asked Spike confused. “What does that mean?” Grimly, Robin stated, “Along with one that had been destroyed by their own hooves, there were eleven battleships in total when they arrived.” “What?” the whole crew said dumbly. Trying to peer up, Nami could only just barely see the young mare. “Who are these guys?” “Under the authority of the Navy by Fleet Admiral Sakazuki. I, Satsuki Kiryūin, student council president of Honnouji Academy as part of the Young Justice program, hereby place you and your group under arrest!” SATSUKI KIRYUIN Luffy & Twilight: We’re always shining, running, forever Sharing the best adventures together And as we follow our dreams however crazy they seem We won’t stop until we reach the end so Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up heartbeat! We’re always shining, running, forever Sharing the best adventures together And as we follow our dreams however crazy they seem We won’t stop until we reach the end so Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up heartbeat. We are the one! Go ahead! Thank You, Merry! Snow Falls over the Parting Sea The Straw Hats were in real trouble now. Behind them, a burning island with several warships trapped in fierce currents. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t last long, those battleships could shape up at any moment. However, the biggest problem lied before them. A lone battleship blocked their path, entirely occupied by high-school age ponies. All strangely uniformed and resolved like soldiers. The battleship’s three bow (front) cannons were aimed right at them. But far more frightening, there were five various creatures looking as intimidating as a vice-admiral or even higher, and at their head was the young mare Satsuki Kiryun. Such a young pony already commanding like a high-ranking general and the disposition of a queen. More importantly though, the question on everyone’s mind was, “where the hell was that blinding light coming from”. Her guard, they assumed, looked equally as commanding and strong. Four different creatures, two of which they’ve never seen before, under the command of a single and intimidating mare; very dangerous indeed. It was fortunate that they had at least given them a proper introduction. “I am Satsuki Kiryūin…” SATSUKI KIRYUIN “And by the authority of the Navy, as part of the--” “Ooh!” Pinkie Pie interrupted; sounding amazed for some reason. “Neat trick. I want to try it too!” Peeved a little, Satsuki continued. “By the authority of--” Pinkie Pie quickly jumped on the railing. A pink light suddenly shined behind her directed at the group of students. They were immediately blinded by it including the Elite Four. It was as bad, if not worst, than being shined on by their leader’s light. Of course, as a strong individual, Satsuki was hardly impressed by the awful pink light. Nor did she flinch away. The same could not be said for Pinkie Pie’s friends however. “Pinkie Pie!” shouted Usopp befuddled. “What the hell?!” Pinkie Pie then shouted out cheerfully, “Hello! I’m Pinkie Pie!” PINKIE PIE “Awesome!” Pinkie Pie said ecstatically happy. “It worked!” Annoyed, Rainbow Dash asked, “Pinkie, what the…” “Also, I’m known as Pinkamena Diane Pie!” PINKAMENA DIANE PIE “Neat!” Pinkie Pie said impressed. “Seriously!” Everyone shouted in frustration. Of course, these interruptions did not sit well with the members of the Elite Four. Gamagori thus shouted out, “How dare you scum interrupt Lady Satsuki?!” Pinkie Pie tried speaking, “I--” “Enough!” A single, commanding shout from Satsuki immediately ended the nonsense and everything else. Even the large stallion Gamagori went silent instantly. As such, both lights instantly vanished, and all returned to normal. “Aww~” Pinkie Pie whined disappointingly. She then pouted glumly, “Party pooper.” Satsuki continued, “By the authority of the Navy, as part of the Young Justice program, I place you all under arrest.” Hear this, Nami began panicking immediately. “They do work for the Navy!” Though the group was shocked by this realization, Robin looked at the group with intrigue. “The Young Justice program…” “If they’re with the navy,” Zoro said as his magic formed around his remaining usable swords, “then we’ll defeat them too.” “Yeah!” shouted Rainbow Dash determinedly. She immediately took flight and was ready to fight. Everyone agreed with Zoro, even Robin despite her slight interest. After calming down a little, Nami too agreed. They all readied for another fight. As they still could not move; Chopper, Luffy, and Twilight remained sidelined. Even Fluttershy, despite her meekness and fear, held up her new friend Funkfreed in his sword form ready to attempt to fight. Immediately, Satsuki called out, “Students of Honnouji Academy!” “Yes ma’am!” They all, including the Elite Four, responded attentively and instant. “Here we go again.” Sanji stated with irk. Without hesitation, Satsuki gave out the command. “Attack--” Boom! Boom! Boom! Satsuki was interrupted a second time. This time, by an onslaught of cannon fire colliding with her ship. The explosions hit their starboard (right) side which rocked the boat fiercely and with enough force to throw nearly everyone off balance. Making them slide back and forth with each sway. Even the Elite Four could not hold still. Though the stoic Gamagori, like a stone guardian, remained posed and unconcerned despite sliding around as well. Fortunately, neither he nor anyone else fell off. For his part, Admiral Aokiji still didn’t seem interested even while sliding around on the deck. Above all, the commanding and towering Satsuki remained firmly in her spot. She kept her forbearing expression and simply glanced to the side. She could see smoke coming from the hull of her ship. At a cursory glance, the damage looked minimal. Which was why she looked instead out to sea, to see who had been so foolish to attack her. With tension lost between them, the Straw Hat group eased up slightly. Of course, the question on everyone’s mind was the same even for them. “Who was that?” asked Nami. Except, five mares and a baby dragon had an idea. “Could it be?” Rarity asked out hopeful. “You can’t fool me!” Satsuki shouted phlegmatic. “I see you’re outline one the water.” She then shouted, “Show yourself!” To everyone’s surprise, a new voice spoke back. “Heh. Clever girl.” The male voice said impressed. Though most could not recognize the voice, the several aboard the Going Merry did. Especially the Mane Five. “That’s…!” Lifting his sleep mask, Kuzan finally seemed interested in the situation. “Oh my…” He also seemed to know who was here as well. “Camouflage down!” On command, a seemingly empty area began rippling something into sight. An outline showed it was a sailing vessel. It was much bigger than the Merry Go, but smaller than the navy battleship; by at least half its size. The most prominent feature to begin appearing was its red sails being released by ponies, zebras, and even a Diamond Dog. And along with them, a black flag with a jolly roger upon it. Its symbol was all blue with a terrifying-looking skull of a unicorn and wings sprouted from its head, and below it were two, crossed cutlass swords. Then, moving further down the mast, the hull of the ship could be seen. Gun ports were opens on the port (left) side; towards the warship. Finally, the illusion magic revealed at the forward (front) of the ship was the figurehead; a beautiful golden Alicorn. Its horned glowed bright with the magic that had hidden the ship moments ago until it all receded back in. Once so, the horn ceased its glow, and the full majesty of the ship. “The Golden Alicorn!” shouted Spike joyous. “Whoa!” Rainbow Dash said amazed. “Who knew it could do that!” The (original) Straw Hat crew looked at the baby dragon surprised. “You know that ship?” asked Franky surprised. The name seem to resonate with Robin as well. “The Golden Alicorn…” She said sounding familiar with the name. Immediately, she looked to the Mane Five and Spike. “You don’t mean…” Tired of waiting, Satsuki soon shouted, “Identify yourself, Pirates!” Soon, an exuberant roar erupted from on the new ship. The crew of the ship, a collection of ponies and some zebras and Diamond Dogs, revealed themselves on deck and facing towards everyone. They waved their swords, pistols, and other weapons as if trying to rile the groups into a fight. Much of it directed at the battleship. Of course, among them, the Mane Five and Spike were able to identify key individuals who were scattered among their crew. “Marina!” “Slash!” “Big Rummy!” “Gem La Stone, darling!” “T-Cog!” “Shimmer!” “Well, well,” The same male voice from before spoke again, softly this time. “It would appear our friends are in need of some help.” The figure, the captain of the ship, soon strode to the front of the crew, who parted away to allow him to reveal himself. With the way clear, the blue stallion walked up to the railing and then hoped atop of it. Garbed with fancy turncoat and most favorite of hats, the aged pony looked out to the situation before them. A small, almost barely floating sailing vessel against an intimidating warship full of school-aged ponies far too young to have much experience in either fighting or sailing. The situation made the stallion smirk pleased; this situation was one he knew they could handle easily. “You wish to know who I…who we are?” The old stallion asked incorrigibly. Gamagori was the first to reply, “You will answer Lady Satsuki’s question, you swines!” “I am Captain Jack Silver!” The pony shouted out proudly. “And this will be the day you all remember as the day you almost captured the Straw Hat pirates!” Immediately, the albino Pegasus T-Cog shouted, “Fire!” Instantly, the cannons off the port (left) side fired. Several cannonballs soared through the air towards the warship. Due to its unfortunately large size, the battleship was hit by every cannonball. Most of them hit the hull of the ship, but a few were able to hit the rudder. The resulting explosion completely destroying it and thus disabling their steering. Again, the navy battleship began swaying and rocking. Only now, uncontrolled and at the mercy of the currents. Everyone aboard was again thrown off balance. That is, except for Satsuki, but she was now greatly irked. As he watched, Jack smugly smirked. Another case of experience triumph over youth; though he’d never vocalize this particular gloat. Lest karma suddenly pay him a nasty visit. For now, he focused on a rather interesting set of youngsters. “Come on you lot!” He shouted to the Going Merry, “Get movin’!” Nami nodded. “He’s right.” She said before turning to her crew. “Everyone, let’s get out of here!” Without a moment’s hesitation, everyone agreed. They immediately sailed away from the battleship. All while the battleship of Honnouji Academy was met with an onslaught of cannon fire from their allies. So busy they were with the Golden Alicorn that capturing the Straw Hats became a nonobjective. Now, it was to survive and fire back, and even then they hardly were prepared. Return fire came eventually from the warship, but the combination of the loss of stability for the huge ship and the Golden Alicorn was already moving out of range made it impossible to succeed in hitting it. Now, they were dead in the water; unmoving and uncontrolled. “We disabled them, Cap’n!” Slash announced proudly. Jack nodded, looking serious. “Then let us take our leave, mates.” “Aye-Aye!” shouted the crew together. As their attackers left them, Satsuki could only be angry with their change in luck. Were they not even substantial enough to sink? Not one to stand by and let anyone beneath her win, much less think little of her, Satsuki quickly attempted regain control of her ship. “Admiral Aokiji!” she shouted out commandingly, “Freeze the ocean now!” “Oh my…” The tall stallion actually moved from his seat, speaking lazily and calm. As being so tall, he could see the two pirate ships sailing away from them. Only, he wasn’t concerned; especially not in capturing. “Looks like our field trip is over.” Again, Satsuki commanded roughly, “Admiral Aokiji!” Kuzan simply sighed. “You’ve lost, Satsuki Kiryūin.” This as a shock for the young mare. Left momentarily speechless, her Elite Four gathered around her fuming furiously at the navy admiral. Gamagori was the first to roar out his rage, “How dare disregard our Lady’s command, you lazy dog!” “You’re a Navy Admiral,” shouted Sanageyama scornful, “you could easily defeat them without even being given a command!” “Yeah! What gives?” Jakuzure shouted indignantly. Kuzan breathed out coldly, “I’m not here to clean up messes.” Like ice it stung the group, including Satsuki. The Earth pony left it at that as he then walked over towards the side of the ship currently facing Enies Lobby. “You dare--” Gamagori was about to shout out in defense of his leader, but was stopped by Satsuki’s quick, outstretched hoof. The stallion, surprised and confused, could only stare down at his mistress. “Lady Satsuki…” Satsuki did not reply anything back. Her expression, both frustrated and disappointed, was enough to silence the large stallion and quell his rage. For she knew and thus conveyed to her subordinate that this was no time for butting egos with the higher ups. Even if it was unjustified of the admiral to not take action, she understood what the stallion was explaining to them. Mistakes will arise to those unprepared at sea, and if they couldn’t handle them on their own then surely they would be sunk. A valuable lesson indeed, but had nonetheless felt insulting to her pride. For now, they would have to abide to the whims of the admiral. Thusly, Admiral Aokiji looked out over the scene. An Empire-controlled island was burning, several of their own ships were caught in vicious currents, and to make this debacle even worst they had even failed in getting rid of the other attackers. For he saw, out of the corner his eye, the Straw Hats’ invading force plus two sleipnirs riding the sea train Puffing Tom joyously and triumphant. For the Navy, it was a poor sight. And so, he spoke disappointingly, “This incident is our complete and utter defeat.” After sailing for some time, both the Going Merry and the Golden Alicorn soon lost sight of the burning island and the many navy vessels there. It was safe to say, they had cleared all dangers remaining. Though they hadn’t noticed, it was no longer night anymore. There adventure both to and on Enies Lobby had brought them back into daylight. Perhaps, true daylight. Their adventure had started at night, and during the worst storm imaginable, bringing them to an island of light, which may have probably messed up their internal clocks. But, nevertheless, it was all over now. “Right here?” asked Zoro. “Yeah!” replied Luffy happily. Nodding in understanding, the black-coat unicorn placed his immobile captain on the Going Merry’s figurehead; right on his special seat. Luffy, whom was bandage up thoroughly, then laid sprawled out on top of the sheep head, and grinning happily. In a way, it was like he was hugging the ship. “Thanks Merry,” he told the boat, “We wouldn’t have escaped without you.” Then, Luffy turned in his spot onto his back. His grin became more excited as he used up some of his recovered energy to cheer out, “We won!” The crew gave out a cheer; full of energy despite being near exhausted. Aboard with them was Jack, who gave out a chuckled as he walked up by Luffy. “You lads sure did.” He said impressed. “Congrats!” “Thanks, Old Captain guy!” Luffy said cheerfully. Immediately, there came a snort, followed by outright laughter. It was Slash, with Big Rummy the Earth pony and T-Cog around him, and he was chuckling it up over his captain’s new nickname. “Hit the nail on the head, he did!” The dragon said between laughing. “Just forgot the name!” While the young dragon laughed, his fellow crewmates remained quiet. Only barely; Big Rummy was near in tears trying to resist. As for T-Cog, as old as his own captain, he simply smirked, finding some amusement in this situation. As for Jack, he was quite peeved at his little laughing crewmate, but he would deal with him later. For now, the old stallion quickly corrected the young pony, but on slightly less peeved than at his own. “That’s Captain ‘Jack’ to you, rookie.” From down on the lower deck, Robin chuckled with amusement. She then spoke, “It was very timely of you to aide our escape, I hope you aren’t here to slit our throats while we’re weak.” This sent a shiver to every one of her crewmates. “R-Robin!” They all shouted creeped out. Now, it was Jack’s turn to laugh; a light chortle mostly. He then answered back suavely, “Wouldn’t dream of it, my dear.” “Oi!” Sanji said cautious, slightly jealous. “But you can thank yer friends… Pardon, new crewmates for our timely arrival.” Jack stated referring to the Mane Six and Spike. He grinned as he continued to say, ““Yep. Probably would’ve never have come here otherwise.” Applejack couldn’t help but give the old captain a raised brow in disbelief. “Gee, mighty cordial of ya, Cap’n Jack.” Jack chuckled unashamed. “But we were moved by your spirit,” the old stallion said impressed to everyone, “I don’t know many pirate crews nowadays that would do something like that. Or live to tell the tale afterwards.” The old unicorn then looked at Luffy, flashing him a grin. “You’ve really impressed this old sea dog.” Luffy’s response was only a hearty snickering. The whole crew shared the same sentiment. A sense of pride and accomplishment brimmed from everyone. Meanwhile nearby, some members of the crew were getting treated. Specifically, Rarity and Twilight were being tended to. Inside Merry’s cabin, Chopper, having recovered enough strength to move on his own, was attending to the fashionista unicorn. Yet, despite having recovered, the poor reindeer was still a little woozy and weak. It was his good fortune that Fluttershy was giving him her time and help in healing their friend. This left Twilight, but not unattended. Healing a broken unicorn’s horn was a tricky business, and Chopper would’ve attended to it immediately if not for Jack. For fortunately, he had his own ship’s doctor, Marina, tend to the young unicorn. Her water magic was the perfect kind of remedy for it. As such, while Marina used her glowing and magic water to tend her patient’s horn, Twilight soon began to stir. Now, at first, Twilight had refused to immediately wake up. She did so for a number of reasons, but at the foremost was that she was worried. After all, her last memory was attempting to fight Rob Lucci. In fear of this harsh reality, her now emotional mind raced with many thoughts of capture and eventual torture for her and her friends. Then, Twilight began to notice was that her pain was subsiding. It was not totally gone, being now like small headache, but she could handle that. Another thing she began to notice, or feel, was a light rocking. Like she was on a boat. Needing to know what had happened, she then awoke in a flash. Which, oddly, she had then received a splash of water, and seaweed, to her face. This confused her entirely. “What?” “Sorry, Ms. Twilight.” Twilight heard a familiar, watery voice and looked with surprise to see Marina. Only, missing her head. Fortunately, the water pony simply reformed it placing back her hat and seaweed hair, and looking none too sore about it either. She only flashed her a smile and jokingly replied, “But I guess that was a faster way to shake your senses.” It took Twilight only a moment to understand what the doctor meant. “Oh!” She said a little embarrassed; blushing. “Sorry, Marina.” The kelpie shrugged nonchalantly. “Not the first time, Ms. Twilight, and probably won’t be the last.” Nevertheless, Twilight felt a bit guilty. Before she could apologize though, she heard her name called out. “Twilight!” She looked over to see Spike waddling into her room and quickly to her. He then jumped right at her and hugged her dearly. “You’re all right!” He cried out joyously and emotional. Twilight smiled. “Yeah,” she told the baby dragon, “I’m…” As she moved her ever so slightly, it felt like her head was about to roll off her body. Plus, she felt woozy as well. She thus stopped herself and took a moment to collect her senses. “Whoa…” “Twilight?” asked Spike concerned. “Do not worry.” Marina said understanding immediately the condition the unicorn was in. “You’re going feel a little loopy for a while. A unicorn’s horn accounts for much of their head’s balance.” “Yeah.” Twilight said, clearly still a little freaked by the sudden lightness. “I’d also refrain from using any spells for a while.” Marina added quickly. “At least until its properly healed. “Okay.” Twilight agreed acceptingly. To this, Spike was surprise. “You without magic, huh.” He spoke curiously and playfully. “That’s gonna be a few interesting weeks.” Twilight smirked towards the baby dragon. “That just means I’ll be requiring your help even more from now on, my number one assistant.” She replied back playfully, before wrapping the little dragon in one part teasing and another part as a show of platonic affection. Though a bit embarrassed, Spike confidently stated, “You can count on me!” “Twilight!” Suddenly, several shouts came and soon after several bodies tackled the purple unicorn with hugs. It was most of her friends who had done so with the exception of Rarity. Even those of the original Straw Hats – specifically Nami, Sanji, and Chopper – had joined in as well. All happy to know the unicorn was all right. Rarity of course remained where she was sitting, not wishing to aggravate her wounds. Nevertheless, she was just as happy for Twilight as the rest of them. “Thank goodness.” Rarity breathed out with relief. Eventually, those that had come to Twilight eased up after a while. “Thank you.” She said to everyone contently. “Twilight.” Recognizing the voice, Twilight looked around. She soon found the source, Robin, as she walked into the room, smiling. Immediately, Twilight stood up. A little too quickly unfortunately, nearly falling back down in doing so. Not just from lightness of her head, she also felt as if she had ran the entirety of the “Running of the Leaves” marathon. Her friends were quick to help her before she actually did fall. So, with a little help, the injured unicorn was able to make it over to her teacher, and give her hug. Even shedding a tear in joy that her beloved teacher was still with them. Robin, not surprised by this, hugged her faithful student back. They remained like this for a few moments until both had been satisfied. Looking around, Twilight asked, “Where’s Luffy?” “Don’t worry.” Robin told her student tenderhearted. “He’s outside, resting but awake and full of energy.” Twilight smiled, that sounded much like her brother. And yet, there was still a need itching within her mind, ‘Is he really okay?’ Immediately, she attempted to walk out of the room, but her lightheadedness and exhaustion was still causing her to sway and be dizzy. It was so unfortunate that she could barely make it out the door. Thankfully, she had help. Waddling up next to his friend, Spike supported Twilight the best he could. “I’ve got ya.” The baby dragon told the pony confidently. Surprised for a moment, Twilight smiled proudly at her little friend. “Thank you, Spike.” She told him gratefully. “Aww~” cooed much of the group in the cabin, even Sanji and Marina. The two of them carefully walked out the room. Their friends following behind them, only keeping an eye out just in case. Once outside, Twilight was greeted by the others and many more familiar faces. Zoro, Usopp (Sogeking), and the rest of their group were there to see the mare through. There was also a few others on board, all she recognized as various members of Jack Silver’s crew; Slash, Big Rummy, and T-Cog. They each gave their sentiments to the mare before letting her continue on her way. As she moved onward, she saw Captain Jack come trotting down the stairs. He momentarily stopped, surprised to see her, but then smirked. “Ms. Sparkle.” Jack said before stepping aside. Amused, Twilight gave the old stallion a smile. “Captain Jack.” She said pleasantly. With all said and done, she and Spike continued further. Once they reached the stairs, Twilight felt far better and more leveled. She excused her number one assistant and continued onward on her own. Spike had been a little fearful to do so, but after watching her climb the stairs easily and reach the top he was satisfied. Now, Twilight stood before her brother. The red Earth pony hadn’t noticed at first; choosing to amuse himself by picking is nose for a bit. In seeing his sister, here on the upper deck, he immediately stopped this and attempted to feign innocence. Of course, having already seen it, Twilight was only mildly disgusted. Instead, she was far happier to see her brother alive. Badly injured, but looking fine and happy. This brought an overwhelming sense of relief to her mind and body, which caused her to collapse before even taking a step forward. “Twi!” Luffy said. Worried, he attempted to get up. Quickly, Twilight stopped him. “I’m fine.” She told her brother. The mare remained on the floor, too weak to stand anymore, but she was smiling. After a moment, she looked up at her brother and said, “Hey Luffy…” “Yeah?” replied Luffy worriedly. “We won, right?” Luffy was surprised by the question. Though he thought it was odd, he nevertheless grinned for his sister and relaxed. “Yeah,” he said cheerfully, “we won.” Twilight sighed out with relief. “That’s good…” Immediately, the stallion snickered for a moment, believing his sister was being silly. Still, he was happy to see her after what he had seen her go through. The broken horn he could clearly see only helped in ingrain that fact further. So, he decided to express that happiness. “Twilight…” “Yeah?” Grinning happily, Luffy told her, “Thanks for coming back.” Now her turn to be surprised, Twilight hadn’t expected that. She nevertheless smiled as she responded back with, “No problem.” Then, they both began laughing; softly, lightly. Both sharing this moment of peace and calm with all their friends alive and with them. A lot had happen to them; a fantastical adventure, a win-or-lose game where their friends were the prize, a dispute among friends, and a high-drama and top-action rescue of their dear friend. Now, they could relax and laugh off those old troubles and disputes. Most of them, anyway. “Hey!” Now riding on Chopper’s shoulders, surprising in his Brain Point form, Luffy and the reindeer were looking around the boat. Searching for someone. Luffy soon shouted out, “Where are you, Usopp?” “Has anyone seen Usopp?” asked Chopper to everyone, worried. Now, most of the crew knew that Usopp was still very much with them. Only, he had again donned his Sogeking disguise. He did so to protect himself, his pride and ego mostly. Having boasted much and defended his pride shrewdly, he felt far too embarrassed to be with his friends. So, he had to ignore his friends’ calls. Fortunately, he himself gave an answer to the group on his whereabouts as Sogeking. “Don’t worry.” Sogeking/Usopp said confidently, and heroically toned. “He went ahead in a small boat.” While those like Luffy and Chopper, as well as Pinkie Pie and Spike, believed this lie, no one else did. In fact, most were pitying the stallion for doing so. It was a ridiculous sight, but none of them wished to out their friend. That said, those of Jack’s crew couldn’t make heads or tails as to what was going on. “Well,” Jack commented offhandedly, “it takes all kinds of crewmates, I guess.” Currently, Twilight was talking among the crew about what had happened after she had blacked out. She was astounded to learn that, somehow, the Going Merry had come to rescue them in the nick of time. More curious however, that there had been seemingly no one on board to have sailed her there in the first place. None of the crew figured on how that was possible. Many of them had even heard a voice telling them the Going Merry was there beneath them. But, Twilight had a thought. “Could it have been a Klabautermann?” She responded questioningly. “A clobber what?” Zoro said confused. “A Klabautermann.” Twilight repeated technical. “It’s a sort of spirit that inhabits ships and boats that are well-taken care of.” Curious, Franky spoke up, “You know about those?” He had also asked on behalf of the currently disguised Usopp, who had perked a little on recognition of the name. Replying to Franky’s question, Twilight nodded. “Yes,” she said, “I happened upon the term while reading a few sailing books. It’s regarded as a myth among sailors.” “Aye.” Jack and T-Cog stated knowingly and serious. This intrigued the crew. Nami thus followed up by asking, “Are you saying the Merry sailed herself to rescue us?” Twilight was hesitant at first to make such claim. “I’m not sure.” She admitted with uncertainty. “They mostly spoke about how it was a bad omen.” Sogeking/Usopp reacted immediately. “A bad omen, you say…” Rainbow Dash then asked, “Like, how bad?” Again, Twilight was hesitant to speak. “Well, it’s said that,” the young unicorn didn’t want to say the next part aloud, but simply had no choice with everyone looking at her, “that they only appear when the ship is doomed…” Everyone fell silent instantly. It was a clear fact that the Going Merry was in bad condition, before and even now after. No one would deny that; except for Usopp, but he was currently playing superhero. Though, maybe, they knew that he knew as well this fact. Nevertheless, it was still a hard truth to swallow for the original Straw Hats. Even an old pirate like Jack, who had remained quiet along with T-Cog (who was equally as old a pirate), knew of these fables was concerned for the wellbeing of this crew. They – all of them – only hoped that their ship would hold out. Meanwhile, on board the Golden Alicorn, one of Jack’s crew members residing in the crow’s nest spotted something ahead. Immediately, he called out for all to hear; thus, breaking the silence on the other ship. “Captain!” “Aye?” Jack replied loudly, looking up to his crewmate. “Ship ahead, Captain!” Everyone immediately tensed. Everyone shared the same thought; had the Black Navy sent more battleships after them? Without a moment to lose, everyone hurried over to the forward (front) of the Merry. Everyone soon saw that, not too far away, a large ship was indeed heading towards them. Much larger than the Golden Alicorn. However, to their surprise, it was not a Black Navy battleship. From the clear markings of its sails to the more friendly and jaunty appearance, this ship to this group was friend. Luffy called out excitedly, “It’s a Galley-La Company ship!” As their sailing vessels came closer, every pirate could hear the cheers and shouts coming from aboard this ship. For on this vessel, it seemed like every Galley-La employee had boarded and now trying to see the heroes of Water 7; the Straw Hat pirates. All of them astounded and amazed that these pirates had not only braved the fierce, high-tide phenomenon Agua Laguna; but also, take on one of the Black Empire’s top facilities and survive. None were more impressed than the leader of this company, Iceberg. Everyone aboard the Going Merry began waving and cheering back to large crowd. Getting such a grand welcome for pirates was something rare to see, after all. Though some, such as Franky and Robin, were more or less nervous towards Iceberg, who had been in the center of a conspiracy in which they both had parts in. And yet, it seemed the stallion had no ill will towards them; only a sense of amazement of their accomplishments. “You crazy lot.” The head of the Galley-La Company spoke impressed, “You really got back everything the Empire had taken.” It seemed like the hard times were over for the Straw Hats; unfortunately, time had yet one last and difficult task for them. For suddenly, there came a loud crack sound. The whole fore (forward/front) of the Going Merry broke and began falling. Everyone on the fore was caught by surprise, and quickly held on to the nearest support. Out of instinct, the Pegasi aboard quickly floated up to avoid any further complications. Luffy was unfortunate in that his support, Chopper, was unable to keep balance and thus he came tumbling down. As the fore fell, it soon stopped midway; having not yet broken completely off from the rest of the haul. “Merry!” shouted Sogeking/Usopp in shock. Everyone was in shock. Despite knowing the Merry was not in her best conditions, to suddenly break down now of all times was inconceivable. As such, Luffy began to panic, calling for the Galley-La workers to come help and fix the ship so dear to him and his crew. Unfortunately, there was nothing either the workers of Galley-La or Iceberg could do. “It’s time…” Iceberg told the pirates stoically, remaining the voice of reason for this near-hysterical captain. “It’s time to let her rest.” Then, the stallion closed his eyes pensively. “I’ve already done everything I can.” Despite his professional appearance, Iceberg understood more than most about this ship, the Going Merry. Perhaps even more than the crew itself. “What I’m looking at right now is a miracle.” Iceberg told the pirates honestly. “A miracle of a ship that has gone far beyond its limits.” “I’ve been a shipwright for many years, but I have never seen a pirate ship as incredible as this one. It must have lived a splendid life.” The Straw Hats on board remained silent. Despite not having a clear idea, they understood that this honorable stallion before them was telling nothing but the truth. To receive such a compliment was heartwarming; and yet, still very saddening. Even for the newer members, who had sailed on her for many days, could not fault the shipwright for his words. For once, Franky couldn’t help but agree with his former fellow student. This ship, the Going Merry, was incredible. Which only made the news all the harder to bear. Thus, Luffy solemnly responded back to the stallion, “I get it.” Carefully, all aboard the Going Merry boarded a long boat provided by the Galley-La Company. Only Funkfreed went aboard the Galley-La ship, not wanting to be a sword for any more longer. Those apart of the Golden Alicorn’s crew had returned to her and anchored right beside the Galley-La’s ship. Then, all aboard the two large ships watched on solemnly. Before them, the crew and last passengers of the Going Merry floated in place; facing the Going Merry one last time. Providing him with dingy and torch, the captain of the Going Merry Monkey D. Luffy floated over to his ship and dear friend. All watched his torch with baited breath. Luffy’s boat soon stopped only a foot away from the caravel-class ship. He stared at Merry for but a moment. He then asked, “Ready everyone?” One by one, they all gave the same answer. “Yeah.” Many of them loudly, attempting to be strong in this emotional moment. Others were far more stoic, accepting this fate of their ship. With all his crew’s consent, Luffy began. “Merry…” He then held the torch out. “The seafloor is dark and lonely so we’re going to see you off.” Finally, Luffy set the fire upon the ship. As he did, he commented aloud, “It’s a good thing Usopp isn’t here. He probably couldn’t handle this.” To that regard, Zoro spoke to Sogeking/Usopp, who stood next to him. “How about it?” Sogeking/Usopp stated solemnly “That’s not true. We must all part someday. This is a farewell between stallions. I mustn’t shed a single tear. Luffy himself is ready.” With the Going Merry now caught on fire, Luffy pushed his small boat away from the ship, but never looked away. He floated some way away until he now floated in front of the long boat his crew and friends stood upon. He then spoke, “You carried us for a long time, Going Merry. Thank you.” A sentiment all his crew shared, even the new members. Now, as everyone watched the fire slowly consume the small ship, something astonishing began to happen. The first to notice was Nami, who caught only the mere glimpse of it as it fell from the sky. She stuck out her hoof as she caught and recognized what she had caught. “Snow?” Yes, it began snowing; and yet, the temperature had not shifted. The clouds had come spontaneously. Even with her knack for predicting weather, Nami hadn’t noticed a single change in the air. All the bystanders began gawking with amazement at this rare sight. Never had anyone here seen snowfall come so suddenly. Not many could understand its significance, but there were some. Older ponies like Iceberg and Jack Silver understood its meaning, and they were speechless. For them, who had lived much longer than most that surrounded, to see that this small band of misfits could even inspire the heavens themselves to weep; it was unbelievable. For the Straw Hats though, even the newer ones, this snow meant so much more. For with each flake that fell, as the fires of their bond further spread themselves upon the Going Merry, each brought forth a memory. The best memories of the Going Merry. The day that Luffy had acquired her and also gained a new crewmate, Usopp. The amazement it brought to the fledgling crew to have their own ship. All the mishaps and fun they had with her as they discovered her capabilities as well as their own. Traveling up the Reverse Mountain to enter a brand new adventure beyond Equestria’s borders. The dangers they faced together with unyielding determination, strength, and teamwork. Heading for far off places to see new lands and meet new creatures. Soaring above all impossibilities to reach what was once consider myth and legend on nothing more than a hunch. And floating back down after saving an entire civilization from certain doom with a balloon octopus. Reuniting siblings and gaining new friends. Coming alive to battle the very embodiment of chaos itself. All of these, each crew member could recall to one degree or another. Each one weakening the fortitude many members had tried to enforce upon themselves. And yet, one by one, various crew members began to shed their tears. The first was Nami, soon followed was Chopper, practically a waterfall of emotions spilling out. Even the newcomers like Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Spike were crying as well. But though they cried, not a single one of them looked away from their ship – from their dear friend – the Going Merry. By this point, the fire had all but consumed the ship, and she was beginning to weaken. The haul broke in two, but never separated. The mast fell over; her sail and flag all burnt away. Slowly, she began to lose her size. Not due to sinking into the ocean, but being consumed by the blaze. It would only be mere moments before the Going Merry would be no more. I’m sorry Everyone gasped. Not just the Straw Hats, but all watching could hear a female voice speak. Again, even the old timers among their groups were completely speechless. I wanted to carry you all even farther… Hearing her, hearing Merry again, Sogeking/Usopp began crying. Though his earlier remark not forgotten, he could do nothing to cease the flow of tears he was shedding. It was all just too much for him. I’m sorry. I wanted to have adventures with you forever… Crying even more now, Chopper let out a cry in sorrow. “Merry!” But I… “We’re that ones who should say we’re sorry, Merry!” With this being their last chance to speak, Luffy cut off Merry. The young Earth pony let all his emotions out in both words and tears. To hear his ship – his friend – apologize for seemingly nothing was too much for even him to bear. “I’m no good at steering, so I ran you into icebergs! And I ruined your sails! And Zoro and Sanji are stupid, so they broke all kinds of stuff! And Usopp tried fix you every time, but he stinks at it!” “If anyone’s gotta apologize…” Luffy then fell to his knees. Like stone, it felt as if all their mistakes had piled upon him. Each one having been another nail in Merry’s coffin. He felt ashamed that, as captain, he could not have done better by his own ship thus lowering his head in disgrace. Any yet… But I was happy. Luffy lifted up his head. Even as she lay before them dying slowly, Merry bore no hatred for him or the crew. You always treated me well… Thank you. Now, though many were still not crying fully, there was not a dry eye on the long boat. Those like Rarity and Twilight Sparkle were now crying as well with the others. Rainbow Dash was trying to fight back her tears, but the flowed down very easily. Applejack hide her own tears by placing down her hat, yet there was no hiding these tears of sorrow. I…was always so happy! Zoro and Sanji remained to be the most stoic of the group, but even they couldn’t hide the added glistening coming from their eyes as provided by extra moisture. Robin had begun teared up. Though not having been a part of the group long, Franky was full on shedding his tears. Finally, even Kokoro and Chimney were both astounded and crying. All because of you! And then, the flames completely engulfed the Going Merry. Her angelic voice ceased to ring out further. Her once majestic form now disappearing behind the blaze. The Going Merry was gone. “MERRY!” TO BE CONTINUED…
