//------------------------------// // Ch 14: Memories flooded back // Story: Daughter of the Night // by PastelProse //------------------------------// Momo woke as she climbed outta her bed and ran to down the hall. She heard soft humming coming from the library and she walked in to find Sombra sitting in his chair reading his book. The sound of the little ones hooves clopping against the floor made Sombra peek over his book to see her standing in the doorway. “Good morning little one, how did you sleep?” He asked as he set the book down on the table. Momo just shrugged, “I slept fine. What about you?” He chuckled, “Do you think we should take you to the Crystal Empire to see if we can find out where you came from?” She shook her head, “I don’t remember if I have parents. But I feel like there is something I am missing. Someone I need to find.” She stomped her little hooves onto the ground, “And I won’t stop till I find it.” She smiled as she flapped her little wings and flew up to Sombra’s level. “Besides Mr. Sombra I wanna stay here with you. You are nice and you teach me stuff. Even though I can’t really use magic, it is still fun to learn about it.” Momo said as she floated back down to the ground. Sombra smiled as he pulled out a different spell book. “Well how about I teach you some more spells. Summons are always fun.” Momo nodded as she climbed into her lap. Despite this Stallion being somewhat of a stranger, she just felt like it was right hanging around him. He smiled at the enthusiastic filly as he opened the book and begun reaching to her the steps on how to perform the summons. Luna took deep breaths as she tried to reach out to Nightmare Moon. “Please Nightmare...p..please…” ‘Luna, I am afraid we do not have enough strength to reach out to them. I feel like our connection has been interrupted. But not due to our strength. There is something else blocking it.’ Luna teared up, “I’m a failure. I couldn’t even protect my own daughter. I even broke our promise.” Nightmare sighed ‘I have faith in her. She is growing after all.’ Luna’s head laid on the ground as she stared at the barrier. She heard the sound of hooves behind her. She ignored them. “Oh what Luna, not gonna acknowledge me?” Chrysalis asked. Luna just stared straight. “Oh was it because of that passionate kiss Sombra and I shared. Oh let me tell you dear Luna, it was amazing. His tongue is so powerful.” Chrysalis said as she made her way to the side of the barrier that Luna was staring at. She lowered her head and looked into Luna’s eyes. They were started to fade from their blue color to a light blue, almost grey. “Oh and that isn’t all we have done. We have shared a few passionate night…” Luna rose her head, “You lier!” “Oh no sweetheart it’s no lie. Let me tell you mmmmhhhmmm.” Chrysalis stated as she licked her lips. Luna growled, “Then where is your egg?” “No sweetie that isn’t how that works. I only lay eggs when I want to bear children.” She stated as she turned. She shot the wall with her horn to show pictures. “Oh look there Moonbeam is. Oh and look who is on the scene.” Chrysalis stated. Luna looked and saw Moonbeam was sitting in Sombra’s lap and he was reading to her. Her eyes widened at she looked to Chrysalis. “Does he know?” She asked meekly. “No he doesn’t, all he knows about this mission is that we are looking for your kid. That is all. He only knows that she is an alicorn filly named Moonbeam.” Chrysalis smiled. She used her magic and spoke outloud, “Bullseye?” Luna tilted her head as she heard the colts voice echo through the walls. “Yes?” “She is at Sombras house. Go there, take her, and bring her here.” Chrysalis said. “You got it.” He said before his voice faded away. Luna shook her head, “No...please...leave her alone.” Chrysalis got down to Luna’s level, “Your clock is ticking Luna. I don’t know if you will make it for her to even see you again.” Luna’s head flopped onto the ground. “Please Chrysalis...I will do anything…” Chrysalis got up and turned her back, “Too late.” There was a soft knock at Sombra’s door. He looked down at the sleeping filly in his lap. He gently got up and set her down in the chair. She fussed a little, but went back to napping peacefully in the chair. Sombra approached the door and peeked out the window. He opened the door to see Bullseye. “Chrysalis wants to see you.” He said. Sombra looked back at the sleeping filly and he nodded as he gently closed the door and locked it. Moonbeam felt something tugging at her and a faded voice in the background said. ‘Wake up. Wake up!’ Moonbeam got up as she wiped her eyes. She looked around to realize that Sombra wasn’t there anymore. She got up and made her way to the bathroom. She washed her face as she heard the voice coming in louder. ‘Can you hear me? Momo it’s me.’ Momo tilted her head as she stared at her reflection in the mirror, “Lily?” ‘You can hear me great!’ Lily cheered. “Where are you?” Momo asked as she looked around the room. ‘I think I’m in your head or something. I don’t know. I don’t feel like i have a physical being.” Lily stated. Momo looked at herself and just responded, “Well what’s up?” ‘Don’t you get the strange feeling that we were supposed to look for something?’ Lilith asked. Momo nodded, “Yes I do, but I can’t remember what.” Lily sighed, ‘You too huh? Man this sticks. I feel like it was really important too.’ “Oh wait. Lilly since you are here, why don’t I teach you some of the spells that Sombra taught me?” Momo asked. ‘Yeah, that could prove to be fun’ Lilly said. Momo raced to the library, “Oh but you won’t be able to see the picture will you?” ‘No, I can see.’ “Really?” She asked. ‘Yeah, somehow I’m looking through your eyes.’ Lilly said, ‘Turn your head.’ Momo did and Lilly saw something that caught both their eyes. ‘Hey Momo, that book with the dark blue cover. Is that a spell book?’ Momo shook her head as she slowly approached the book on the shelf. It was on a low shelf all by itself. It was laying on its side and the spine of the book read “Memories.” “I don’t think it is. But it says memories on it. Maybe these are Sombras memories.” Momo reached out for it but pulled her hoof back. ‘What’s wrong?’ Lilly asked. “What if I make Mr. Sombra mad. He has been such a great friend. I don’t wanna read this book if it’s personal.” Momo said. Lilly sighed, ‘Yeah, but can’t we just say that we were curious. He would forgive us, he has been nothing but awesome this whole time.’ Momo raised and eyebrow, “How did you know that.” ‘Everything you see, hear, say or do I’m right here. It’s weird and I can’t explain why but, it’s like we are connected somehow.’ Lilly said. Momo’s curiosity got the best of her because she was she grabbed the book. She had this nagging feeling that this book would help her. She dragged it to the chair and climbed into the chair holding the book. ‘Oh I’m excited, and nervous. I’m nervousited!’ Lilly cheered. “Why does that sound familiar?” Momo asked. ‘I don’t know, but open it already.’ Momo flipped to the first page and there were pictures of a colt Sombra. “Oh look he looks so angry in this picture.” Momo laughed. Lilly joined her. ‘Oh look at this one, he is in school. OMG he had braces!’ The girls laughed as she flipped to the next page. “Oh look he is in a suit. Who is that mare next to him?” Momo looked closer at the picture. She felt a small pounding start to happen in her head. “Lily what are you doing?” ‘Nothing, but I feel it too’ She whined. Momo flipped the page, the pain wasn’t that bad. She saw more pictures of him happily with a mare. This mare has a dark blue coat, wings and a horn. She had bright blue eyes and short blue hair. Momo flipped to the next page and the two were full grown. The Mare was nuzzled into Sombra. Momo’s pain was unbearable, her head pounded as she fell to the ground screaming. ‘We are gonna be okay Momo….OUCH!’ Lilly said before her voice faded. There was sound coming from the living room. Momo was holding the top of her head as the splitting headache grew. Momo felt something growing from underneath her mane. She could barely see past her tears as her eyes were cloudy. She saw the outline of a colt and heard a small voice past the loud ringing in her ears. “What’s Happening!”
