//------------------------------// // Blinded by the Light // Story: Rise of the Numbers // by goldenrise365 //------------------------------// After learning of possible threats to their world the day before, the guys decided to amp up their decks. "We'll need all the help we can get if we're going to face any evil," said Burst. When the guys made it to Discord's shops their was already someone inside. It was a guy about their age. He had white hair and yellow skin. He wore a white t-shirt, yellow jeans and white shoes. "Uh hi there." "Hello," said the stranger. He turned around and the guys saw who he was. "No way," said Inferno. "It can't be," said Shadow. "Are you...?" began Burst. "Blinded Light," said Gold. "The first blind duelist." Light smiled. "That's me. But you can call me Light. Also where can a guy get some sweets around here?" "Wow. Two famous guys in one day. That has to be a record," said Ace. ---------------------- The group arrived at Sugarcube Cube Corner. They were all talking about Light's past duels. But the atmosphere changed when they went inside. Derpy was at a table with a small shake, and a sour expression. Light was able to sense Derpy's feelings. He walked over and sat across from her. "Penny for your thoughts." "Just a little bummed is all," said Derpy without looking up. "Is it because you lost a duel and someone took your cards?" Derpy straightened up. "How did you know that?" "I can sense your feelings. It is mostly a feeling of rage towards those that have taken your cards." "Yes it is." Derpy began to tear up. Light reached forward and brushed a tear out of Derpy's eyes. "How about we make it right then?" "Uh Light," began Burst. "This isn't the first time something like this happened. There is a notorious student who steals people's deck after he beats them. He's also impossible to beat." "Good thing I don't believe in the word impossible." Light stood up. "Time to show this guy the power we have." Light reached out his hand to Derpy. "All of us." "But what can I do?" asked Derpy. "I think you'll know what to do." Light pulled up Derpy. "Let's go." "Right." --------------------- The group led Light to a spot behind the school. "That's far enough." A figure in a black cloak stepped out. "Looks like the fly is back in the spiders web." "How about you shut up tall, dark, and buggy?" said Light. "Why you little pest. How dare you speak to me that way." "Then how about we stop talking and start dueling?" "Fine." The figure activated his duel disk. "Try to give a monologue and this is what I get." "Just what I was hoping for." Light pulled out a small disk from his pocket. He placed it on his arm and it expanded into a full duel disk. "Time to see if the blind, can defeat the dark," said Gold. "Let's duel!" Light: 8000 Delinquent: 8000 "Since you have a disability, I'll let you go first." "Your going to regret saying that." Light drew his first card. "I'll start by revealing Infernity Archfiend in my hand. Now I can special summon it. A creature with grey skin, six eyes, goat horns and a blue and green robe appeared. "How could you tell what card you had?" asked the delinquent. "Yeah, how can you duel like this?" asked Burst. "Well it's simple really. I can read the different energies of each card. I learned a long time ago that each of my cards had a different energy signature. Thanks to their help, I found a way past my blindness. A way to bring hope to those that seem hopeless!" He pointed to his opponent. "And I promised to stop all oppressors! Even a small one like you!" "Are you quite done?" "With my speech yes. And I end my turn with two face downs." Light placed his two cards face down. "My move." The delinquent drew his card. "I activate the Spider's Web. Now for every monster and card on your side of the field, I get a Widow Token." Three spiders appeared on the delinquent's side of the field. "And you get the same number of Poison Tokens." Three purple drops appeared on Light's field. "Now you take 1000 damage for each token on the field." Each spider shot a web, and the poison droplets exploded. "AAAHHHHHHHHH!" Light: 2000 Delinquent: 8000 "You should've stayed away. I end my turn. And at the end of your turn, you will lose." "Then I better not lose. I draw." Light added the new card to his hand. "Just what I needed." "What do you mean?" "Just watch. I should thank you for the poison tokens." "Huh?!?" "Because now I can Synchro summon my best monster." The card in Light's hand turned into a green ring. Archfiend and the tokens turned into white lights. "Ever heard the phrase keeping an eye on you? Well how about a hundred?" A column of light exploded behind him. "I Synchro Summon, Hundred Eyes Dragon!" A black dragon came out of the light. A purple eye opened on its head. Then more eyes followed until all of its eyes were revealed. "Then I activate Revenge of the Infamous. When I have an Infernity monster in my graveyard, I can discard all cards in my hand and you take 1000 points of damage for each. So I discard two." A wind storm hit the delinquent. Light: 2000 Delinquent: 6000 "So what?" "So now I activate my dragon's effect. Since I have no cards in my hand, I can use the effect of one Infernity monster in my graveyard. Now thanks to Infernty Archfiend, I can get a random Infernity monster from my deck." Light drew his card. "I place one monster face down to end my turn." "What a wasted turn?" The delinquent drew his card. "I activate my Spider Web's effect!" "Just what I was hoping for." "What?!?" "I activate A Hundred Gazes. When Hundred Eyes Dragon is on my field and I have no cards in my hand. I can destroy one spell or trap. Say goodbye to your web." The card and tokens were destroyed. "NNNNOOOOOOOO!" "I guess people really hate having no internet." "Uh..... See ya." The delinquent threw his duel disk down and made a run for it, but Hundred Eyes grabbed him. "Aren't you forgetting something?" said Hundred. The delinquent reached into his coat and pulled out multiple deck boxes. "Here take them!" He freed himself. "I'm outta here!" Light picked up a grey deck box. Derpy ran up and gave him a hug. "Thank you for saving my cards." She gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Your my hero." Light blushed. "No... problem." "Well that's one crisis averted." Gold looked to the multiple deck boxes. "And a few duelist saved." Light walked up to the others. "I don't know about you guys, but stopping a bully has worked up my appetite." "Then let's go to Sugars Cube Corner," said Derpy. "Sounds good to me." Meanwhile, the dark figure was watching the entire duel. "That kid had an impressive duel. He can be of some use to me." The number 11 appeared on his neck. "Time for a transfer of cards."
