"A problem?" Twilight asked.
"Yes Twilight, I'm sure you all have noticed sudden periods of cold, and unseasonable snow mounds on occasion." Responded Celestia.
"Oh I remember that, I thought that was sugar!" Luffy shuddered.
"Word." Pinky agreed.
"But what could be causing it?" Twilight questioned. Snow shouldn't be happening this early, even with Hearths Warming Eve coming up."
"Maybe it's Discord, that guy is always pulling pranks!" Rainbow suggested.
"Who the hell is that?" Luffy asked.
"Now isn't the time!" Celestia raised her voice. "I know it is not Discord. You are right however, somepony IS making this happen. The magic associated with it is so familiar, I know the magic but not the pony, it is like I can't remember him nor his actions. Whatever the case is, this unseasonable weather has caused an Ursa Major to appear nearby Evergreen forest to fatten up for an early hibernation. I can't have it threatening Ponyville, which is why I need you 7 to subdue it before it attacks somepony.
"7?" Questioned Rainbow. "Look I guess that stretching ability is pretty cool, but what can he do to help?"
"Oh I'm sure there is more to him than meets the eye." Celestia said with a smirk.
"If you say so." Rainbow reluctantly accepted.
"Alright guys we have an Ursa Major to subdue."
As they left for Evergreen Forest none had taken notice of a cloud face that seemed to watch them.
At the entrance to Evergreen Forest things got a little tense between Luffy and the Mane 6. "Uh guys I think I should stay here." Fluttershy suggested, obviously afraid of going up against a Ursa Major.
"Aww come on Fluttershy, you stared down a dragon one time!" Rainbow tried egging her on.
"Yes bu-but dragons are a few houses big. An Ursa Major is hundreds of meters tall!"
"C'mon don't be a chicken! It'shouldn't just a giant bear!" Luffy shouted getting annoyed.
"Luffy!" Twilight said his name dissaprovingly and turned to Fluttershy. "Fluttershy it is alright, we will be here for you, for each other."
Fluttershy still didn't budge. Luffy sighed in dissapointment, and let his blunt side take over yet again. "Man I didn't know you were this much of a scaredy-cat. He said wearing a friendly smile. I don't think I like you anymore." Everypony felt a chill through them when he said this.
Fluttershy was on the verge of crying. Wh-wh-why would you say something like that?!"
"You have all these powerful friends at your side, and despite all you have been been through, you're too scared to face a bear? That's so cowardly." Fluttershy was crying by this point.
Applejack seeing this got in Luffy's face. "Just what in the hay is yer problem? How could you say something so mean?"
"I don't like cowards." Luffy responded almost deadpan.
"And would you mind telling me how you'd feel against a beast hundreds of meters tall?" Applejack asked.
"Food."
"Food?" Everypony questioned. "This guy thinks an Ursa Major is Food? He really is insane!"
"Are you mad?" Rainbow questioned. "Have you even seen an Ursa Major?"
"I've seen a zombie giant before." Luffy responded, recalling the time he and his crew fought Oars.
"Oh Fluttershy don't listen to Luffy, you've tamed dozens of dangerous creatures before! You're far from a coward." Rarity was attempting to confort Fluttershy.
"Look everypony we can deal with Luffy's outburst later, right now we have an Ursa Major to stop. Twilight by this point decided to speak up. "If it's foraging for food then it will leave behind a trail, if there is a trail we can follow it to it's cave. Considering how long it took us to get to Canterlot and back, it is pretty late, so it is safe to assume that the Ursa Major has either returned to it's cave, or is returning to it. We have to find it, subdue it, and relocate it somewhere else.
"Oh, alright Twilight you're right we can't get distracted. Applejack agreed before turning to Luffy. "But we ain't done talking about this." Luffy merely grunted, hardly paying attention.
It took hours to find the trail, and cave. Fluttershy came along but only after being convinced that Luffy was just sputtering nonsense. The entrance was massive and foreboding, Luffy being Luffy simple gazed at it in wonder. "Oh wow cool! This place is huge!" He shouted.
"Luffy! Shush" Twilight warned. "If the Ursa Major really is in there we have to come up with a plan! Ok Rainbow Dash you need to- WAIT! Luffy don't!" Luffy was already charging into the cave.
"YAAAHH! Alright you big dumb jerk where are y-" *SMACK* In the dark cave Luffy couldn't see anything, and ran right into the sleeping beast's head, awakening it. Moments later Luffy was knocked out of the cave. "Hey watch the hat you jerk!"
"That idiot's going to get us killed!" Everypony thought to themselves.
*THUD* *THUD* *THUD* The ground shook as the monstrosity crawled out of it's cave, furious at being awoken it made a terrifying roar. "Man this guy must be twice as big as Oars, too bad he isn't as strong." Luffy said putting his hooves escaping together. The Ursa Major attempted to swipe at Luffy who flipped out of the way.
"Rainbow! push it backwards, Applejack make a trip rope with your lasso. I'll use a paralysis spell once it's down!" Twilight yelled out.
"Got it Twi!" Applejack said, and within seconds had the rope secure.
"Alright you pest eat this!" Rainbow charged at full force, skillfully dodging a swipe from the Ursa Major and rammed into it knocking it backwards into Applejack's trip rope. Unfortunately before Twilight could do anything the Ursa Major had risen and took a swipe at Rainbow. Although she dodged the paw it came too close, and the air pressure swiped her to the ground. Fluttershy up until now was shaking, at least until she saw Rainbow get swatted to the ground.
Fluttershy was furious at this. "You! Big! Jerk! Nopony hurts my friends. Fluttershy flew right up to the the Ursa Major's face with the stare on full blast. Even the Ursa Major faltered, if only for a few seconds before regaining composure and trying to swipe her with it's paw.
"Oh no! Fluttershy!" Her friends cried out.
"Gomu Gomu no Pistol!" Right when Fluttershy thought it was all over she heard a shout, and saw a leg meet the Ursa Major's chest, knocking it backwards, and leaving an imprint. Before the Ursa Major could attempt another attack, the hoof grabbed Fluttershy as it snapped back to it's owner. It was Luffy.
"Th-thank yo-" She began, only for Luffy to interrupt her.
"You know something? I was wrong about you. You aren't a coward, otherwise you would have left your friends when this thing showed up. You even stood up to it, that was awesome! Shishishishi! I think I like you again!" He said with a big grin Fluttershy could keep from blushing at this. "I still think you're a scaredy-cat though." He said teasingly. Everypony couldn't help but give off a tiny smile at this.
*ROAR* The Ursa Major was at it's peak anger, by this point it had enough, and slammed it's foot at the last person to attack it: Luffy. "Oh crap!" Luffy started. "Fluttershy get out of-" He was inturrupted by Fluttershy attempting to push him out of the way, but it by that point it was to late, and the foot was upon them. *SMASH*
"FLUTTERSHY!" "LUFFY!" Everylony called out to them. Twilight and her friends were horrified at the sight of their flattened friends. Luffy being resistant to blunt force, took little damage save for an stab wound to his side were one of the claws hit him. Thankfully it had hit no major veins, artieries, or organs, though he was bleeding decently. Fluttershy on the other hand wasn't so lucky. She didn't have Luffy's resistance to blunt force, and took tremendous damage wjth multible broken bones, and damaged tissue.
Twilight was growing angry at the sight of her friends, and nearly unleashed a full power blast when she saw something starting. It was Luffy. "L-Luffy! You're alright!" No response. Luffy just held a gentle hoof on Fluttershy's head with a scowl. This was off to Twilight; not only was he mostly unhurt, but his demeanor was completely different from before. "You're hurt." Still nothing. Luffy's only responce was an quick glare to the Ursa Major before darting his eyes back to Fluttershy. This came as a striking change to Twilight and her friends. They had seen him get angry and annoyed before, but this was different. There wasn't any yelling or casual banter, just a cold glare that seemed to get bigger, and frankly they found it terrifying. He took off his hat, something he told Fluttershy to never touch, and placed it on her head before turning to the Ursa Major.
"Woah woah hold it!" Rainbow trked deterring him away. "You're not actuality planning on fighting that thing the way you are NOW are you?!" Luffy ignored her, and continued glaring at the Ursa Major.
"Luffy were're all upset." Twilight reasoned. "But in you're conditio-" She stopped when she saw him stand on his hind legs, put them in a strange placement, and made them expand and contract. His coloration grew slightly pink, blood spilled out of his wound, and steam came from his body. "What did you do to yourself?"
Luffy didn't speak a word. In an instant he dissapeared and reappeared in front of the Ursa Major, 1 leg held out, and the other reeled in backwards. The beast grunted in shock. Luffy let out an animalistic growl before smashing it in the face with a wordless jet pistol. The sheer force was enough to knock out one of it's tusks, and send the beast tumbling backwards crushing it's own cave in the process.
The rest of the Mane 6 were in shock at what they just saw. Luffy landed a few meters in fro t of the Ursa Major, and let Gear 2nd die out. Rainbow tackled him in excitement. "That was amazing! How'd you do that? What was with that smoke?!"
Pinky spoke up next. "Yeah we were all 'Oh no they got crushed!' But then you were like 'I'm gonna glare at you, and punch your face!" She said while bouncing around.
Luffy replied that it was nothing, and went over to check on Fluttershy. "Nothing? Twilight thought. "He takes down one of the most feared creatures in Evertree Forest, and he calls it nothing?"
Luffy picked up Fluttershy, and held his hoof near her neck, feeling for an pulse, still frowning. Applejack came up and put an hoof on his back. "You ok there sugarcube? Whoa! What happened too you?" She immediately retracted her leg. Yah feel like you just came out of an oven!"
Luffy kept his frown before breaking into a smile, having found a pulse. "Ah! She is alive! Thank goodness!"
"You ain't exactly in the best condition yourself there Luffy." Applejack said.
"Yes especially your clothes darling, they're tattered, and bloody." Rarity noted.
"You both need to get to an hospital. You're bodies have taken serious damage!" Twilight warned.
"I don't care about my body right now! Just make sure Fluttershy is safe!"
It was 3 and a half weeks before Fluttershy recovered. She woke up in blinding lights and saw her 6 friends, before finding herself in hug. It was Luffy, who had heavy bandaging around his where the Ursa Majora clawed him. "You're ok! I thought you were a goner!" She found herself blushing heavily.
"Aw give her some room Luffy!" A certain cowpony told Luffy. "You've been sitting there watching her ever since we got here. Ya only ever left a few times."
"We have to hurry we're throwing you a recovery party, and even the princesses are gonna be there!" Pinky said.
"But what happened to the Ursa Major? You guys didn't hurt it did you?" Asked Fluttershy. Luffy in responce put on his horrible poker face.
"It's ok." Assured Twilight. "We relocated it to a sanctuary." She said as they neared the entrance.
"Oh! Yosh! That reminds me I have someone who wants to say hi to you. Luffy proceeded to inhale and yelled out. "LUFFEN! GET OVER HERE!"
"Luffen?" Asked the group? Who is...that? They felt a rumbling, and gaped at the sight before them. "LUFFY!" They all shouted.
