Twilight read her book as the party went on, "Hey Twilight what are you reading?"
Twilight looked up, "Oh Moon Dancer, I'm reading 'The myths and legends of Equestria' the princess said that I should give it a read."
Moon Dancer looked at the book, "Odd why would your teacher want you to read fairytales?" Twilight laughed, "Well a lot of these myths and legends are true because they are based off true events." She read one legend and her eyes started to widen when she read more of it.
"Moon Dancer you won't mind if I leave early right?"
She tilted her head, "Sure I won't mind but why do you want to leave early?"
Twilight grabbed Spike with her magic, "Oh there is something in one of these legends I want to look up." She ran off towards her library, she looked through her books before finding the one she wanted, she read it quickly and looked at Spike, "Spike I want you to take a letter." He took out a scroll, quill, and started to write.
"My dearest teacher, my continuing studies of pony magic have led me to discover that we are on the precipice of disaster!"
Spike stopped, "Hold on. Preci... preci..."
She looked at him, "Threshold."
He tried again, "Threh..."
She tried to use an easier word, "Uh, brink?" He gave her a look, "Ugh, that something really bad is about to happen! For you see, the mythical Mare in the Moon is in fact Nightmare Moon, and she's about to return to Equestria, and bring with her eternal night!"
"Something must be done to make sure this terrible prophecy does not come true. I await your quick response. Your faithful student, Twilight Amethyst Sparkle."
He finished, "Twilight Amethyst Sparkle, got it."
Twi smiled, "Great, send it."
"Um now?"
"Of course."
"Uh, I dunno, Twilight, Celestia's a little busy getting ready for the Summer Sun Celebration, and it's like, the day after tomorrow."
"That's just it, Spike. The day after tomorrow is the thousandth year of the Summer Sun Celebration!"
"It's imperative that the Princess is told right away!"
"Impera... impera..."
Twi got annoyed, "Important!"
Spike flinched back, "Whoa, okay okay." He breathed his green fire, and sent the letter, "There, it's on its way. But I wouldn't hold your breath..."
"Oh, I'm not worried, Spike. The Princess trusts me completely, in all the years she's been my mentor she's never once doubted me." When Spike belched out a letter, Twi huffed out blue fire, "You see? I knew she would want to take immediate action."
Spike took the letter and read it, "My dearest, most faithful student Twilight Amethyst Sparkle, you know that I value your diligence and that I trust you completely." Twi nodded happily. "But you must really get out more."
Twi gasped, "What?"
They got on a flying carriage as Spike read the rest of the letter, "My dear Twilight, there is more to a young hybrid's life than studying, so I'm sending you to supervise the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration in this year's location: Ponyville."
"And, I have an even more essential task for you to complete: make some friends!"
Twi huffed out more blue fire, "I don't see why I have to make friends in ponyville, I had friends in Canterlot."
"Oh really? What are their names?"
"Moon Dancer... um..."
"Yeah, that's what I thought." She sighed. "Look on the bright side, Twilight, the Princess arranged for you to stay in a library, doesn't that make you happy?"
"Yes it does, you want to know why? Because I'm right!"
"I'll check on the preparations as fast as I can, then get to the library to find some proof of Nightmare Moon's return."
"Then when will you make friends, like what the princess said?"
"She said to check on preparations. I am her student, and I'll do my royal duty, but the fate of Equestria does not rest on me making friends." The carriage landed, Spike and Twi got out, "Thank you, sirs." She said to the flying guards.
"Maybe the ponies here will be a lot nicer than the ones in Canterlot."
A pink pony was hopping along. "Come on Twi, just try."
Twi smiled at her, "Um, hello." The pink pony gasped when she saw them, then ran off. "Well that's a new response, I usually get screams before they ran off."
He sighed, then read off the list, "Summer Sun Celebration official overseer's checklist. Number one, banquet preparations: Sweet Apple Acres." They made it there before they heard a yeehaw and saw an earth pony bucking some trees.
"Let's just get this over with... good afternoon, my name is Twilight Amethyst Sparkle."
The earth pony looked at her, then grabbed her claw and tried to shake it, "Well, howdy-do, Miss Twilight, a pleasure makin' your acquaintance, I'm Applejack." Applejack was very strong to get her to shake even once, "We here at Sweet Apple Acres sure do like making new friends!"
Twi looked at Applejack for a moment, "You can go ahead and start screaming."
"Why would I scream sugar cube?"
Twi just stared, "Do you need glasses Applejack?"
"Nope I don't, why?"
Twi's dragon tail moved, "Oh it's just that you are talking to me normally, as if I was a normal unicorn."
AJ laughed, "Oh is that why you asked? We apples don't judge others on appearance, now what can I do you for?"
Twi smiled a bit, "Well, I am in fact here to supervise preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration, and you're in charge of the food?"
"We sure as sugar are! Would you care to sample some?"
"Well as long as it doesn't take too long..."
AJ rang a triangle, "Soup's on, everypony!" A bunch of ponies ran towards her making her move with them, she blinked as she found herself at a table. "Now, why don't I introduce y'all to the Apple family?"
"But I'm in kind of a hurry..."
"This here's Apple Fritter, Apple Bumpkin, Red Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Caramel Apple, Apple Strudel, Apple Tart, Baked Apples, Apple Brioche, Apple Cinnamon Crisp..."
AJ took a deep breath, "Big McIntosh, Apple Bloom and Granny Smith. Up'n'attem, Granny Smith, we got guests."
"Wha..? Soup's on? I'm up, here I come, ahm comin'..."
"Why, I'd say you're already part of the family!"
Twi laughed nervously, "Well I can see the food situation is handled, so we'll be on our way."
"Aren't you gonna stay for brunch?" Apple Bloom asked looking all cute.
"Sorry but we really have a lot to do..." Twi heard a lot of disappointed sighs, "Fine." As they cheered Twi just sighed.
