Mother And Son Adventures

Awkward family reunion

Princess Celestia was a very patient mare, loving and caring, yet firm when it was necessary and had done many things she was not proud of after her parents passed. She, alongside her sister, had fought all sorts of creatures threatening their kingdom, such as the Changeling army, Lord Tirek, King Sombra, and even Discord, the god of chaos himself.

She had witness many, many things in her very long life of one thousand and twenty one years, and yet she forced herself to hold back a verbal sigh and had to keep her own hooves from slamming into her face, silently wondering if it would be worth it, just this once, to release Discord from his stone prison.

This day had to be one of the most single awkward things in her entire life, and considering everything she had been through, that meant a lot.

She was no goddess as many of her little ponies thought, she was no demigod either. She just came from a race that lived for a total of eight thousand years, until disease or fatal wounds struck, combining pegasi, earth pony and unicorns respectfully and even still, other races lived far longer, such as dragons and phoenixes and gods such as Discord.

Tartarus, even Philomena was older than both her and Luna combined, a family pet given to her by her father, and yet it didn’t matter to Celestia that Philomena was older.

Breathing very slowly and taking a small cup of tea with mint and lemon grasped in her magic, she brought it to her lips and took a small sip to disperse the extremely awkward silence in the dining room with her son and her sister, the Alicorn of the moon, the mare of dreams and co-ruler of Equestria, the one who was once Nightmare Moon herself and banished for the simple notion of jealousy.

Spike the dragon was only twelve years old, he was very intelligent, corny with lame jokes at times, had insecure issues about himself, and knew very little of his own race. He was handsome, even though he was young and had photographic memory, and on some days, he could become selfish and greedy and was playful and engaging with other. Heck, he even had an ancient dragon code which he took very seriously, as was told by Celestia herself .

He was a member of the royal family, Celestia’s own adopted child, prince to Equestria and when he turned twenty one, he would become king to the nation itself.

Responsibility, learning numerous languages, customs, races and many, many, many request from the ponies he would one day lead would one day be the norm for him along with facing very dangerous enemies such as his family had done before him in order to protect his kingdom, but at this moment, Celestia wanted nothing more than for him to be a normal dragon and to keep a careful eye over his older adopted sister, Twilight Sparkle.

And as such with being a kid the very first words out of his mouth upon looking at his aunt for the first time was “So you’re not going to go insane again and kill us all or something, right?”.

Spike the dragon!” Celestia screamed at the small drake who was currently eating a large chocolate chip muffin with his mouth full as the cobalt Alicorn blushed as she covered her face with her wing, ignoring the steaming hot tea in front of her before removing her wing and clearing her throat.

“Tis alright, dear sister. We do not expect to be forgiven so quickly after all we have done during our return.” Luna stuttered slowly, looking around the large, hoof crafted ancient room nervously to keep her eyes away from the small dragon across from her.

As Celestia glared at Spike for his rude comment, the dragon only smiled at her sheepishly with his claw rubbing the back of his head, worried that his mother would get up and spank his butt, nervously waving his tail under the table as Celestia kept her gaze for a few seconds more before she sighed loudly, already wanting to see if she could secretly get her hooves on alcohol.

“So...you are our nephew, young Spike? We would have never thought our sister could have accepted a dragon as-”

“Oh, Spike is not my flesh and blood. Merely adopted, hatched by a young student of mine but when I first laid eyes on him, I knew I could not give him to the Dragonlands like we’ve done before our...fight.” Celestia corrected looking at her sister who turned her head, confusion etched on her face.

“But we have been hatching eggs and giving them to the Dragonlands for centuries, even before we were given the crowns to keep from-”

“That will be explained another time, dear sister. I’d rather not speak of this in front of Spike.” Celestia interrupted, sharpy making the young Alicorn blink then glance at the young reptile drowning a large glass of milk in his short claws as Luna could only look back at her sister and nod slowly.

The two Alicorns were silent watching Spike drink until the glass was empty and he put it down on the enormous, beautifully detailed table, panting loudly as he did nothing but breathe then without even questioning what his family was talking about, grabbed the rest of his muffin and threw it into his mouth.

Other than the loud, obnoxious chewing and breathing it became even more awkward between the two sisters who sipped their tea until it was empty, before Celestia lifted her head and summoned a unicorn servant who refilled their cups without a word, grabbing Spike’s empty plate and glass in his magic without a word before trotting away.

Smacking his lips, Spike settled comfortably in the chair that towered him in height as he laid his claws on his stomach and yawned.

“Awesome, another member of the family. I can’t wait to get to know you Aunt…” He paused as he let out another large, razor sharp filled teeth yawn and slowly blinked.

“Luna...maybe you could tell me a story and we can go star gazing and eat ice cream, and you can see Canterlot, and...and-” He cut himself off as he closed his eyes and fell asleep, right in the middle of his own conversion and before two royal Alicorns and seven servants, a few including Celestia smiled as they watched him snore before finally nodding to one of her guards who gently took the baby dragon in a glow of white magic who carried him over to both princesses making Celestia kiss his forehead softly as Luna with a moment of hesitation kissed his cheek before Spike was carried to Celestia’s bedroom, out of sight to them.

Luna sighed loudly, glancing down at her tea nervously rubbing her foreleg with a hoof before looking up at her older sister who had a large, exhausted smile on her face before she asked a earth pony servant over and whispered into her ear, making the mare nod and trotting away as Celestia let out a loud sigh.

“Sister...perhaps it’s finally time we reconcile.” She spoke softly as the mare came back and brought a large bottle of wine in between her teeth carefully, setting it between the two of them along with wine glasses as Luna laughed and gave her a small smile.

“For once Tia, that’s something we can agree with.” She spoke confidently and Celestia opened the bottle, pouring the alcohol to a quarter of the brim as the two took a single glass in both their respective magic and clanked it together, finally after one thousand years apart, the two sisters connected more than they ever had before.
