It took a bit longer to revive Sunset this time, but after using multiple high level reviving spells Twilight finally managed to bring Sunset back from Death's door, which made her ecstatic and the Pony of Death highly pissed off. "Sunset are you ok? I am sorry about blurting that out so suddenly, for once I spoke without thinking and I hope you can forgive me....dear..."
Sunset was still stunned but for the sake of Twilight's piece of mind she forced herself to speak. "Ok...honey..., I forgive you so don't fret over it. I am just curious as to how you found out to the return of Nightmare Moon."
"Oh, well I love to study the stars in Luna's sky and recently I discovered something odd, small parts of the sky have gone dark."
"So?" Sunset said in an outward curious tone, but was mentally cursing herself for sending Twilight into lecture mode. "Luna told me that stars burn out and she makes new ones to replace them, so what is the big deal?"
"That's just it Sunset, the stars are still there but their light is being blocked, I would have to guess about 5% is covered and it is spreading. The reason nopony has noticed is because the sky is so huge. At first I thought it was Princess Luna about to do a star cycle but when I confronted her about it, she called for the immediate activation of her guard, drafted me on the spot, and launched a private investigation with me. She went as far to make me Pinkie Promise not to tell Princess Celestia because Luna knew Celestia wouldn't believe her. Look, I love and admire Celestia like a teacher and mother, but when a pony is in the wrong they are in the wrong so I have to side with Luna. Shall we get back to the restaurant to continue our.."date" of sorts?"
"Sounds good to me Twilly. So tell me, just how close did you get to Luna during your investigation? I bet she made you shout "supernova" on more than one occasion." Sunset said with a smirk and a wiggle of her eyebrows, causing Twilight's face turned cotton candy pink so she continued. "Twily, Twily you're my star, how I wonder how wet you are. Hearing your voice is my cry, now watch as I cum on your eye. Twily, Twily you're my star, now look how soaked you are." Twi's whole face was now the same color as Pinkie's, her wings flared, and jaw chopping at air. "What's wrong Twi?"
"That....that actually happened..." In an instant, Sunset froze in complete shell shock before Twi giggled. "I was just teasing, it didn't happen...not in real life anyway..oh the things I did to her..."
"Wait what was the last part?" Sunset asked snapping back to her senses. "I didn't quite hear what you said."
"Nothing major now let's go." Twilight said ending the awkwardness and then teleported them back to the restaurant, where they spent the rest of the impromptu date answering questions for the reporters. When night came, Twilight joined up with Sunset, Rainbow, and Pinkie in Luna's observatory.
"Glad you could join us Twilight and congrats about you and Sunset, now to get straight to business...now 12% of my sky is covered and is spreading at an exponential rate." Luna's tone carried the weight of her words before turning to the Dashes. "How are the troops coming along?"
"They could kick the tar out of Tirek himself." Pinkie answered with a small salute. "However I do propose a little trap, since Sunset just recently arrived...."
Sunset immediately caught on to what Pinkie was going at. "Me? Take on Nightmare Moon? Have you lost your mind Pinkie, I go through enough trouble on Earth fighting Midnight Sparkle. Keep in mind there I am an Alicorn and here I am a unicorn."
"Perhaps you can unlock it with Celestia's help," Rainbow said joining the conversation. "after all, you and the other Rainbooms said you had found some new magic. Seems to me that is the perfect "ace-up-the-fetlock" we need to catch Nightmare off guard."
"Except she will pick up my magic signature the moment I go Alicorn........" Sunset shrugged, leaving Rainbow with no comeback. "Don't get me wrong, it would be a good counteroffensive under most circumstances, but we are dealing with something that took over Luna here." She then turned to the night ruler. "Please forgive me your highness, but I think that the best choice we have right now is to sit and wait so she can make the first move. She was once part of you so you know how she thinks, she is smart, cunning, and can deal massive amounts of damage. Concidering she is her own entity now, there is little doubt in my mind that says her powers are getting stronger since she is blocking out portions of the sky."
Luna nodded. "Your point carries some weight and is noted, you are forgiven and please continue."
Sunset replied as she bowed. "Thank you your highness, so now the plan is how to atleast attempt to have a defense for Nightmare Moon's magic, does anypony have a solution that does not involve the Elements of Harmony?"
Twilight, who was using a wing to rub her chin, spoke up. "I have something in mind, surely there must be some kind of magical artifacts in the Canterlot Vaults tan we could use." Everypony gulped as her eyes gained a certain sparkle to them, one that without a shadow of doubt would lead to tests that would make the average pony pack their cart and head for the hills. "So shall we go?" The others nodded and in a flash of navy, Luna teleported them out the room.
