Chapter 7: Snow Day

Chapter 7: Snow Day

A few days passed and winter was finally here. I Rainbow and I decided to move in together sometime. I had really thought about it for a while and decided it would make a pretty good present. It was the day before Hearth's Warming Eve afterall.

I watched the snow fall and cover the roads outside. The morning was cold and bitter. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a pot, filled it with water, and pit it on the stove. I grabbed the hot chocolate powder and poured it into a cup. The water began to boil and I poured it into the cup and mixed it. I sipped the hot coco and stood at my window. After finishing the coco, I placed the cup in the sink. I watched the snow fall for a while and decided to head out to get some food for the house. I grabbed my bags and threw a scarf around my neck. I walked outside and shivered in the cold, then began to trot to the market district. The ponies were having fun in the snow together. One family in particular caught my eye. The father and mother were making a snow-pony. Just seeing them happily spending their time together warmed my heart. I hoped someday that Rainbow and I would have a family someday. I smiled and started to walk to the food stalls outside. I bought some apples and bread. Then I saw Aerohead shopping with Rarity. I decided to leave them be, because they seemed to be enjoying themselves. I stopped at a jewelry shop and stepped inside. I looked around and saw a necklace that was shaped like Rainbow's cutie-mark. I picked it up and held it up. I watched it shine in the light, and I knew this would be perfect for her. I brought it up to the jeweler and set it on the desk in front of him.

"Ah, yes. This is 600 bits. Shall I wrap it for you?" He said pulling out a rod of colorful wrapping paper.

"That will be fine." I reached into my bag and pulled out the bits. I set them on the table and he began to wrap the small box. He handed me the gift and I stuck it deep in my bags. Snow began to fall again and the little foals and fillies played out in the snow. I made my way back home and hid Rainbow's gift. I put the food in the pantry and sat on the couch. The fire had began to warm the room again and I looked out the window and watched it sprinkle down on the roads. Some ponies from the weather patrol were plowing the roads, clearing the snow for the other ponies to get around easier. I watched them trot through the snow with smiles on their faces. They seemed so happy to be working on the day before Hearth's Warming, and I didn't quite understand why. Rainbow trotted through the snow towards my house and I opened the door for her. She had a big smile on her face.

"Why so happy, Dash?" I laughed.

"I just had a good time in town today with the girls." She responded.

"Would you like to join me in the snow?" I asked, looping a scarf around my neck.

"Ok!" She turned back towards me with excitement. "I mean, uh, sure... Why not." She said, now calming her attitude.

"How does a snow-pony sound to you?" I asked opening the door.

"Sure!" she said in her childish way she responded in before. I chuckled and we left out the door.

We trotted outside and and I began to roll snow into a big pile. The ball became pretty decent sized and I rolled it to the front of the house. Rainbow was making a medium sized one for the body. She picked it up and flew it to the larger ball and places it ontop. Finally I rolled the head and placed it onto the torso.

"Hang on." I said sprinting back Inside the house. I grabbed a carrot and a hat. Rainbow was putting rock buttons and eyes on it and I finished it with the hat and carrot. We stood in front of our masterpiece and we gave each other a brief kiss on the lips.

Dash suddenly flew away and landed behind a nearby pile of snow. She ducked her head behind it and I stood there wondering what she was doing. I stepped closer and Dash sprung up from the snow barricade with snow-balls in her hoof. My eyes shot open as I saw her bring one of her hooves behind her head.

"Oh cra-" I muttered as she pelted my face with a snow-ball. The rough snow turned to powder as it collided with my face. I laughed and cleared my eye of the freezing cold snow.

"You're gonna get it now, Dashie!" I yelled scooping up a hoof of snow.

I brought my hoof back and threw the snow at her. She turned and the snow pelted her back. She let out a small giggle and turned back towards me. My jaw dropped as she began to dip her hooves into the snow and throwing them at me. She had suddenly become a mini-gun that shot snowballs and an amazing rate. I sprinted and slid behind another pile of snow to shield me. I popped my head out just enough to see where she was. A smile grew on my face when I saw she was under the snow-covered tree. I looked around and picked up a rock. I jumped up and launched the rock at the tree. Once it collided with the bark, the snow on the branches shook and begin to fall. She looked up and saw the blanket of snow land on her. I fell in the cold snow and began to laugh.

"How was that Dash?" I said in triumph of my victory.

"You okay Dash?" I said still chuckling.

No response.

"Dash... Dashie?" I said, now concerned.

"Rainbow Dash!" I yelled, sprinting towards the large pile of snow.

"Hang on Dashie!" I yelled scooping up large portions of snow.

I kept digging and it had already been too long for any pony to resist this much cold. Water begun to fill my eyes and warmed my cheek as it rolled down. Suddenly Rainbow sprung out from under me and pulled me into a hug.

"Gotcha!" she said laughing. Suddenly she stopped and her face filled with concern. "Why are you crying?"

"Never mind that..." I said reaching up and hugging her. She was freezing cold and I felt her shivering.

"How about we head back inside, Dash?" I asked laying back down in the snow.

"Sounds good to me, Breeze." She said hopping off me.

Back inside the house, I poured some hot chocolate into two cups and gave one to Dash. We sat on the floor and watched the fireplace burn away the wood. I loved being with Dash, and I wanted to spend forever with her, I didn't like leaving her side. Rainbow and I stayed up and talked about our future together. One day we will move in with one another. Either I lived in her cloud home, or she stayed with me on the ground. One day, we'll make the decision. I noticed that Rainbow had fallen asleep on my lap. I blew the last embers out of the fire and carried Dash upstairs to my bed. I climbed in with her and we fell asleep together in the warmth of each other's hooves.

>Author's Note:
I don't think that I am getting Rainbow's personality right. Anyone else think this too? Please tell me if I'm doing things wrong! I know grammar and spelling can be a bit messed up, but that is fixable. Getting the traits of a character is a big screw up for me. To those people who wanted a clop scene, I'm very sorry. I am horrible at writing clop and will try my best to learn how to write it better in the future.
