Amethyst went to check on Fluttershy again. She didn't see her at the fireplace, so she looked around. Amethyst turned her head and saw the tip of Fluttershy's tail up the stairs. She softly tip-hoofed up the stairs and saw Discord kissing love letters, with Fluttershy crying!
My conclusions were correct! This must not be the real Discord! Amethyst thought. Oh no, is, is Fluttershy accepting this?
"Muah!" What about all the things we did to-" "Muah!" "gether.."
Amethyst bit her tongue to not gasp in shock. Discord interrupted her, was rude to her, and above all, he CHEATED ON HER!
"Muah!" "I, I cant believe it,"
"Muah!" "You would cheat on me..."
"Muah!" "And I cant do anything about it..." Amethyst almost teared up, because of Fluttershy's voice crack, and voice of reasoning, but also that she just, gave up. She didn't even confront him, she just, was a door mat.
Amethyst continued to see that Fluttershy noticed that it was 18 love letters, on the 18th day, but then what she didn't expect, was that Discord flew away, and was waving at Fluttershy! As if to say: Good bye! I will not write! She saw Fluttershy slide down, and Amethyst quickly went to her side. She saw Fluttershy close her eyes. What the hay is wrong with this Discord? Amethyst thought.
"Oh my celestia!" She said because of the princess, and because of the sudden change of temperature. She felt the room quickly change temperature, causing her to sneeze. She felt Fluttershy's body, and realized it had gone cold. She then saw Fluttershy get up, even though she was freezing cold, she looked nothing of the sort! In fact, her eyes went to slits as she said boldly:
"Well I don't care about this engagement either!" Fluttershy in-did her necklace and threw it on the ground and stomped on it, and threw it out the window. All in the meantime of Amethyst standing there. She then saw Fluttershy's eyes go back to their original circle.
"Fluttershy, are you okay?" Amethyst touched her friends shoulder, and was glad it was warm again.
"*gasps!* Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't notice you were there, and you startled me." Fluttershy looked away, and she looked down.
Amethyst thought of a perfect question to solve her mystery, or at least help, to see if the windigos were actually taking part in this.
"Nice necklace Fluttershy." Amethyst calmly said. She watched Fluttershy self-consciously touch her neck, to feel the necklace, and gasped as she looked down and realized it wasn't there!
"W-wait Fluttershy, I know where it went." Oh crap. I just got the cat out of the bag now. She watched Fluttershy's face go from the previous confusion and fear, to considerate, and kind. "Do you promise that you believe every word I say?"
Amethyst hoped Fluttershy would understand. To her surprise, she said yes and nodded.
"Okay, here it goes. So, Discord was on that bed," She pointed to the bed. "and he was writing love letters and was kissing all 18 of them." Fluttershy gasped in happiness. Amethyst wished it was like that. "But he appeared to be sending it to the princesses, well, more like, princess." She watched in pity as Fluttershy's face went from happiness, to sadness. "Anyway, he noticed you, and finally acknowledged it. He then waved and flew out the window." Amethyst hugged Fluttershy, and also said, "I'm sorry, but not sorry." When she said this, Fluttershy's face was full of tears, but also anger. Amethyst continued her sentence. "I think this is not the real Discord. Or, was just a minute ago, the real you. You threw your necklace with your ring and stomped it on the floor and threw it out the window. You would never do that, and Discord would never reject you. Understand?" She noticed Fluttershy went to her own throat and rubbed it, as if she was pretending to feel the necklace again. She nodded, and looked out the window. She finally uttered her few, but necessary words.
"I believe you, but who caused it?"
Amethyst smiled, since she knew the answer to that, almost perfectly.
"I think they are changelings, or windigos, that went inside you. From my notes, I came up with changelingwindigos as the culprit, or, how I like to call them, changdigos." Amethyst stepped to where Fluttershy was standing, and looked out as well. She gasped as she realized that Fluttershy's ring was nowhere to be seen. Fluttershy glimpsed Amethyst's expression, and heard her gasp, and she couldn't hold it in anymore.
She cried. She will never find the ring again... She didn't care it was 0.19 carats, all she cared about, was the memory that came with it. She apparently made a whole new set of tears, and she cried out that set too. Amethyst could only comfort her through this tough time for her. She would be that closest pony that is nearby, and cry into their shoulder. She didn't really mind, that she wasn't her best friend, or of all the tears that were trailing down her fur. Amethyst soon realized that Fluttershy had cried herself to sleep, and Amethyst got under the spell of sleep, the natural spell, at least.
