Quest For the Cure

by Inactive Pone

Chapter 9:The recovery plan

After a long journey, Frisk finally made it back home. All she needs to do is to find the mayor and talk to him about the cure.
‘It certainly changed a lot since I was here,’ Twilight whispered to Frisk.
‘Well, it has been a decade since the war, but nothing really special was built after Gromiz took the country.’ Spike told her.
Along the way, they passed through Frisk’s home. Frisk saw Asriel at the door while he was talking to himself.
‘Twilight, you go hide nearby for now. That’s my brother over there.’ Frisk told her.
She went over and tapped him on the shoulder. ‘Asriel? I’m back.’ She said happily. Asriel was overjoyed and hugged her tightly.
‘Sister! You’re back! We missed you a lot when you were gone!’ He said.
‘Not to interrupt the moment here, but where’s the mayor?’ Spike asked.
‘Lucky for you, he came over to us ever since he got the news that you are coming back from the island.’ He replied, opening the door.
Inside, the mayor was by the fireplace, patiently resting until Frisk came back.
‘Ah, it’s you Frisk! Congratulations on making it back safely.’ The mayor said, relieved.
‘Wait, where’s my mother Chara? Isn’t she around?’ Frisk asked.
‘About that…She got captured by Flowey, now she is forced to work for him…’ Asriel said sadly.
Frisk gasped. ‘That thing! Not only did he kill my father, but he’s now captured my mother too!?’ She said furiously, followed by some really inappropriate words in her sentence.
‘Whoa, take it easy Frisk, don’t get mad just yet.’ The mayor warned her. ‘By the way, what about the cure Zebulon gave you?’
‘It’s a little… different than I expected. It wasn’t an object or a potion or anything, apparently it was a person.’ Frisk explained, calling Twilight inside.
When they first saw her, they looked surprised. ‘Who is she?’ Asriel thought.
‘This, is the ultimate cure.’ Frisk told them.
‘You’re a pony? How could you be the cure?’ The mayor said.
Twilight smiled. ‘Glad to be back here, I’m Twilight Sparkle but you can just call me Twilight for short.’ She said. ‘I recognize you, you were the mayor, correct? I was in the war a decade ago.’
‘It’s been quite a long time; I can’t recall you being in the war.’ The mayor said, embarrassed.
‘That’s because I died trying to defeat Gromiz, and Zebulon surrendered. Moving on, I already told Frisk how this “cure” works on the way back, basically I have these crystals that they used to resurrect me, and their magic feeds on friendship. That’s why I had them before I died. Besides, I am nicknamed the “Goddess of friendship”. You can wait for their power to restore, but it will take a long time,’ Twilight explained.
Asriel was fascinated by the mythical creature. He wanted to know more, but he was shy to ask.
‘So you’re saying the crystals get their power through friendship? Is that how the cure works?’ The mayor asked.
‘Not only does it give the user magic powers, it can also be used to purify and cleanse a person’s sickness and diseases. However, only someone that has proven themselves to be able to spread friendship easily has the permission to use the magic powers contained. Otherwise, it cannot be used.’ Twilight replied.
‘That is exactly what we’re looking for!’ The mayor exclaimed. ‘But where do we get the magic for the cure?’
‘Well, we have been doing a lot of friendly stuff on the way back, and with Twilight, the magic was able to be restored surprisingly quickly,’ Frisk said.
‘I’ll show you how this secret potion works,’ Twilight said confidently. She got the crystals, and arranged it in a circle. Then, she placed a water bottle in the center. With a magical spell, she turned the liquid in the middle into a rainbow-colored potion.
‘A duplication spell will do the trick, it’ll save us a lot of time,’ She further said.

The next day, the group was giving out the magic potions to the rebels. Thanks to the duplication spell, it was easy to give out enough potions for everyone. After that, the residents were cured from the miserable curse.
After they went home, they were very tired but very glad they managed to cure everyone. Twilight handed Frisk one last potion. ‘I think this belongs to you, Frisk.’ She said with a smile.
‘I thought I was cured already,’ Frisk said curiously.
‘With this potion, you will have granted the access to the most powerful magic known to my kind.’ She told her.
‘But I don’t think I’m worthy of the magic powers yet,’ Frisk replied.
‘Trust me, I can feel that soon enough you’ll be able to feel the friendship and you’ll be able to take that dumb emperor down!’
As Frisk drank the potion, she heard shouting going on outside.
‘What’s that noise?’ Asriel asked.
‘I know what they’re doing. We’ll take it from here, Asriel. You go with the crowd.’ Frisk said.

Outside the palace, the residents of Britannica were shouting at and attacking the guards outside. It was a revolution!
‘Down with emperor Gromiz!’ The crowd shouted. ‘Make Britannica great again!’ they continued to shout more slogans as they got close to the palace.
Gromiz heard the screams and yelling from outside. He knows this isn’t going as planned.
‘Your majesty, what’s all the racket going on outside? And you don’t feel as good as before,’ the general said.
‘Mind your own biz! Don’t you see the endless amount of people outside declaring a revolution against us!?’ Gromiz said angrily.
‘Seems like there is nothing left to do.’ He turned to his general. ‘Double the guards! Double the weapons! Double everything! They shall NOT overthrow me!’ He said furiously.
