Spike was picking pedals off a flower, laying down on his back in the snow. He picked off every pedal if his friends love him or not. "They love me, they love me not, they love me... Oh, who am I kidding, they don't love me.", he said.
Then, suddenly, there was a growling from a hungry manticore crawling behind him. Spike turned and gasped. "Oh, hello, was this your snow bank?", he asked. "I hope it wasn't because I feel like I don't deserve anypony."
He screamed and ran off. The manticore started chasing after him. It chased him into the Everfree Forest, Spike ran through trees and jumped over rocks. Then, he ran into a dead end. He shook in fear as the creature slowly crawled toward him. "I wish my friends were here right now!", he screamed.
Just then, a spark flashed. Discord landed around Spike, guarding him from the hungry creature. "STEP AWAY FROM THE BOY!", he shouted. He roared at the creature causing it to shrink into a baby. It ran off.
"That's right, run away, you coward!", Discord yelled.
He kneeled down to Spike. "Spike, thank goodness you're alright.", he said. "Did the creature hurt you?"
"No.", Spike said. "Thank you, Discord. What are you doing here?"
"I came here to save you.", Discord said. "And what are you doing out here all by yourself?! You could've ended up being a meal for that creature!"
Spike looked down with a frown. "I thought my friends didn't need me, so I ran off.", he said. "They said I had tiny feet and can't reach high places. I felt like I wasn't appreciated and they weren't my rightful family."
Discord understood why Spike was so upset. "I understand, Spike, but they need you.", he said.
"They do?", Spike asked.
"Yes, they love you, Spike, they want you back.", Discord said.
"Where are they?", Spike asked.
"They're outside the Everfree Forest, I told them to wait out there.", Discord said.
Spike smiled. "Can you take me to them?", he asked happily.
"Sure.", Discord said.
